The fact that she doesn't see herself as an idol or "superstar" and just as an artist trying to make her way through life is just so heartening. I wish every popular artist saw themselves less as effigies and more as sculptors.
She got married twice she got divorced twice Her downfall and mourn when her mother dies She experienced racial discrimination as a Japanese-American She wanted to rise up and getting stronger she comes out as a non-binary She makes music that people like it the most due to the fact her uniqueness.
She describe herself as an artist not a money maker, that's what make her music different, unique and interesting. I just love how she work on her music, totally an art not a money maker who can sing. Besides all of that she just had an amazing voice too.
As a Japanese I know how big superstar she is in Japan and it’s almost impossible for her to live normal in Japan. I remember she said that in one of interview that she prefers to live in overseas because she has to do daily necessities by herself such as paying bills, shopping etc. She said she values that. It’s very interesting she said that.
im amazed that my two fav artists, utada and grimes, share the same mindset. they both don't see themselves as singers although their voices are angelical and beyond any dimension a human could reach, they both start making their songs with the base
@@zadaofficial8091 SERIOUSLY. Though I would love her to do a new version of "Sanctuary" but instead it's "Non-Binary" and the accompanying music video heavily featuring Mulan's world from Kingdom Hearts.

It's so hard finding videos of Hikaru speaking English. I just love listening to her speak.
She was born in the US. Her first English interview (Exodus era), she talked like a Californian.
She doesn’t open her mouth when she speaks English.
She born in U.S. She is American 🇺🇸
Listen to her interview with Zane Lowe
