Stresses in that tiny volume are quite high and steel tends to be weaker in shear (lateral stress) than in compression (or tension which isn't applicable in this case).

Many folks see seasoned shave aficionados ‘racing along’ and flawlessly jumping through the diversity of their collections in hardware and software. In my experience, committing to the use of exactly the same gear repeatly as you are exemplifying is the ‘best teacher’ of ‘good shaving skills’. I seldom do it anymore, but early on, was a regular practitioner of using 1 preshave, 1 razor, 1 type blade, 1 brush, 1 soap, and 1 post shave regimen for a whole month. New shavers could not go wrong adopting this practice.

I’m glad people watch my long videos, but in the end I do them for myself. I’ve long believed and said, the real test of honing is the shave. Good to see you in front of the camera. Great on camera shaving debut! Does the fact that it's a stainless steel razor account for it having stayed comfortable for 21 shaves so far with no stropping?
@@avromcoodin3010 Thank you for the kind words! Yes, I think this stainless is pretty wear resistant. I did have a strategy in preparing the edge also. I’ll do another shave video for shave 31 where I talk about the whole experience.
Actually, I recommend that you strop after each shave. I intend to do a wrap up video on August 31 where I explain my strategy for my “no stropping” month.
