I used a hose clamp to hold in the red button, works great, no cutting, no jb weld, and easy to release (only put it on tight enough to hold the clamp😀
If the fire goes out while the gas is engaged you got a big problem the propane gas will keep flowing un burnt. but if you are going to be monitoring it closely and in a jam its ok i guess
What I did was cleaned the terminals on safety switch. They were just a little dull, but enough to keep it from working. Or can buy new safety switch for about 12 bucks. Do it right people!
Thank god for your video! Damn heater wouldn’t stay lit after only a month of use. I’m using a bandana tied around it holding the button down for now. Thank you sir, God bless!
For me the problem was the knock over sensor. I took that off(2 screws) and then took it apart(1 screw and some clips) . Put it back together and then it functioned normally. Not sure exactly what I did but I did not tighten the screws as much so I think that maybe there wasn't enough room for the ball to do its thing. It could have also been the spade terminal connections, disconnecting and then reconnecting may have improved the connection somehow. it seems like a fairly common microswitch inside so next step would be to replace that switch for a few bucks.
Loved the video!! I got a 2 burner Mr heater that lights and works for about 20-30 seconds then the screen starts poppin and banging , then it goes out and it flares up down at the coupler and never goes out completely at the coupler ...any idea what that's about? ..I think the thermocouplers are bad ...not sure tho .. great fix btw ..I like the way u think ..
Mine actually just had a bunch of dust on the top of the thermal regulator, and I believe the ball that sets on top of the tip over cut off switch was stuck.
NOPE! It doesn't burn as high as it does if you just wire the wires together. Well at least mine doesn't. I tried this and it didn't seem like it was at full potential. It's super easy to wire the wires together though. Well I guess if the thermocouple is bad then yes but 95% of the time with these it's that damn tip over sensor. my wires had clips on the ends that plugged into the tip over sensor. I just unclipped them cut a skinny piece of metal and joined them together. My clips were females, you could easily just put a male clip on one side and plug them together that way too but I found the little piece of metal was the easiest.
What would be wrong with mine? If I’m pushing the red button and there’s no gas flow even though I’ve got a full tank and the gas valve is turned full on?
I have one like that that's giving me trouble when you hit the button and you put the lighter up to it to write it as soon as you like going to button shuts off I held it in for at least a minute and as usual at the off the button it shuts off
Bro don't watch or listen to any of these videos are you need to do is the 1st time you lighted for the season hit with your old ladies hair dryer warm all them fittings up down there get a moving again and then they will like in stay on fine this happens every Winter And that's how you fix it you don't have to cut anything you don't have to glue or JB Weld nothing
Dude no The only thing that is wrong is it's been sitting all summer so it's a little cold take your wife's hair dryer and warm up that blackball in that whole fitting For a few minutes before you light it for the 1st time for the season and you will not have no problems with it this is very common and that's how you fix it you'll warm up the whole fitting You aint gotta JB Weld or glue are cut anything
I’m sorry, but I have to rebuke this repair. This isn’t a repair, it’s an unsafe rig job. The thermocouple on this heater needs replaced. That’s the only way to properly repair this heater. The micro switch and ball are unlikely to fail. Simple test with an ohm meter will test it’s continuity. The thermocouple is subjected to high temps and is more likely the culprit. $9 part, easy fix.
Thermal coupler.flame sensors and ignitors. So many people toss heaters and furnaces due to these basic seasonal/occasional repairs. It's mind blowing considering you can UA-cam anything
I disagree with your statement about the micro switch and ball unlikely to fail. I’ve dealt with 3 of these heaters now having an issue and all 3 of them was due to that safety ball shutoff feature. Huge fail from my experience with them. Just what I’ve seen!
@@CPoddy I believe when you push in the safety shut off valve to light it is pushing the tip over cut off valve out the way until the thermocoupler heats up. Then when released it stays open.
This in way way at all is how to fix something. Absolutely useless information. Fixing something is getting it working properly or repairing or replacing parts so it works as it should. Boooooooooooo
Very bad advice. That button is there for a reason. Bypassing safety features is stupid. Telling other people to do it on UA-cam is feloniously stupid.
Thanks a ton. My heater died while fishing and you fixed it in 30 seconds .
I used a hose clamp to hold in the red button, works great, no cutting, no jb weld, and easy to release (only put it on tight enough to hold the clamp😀
THANKS
I just did the same used a clamp to hold it in works great. I picked it up at a thrift shop for 5 bucks.
Thank you for explaining this so simply 👍🏼

Simple enough, thanks for the advice. I was about to throw the damn thing.
Zip tie did the trick. The steel ball seemed to be freely moving, but even holding it in for 60 seconds it wouldn't stay lit.
Dude….. genius. I’m looking for wiring diagrams when hey, just fucking glue the bottom. Putting toolbox away and grabbing glue, thank you
Hose clamp, good idea I taped mine but it stretches, thanks for the video it helps

Thanks for sharing your "FIX"..! I just disassembled my sensor and reassembled it and now it works...
Thanks for your comment!! That is what I'm off to do right now!! 🤞🤞
Thank you brother 👊🏼
Literally if you have to find a way to jam down the propane button and just use the notch
Zip ties will keep you warm.
Just clean and adjust the thermocouple or replace the thermocouple. Both are simple to do and safer.
Works! Thanks.
Thx, quite helpful piasano!
Thanks for sharing I done mine the same way.

It's something to do with the front of it
All you do is join the 2 wires together
Insane!!!!! thats there for safety, buy a new 39 dollar heater and get it out of your van! bt Its called a thermo coupler.
Mine actually just had a bunch of dust on the top of the thermal regulator, and I believe the ball that sets on top of the tip over cut off switch was stuck.
Idk what Is going on but I put some metal ties to hold it down and stay lit is that okay and safe

Mine was the tip over valve😂. All I had to do was set it upright

@@randyflannigon3452 Too late. I have 2 of them. I didnt JB weld the starter but I did bypass the safety switch with the ball in it. Works great now.
You didn't fix anything you just bypassed it so it will continue to work although it's unsafe now
Thank u sir !
Thanks 😊

yes Randy you 00/100 rightj
Huh. If you don't know where the thermocouple is in the first 15 sec....?
And then jury rig the heater. Nope.
Duck tape the red button in! Done.
Great tip, I used electrical tape and wrap it with a lot of tape, work great this bypass.
Thank you 🇯🇲🇨🇦👍🏾👏🏾🤙🏾👨🏾🔧.
That what she said after an hour😁🤔
Couldn’t you just cut the sensor wires and connect them together?
Mine has no ignition button then I don't know how to turn it on

I’m not getting gas when I push in the button. I can push it 100 times and maybe get a puff of gas for a brief second then nothing. Any ideas?
In that case it’s the ball switch cutoff.

Epoxy seems like too much work all I did was zip-tie mine
Should have bought American.
