I really wish I was born so that I could of been at them races watching the sports sedans! So much better than the racing today, well more exciting and it's not just Holden and ford
Real drivers, real cars, real tracks, real conditions (smaller cars). Not like the prima dona sooks of today racing specialy designed and built replicas who can't drive one of these old "beasts" of yesteryear if there life depended on it!
By the time they got to Wanneroo Park Moffat had the Capri RS 3100. Geoghagan was black flagged for not making the grid on time but started from the rear of the grid anyway and got into second or third place before pulling into the pits. I think Petes blood pressure might have been up.
I'm amazed at how much the cars are bouncing in front. It almost looks like they don't have shock absorbers the way they're bounding about. The track must have a lot of heaves in it.
Footage up till the 90s you can really see the poor shock control on the cars, so much so its visually obvious now. Look at the early footage of the r32 qualifying at bathurst bouncing through the chase and the rest of the track.
Was the Bond car the one called "the ugly". An LJ with the Repco 5000 / 308 shoehorned into the engine bay? Did Pete the Great run the six or seven litre unit in his beast?
Gotta love how much those cars were bouncing! Makes the current crop of F1 drivers complaining about "porpoising" look like a bunch of woolly woofters lol
The grey Ray Molloy mini is still alive. I bought it back in 89.
Now that's racing! Love the variety of cars and the twisty course.
Classic Aussie motorsport with two of our greatest. Thanks for the memories!
Geoghagan's Monaro was a bloody beast in a straight line, that was where he was getting Moffat in the Chevy Monza

Love the way they threw the cars around the track and the occasional drift...awesome...
group c is cool but sports sedans of this era is next level
This is when racing was worth watching
Fucking awesome 600hp back in 1976 is a he'll of a lot of power
The car left on the track wouldn't happen today. Safety Cars hadn't been invented then! Great racing in this video!
Cigarette companies may be evil but they did sponsor some amazing cars and racing
I wouldn't say they are evil, they provide a product, you don't have to buy.
Moffat was brilliant in his day. So was Pete!
Loved sport sedans they were the best racing was great remember this race l was not far from where the charger was left and they kept on racing
37 years later Jimmy Richards still as competitive..

There’s always one...
No one races like this anymore.
My kind of racing some neat looking race cars aswell.
