- Falco performing 'Rock Me Amadeus' and 'Vienna Calling' on an episode of American Bandstand in 1986. He's also interviewed as well.
While converting some of my old saturday morning cartoon tapes, I randomly found this episode towards the end of one of the tapes. Hope all you Falco fans will appreciate this. I haven't seen this uploaded anywhere else, so I'm sure its not readily available out there.
Nobody today is even half as cool as he was.

I love Falco since 1982. He is a great source of inspiration. I have written a personal booklet that I offer to my friends and youngs also, with CDs for different occasions, and also a booklet of drawings.
I hope that the new generation around me will know and love Falco at his true value.

Vienna Calling is one of my all time fave songs from this era!
I actually liked "Vienna Calling" more than "Rock Me, Amadeus." They certainly don't make music like that, anymore. I've even heard it said that no other artist from Austria has ever made it as far as Falco did.
He had a great career abroad, but he never was able to match the success he had in 1986. He sort of fell off the face of the earth here in America until we heard about his death. Very sad.

Great video...thank you for posting. I note that you have additional American Bandstand footage through your comment exchange with ABdancers. He produces high quality montages from shared Bandstand broadcasts...however extremely hard to find episodes given the era. Myself and other Bandstand enthusiasts would be most grateful if you could share what you have...many thanks.
scott davis I keep meaning to get back in touch with AB Dancers. I've just been busy with other stuff. I'll see if I can set up a download link for you guys to the raw VHS transfer I did for the whole tape. You'll have to excise the AB episode out of it though, but I suppose that shouldn't be too hard.
motorhead9999 Thanks for the reply to Scott’s message. A download link will definitely work such as Google drive however whenever possible I try to restore American Bandstand footage from the original VHS tapes to get the very best quality. I’ve successfully transferred tapes to digital for a former AB dancer and a channel subscriber. I took excellent care of their tapes and returned them in the time frame they requested. Awesome song always loved it, but Falco can't dance. He looks like he was having a hard time with the mic. I would have been dancing and moving all around to this song!
As far as lip syncing it is necessary in these circumstances. The whole idea is to sell product. Its about money period. The product is produced better at studio level without mistakes. You want to demo the product that people will buy on disc. A lot songs do not come out well live due to intricate studio production.

Dick Clark motioned for some of us dancers to dance behind Falco on Vienna Calling. I'm the girl who hugs him at the end. ABS would put KFC out on benches at lunch time for the dancers and Falco came out and mingled with us. No other artist I saw there ever did. Sweet memory RIP Falco❤️

It‘s very international streamlined meanwhile, designed to push through as many Tourists as possible day by day - since this seems the only way to generate enough taxation so that politics can manage the paybacks of the horrendous official, „public“ debt while making new debt steady - instead of saving. Unnecessarily the political managers of Vienna try to make a very interchangeable City out of it - which visitors might just not notice because they have no way to compare.
