I remember going over this game in a bar in Seattle in my 20's. I remember some guy made a comment like "Can you imagine pretending to be thrilled by chess?" I remember just laughing internally because this game was pure firey chaos by two of the most fascinating players to ever grace chess.
I wonder if Fischer had lived in the USSR and played thousands of games with high quality players that the Soviets had if he would have become stronger quicker than he did. After all, the advice Chess Coaches tell starting players is to play against stronger players to learn how to get better. His ability would have been noticed and he would have gotten the best coaching and training possible instead of having to play against the limited amount of good players in America. On the other hand he was extremely resistant to authority and wanted to do things by himself. Nonetheless, the high quality of players he would have played against daily was a factor for improvement that was not available in NYC.
Chess Dawg, just a minor request. Could you show the entire right side of the board in your videos? It's a bit jarring to have the edge and co ordinates chopped off.
I think the position at 5:50 is considered equal not because of the scope of the bishop but because after playing Ba4 and white plays Qf6, black can basically just repeatedly harass whites queen with their rook and force a repetition. Majority of time the engine has an evaluation of complete 0.0 it's usually because there is some type of force repetition/draw that if one side doesn't allow they will be worse 👍
I've read GM Yasser Seirawan's book and he, too, had a positive record against Tal - because Seirawan admittedly likes to play "boring, positional, safe" chess (his own definition) which was very effective against Tal's dynamic, vibrant style.
I wouldn't say Fischer vs Tal are the ultimate "clash of styles." That implies they have opposite styles. Tal vs Petrosian or Kasparov vs Karpov are "clash of styles."
Why tangent off to show blunders? I am not here to watch examples of blunders. We know what a blunder is and you make us have to skip forward to find where the REAL game is being shown. It is as if you put a nonsense commercial in the middle of your video just to? Why? To blunder. To aggravate the viewers ?? I gave up on the video after returning to the real game proved difficult.
This is an extremely common part of analysis. Pick up almost any book that goes over famous games and it will explain why some moves which otherwise look okay don't work. Why? Because it will teach you about the details of the position, which is exactly what the video is supposed to do.
This is probably the most insane game i’ve ever seen in my life
Morphy Alekhine Kasparov had More beautiful games than Fischer and Tal!!

Mikhal Tal isn't GM. He is a magician.
He is THE magician and a GM
Edit: "the"
Love your concise commentary. Keep it up, and you'll be at 100k soon. I subbed to Agadmator when he had 7k subs.
Lovely analysis, wouldn't mind longer, deeper videos. A 30 min explanation of the nuances and intricacies of this gave would've been pure bliss!!
For casuals like me 10min is fine so I think ideally he could do both, a short version for non players and a long one for pros. 🎉
Young Bobby was no match for Tal early in his career. The tide turned as he matured, however.
That's right. Fischer never beat Tal before1960. And Tal never beat Fischer after that.
Tal was the World Champion in 1960. Nobody was beating him then.
Tal took huge risks and even "bluffs". Nobody could bluff an adult Fischer in his prime. He had complete confidence in his analysis.
Wonder what would happen if Fischer 1970 vs Tal 1959 in candidate match...
@@ricwhk Fischer is the greatest genius to descend from the chessic heavens.
- Mikhail Tal
My money would be on R.J. Fischer.
Because those were tal's peak years he won candidates tournament, then world Championship match. Boby couldn’t defend tal's relentless attacks.
You are the best chess commentator I have found so far by far.

Great commentary
If only engines today were around in Fischer’s day. He would be 2x player he was and totally invincible.
Pretty crazy stuff

Lol looks scary from black or white's position by the end of the opening!
Nice Vid. THNX
more classics pls..
What a wholesome thumbnail 😄
Typical crazy Tal game. Bravo to both players
Gran partida.gracias y Saludos.
Reaching the limit for the right moves

After Ba4 the white queen could go to a2.But its pretty much out of the game at that square.
10:04 fair draw
Talk was pure brilliance. Fisher was in another dimension!
This type of game favored Tal. Fischer tightened it up especially against Tal later on, taking less risks and winning more than anyone.

Never panick lessons bearing game, hangig let it be,thanks.
4:45 The best move is Ke5. I am surprised why you don't comment on it?
Because Ke5 isn't possible. Kings don't move like that.
Did you mean in most Winawers, white keeps his king in the center, and not black, as you mentioned?
Yes, white.
Thank you 😊
thanks!
this game proves that i’m playing a totally different game probably x o 😂
okay, that was epi
Yayyyyyyy chess dawg
But fischer was 15 age🤦🏾♂️
Bobby best GM all the time❤️

noob here. What does a perpetual check mean? Is that a draw or did Tal win?

He’s explaining why various moves are forced and why they’re not possible. Calm down little girly boy

are you really complaining about a FREE video?
