- Slowly working its way through a recycle route in South San Francisco, CA. I’ve been wanting to check out a Cool Hand in person for a long time so I’m glad to have finally done so.
SSF has been on my list for a while, glad to see someone got footage of them! Always liked the Cool Hand (filming wise) but normally I see them paired with WXs from the ones here in Santa Rosa and Novato. However, I really liked them paired with the WXLL. The brake release from the first gen Autocar definitely added a nice touch to it. Definitely a little slow but still great to see and wouldn’t mind filming! Nice work!
Thanks!
when i was three i didn't know that cuz i didn't see the split
that truck always come to my house 🏘
Is the truck body supposed to split out the recyclables or are they relying on the trash cart's split compartment to do it for them? Looks like some of the trash carts got tipped at an angle, had wrong recyclables in them, had recyclables spill out of the bins and not get picked up because they were overfull. If the design is relying on the trash cart to properly split the items into two separate hoppers, I can see a lot of unintentionally mixed recyclables winding up in the wrong compartment in the body of the truck.
A company trialed a split bin recycling and rubbish system here in Australia, it did not go well. They eventually pulled out the plastic divider and separated the bins as one for rubbish and one for recycling, IE 2 240 litre bins. One had a yellow lid, which was for the recyclables. It's much better to use a separate bin instead of a split hopper in the truck, if the rubbish bin is tipped at the wrong angle recyclables and garbage go the wrong way. I've seen what it's like to be sorting out the waste and recyclables type of recycling bin pickups with a split body truck collecting them. I did 6 months part-time in a recycling facility and let me tell you it was an automatic fast forward to the rubbish packer hooklift garbage packer at the end of the recycling belt if there was too much rubbish contaminating the recyclables. It is not fun having to do a job like that but it had to be done as best as was possible. It was since discontinued and replaced with the 2 bin system mentioned earlier. It's always preferable to have separate bins for each type of rubbish wherever possible, the less excess sorting has to be done, the better!
yeah that's the part that always confused me
A cool hand in CA Jesus Christ this is fucking awesome
