Would love to see a video about which textbooks we should read if we are really getting into finance for beginners. Also how to take the courses which to do first
@Luka - I actually posted a video on the best books for finance a few months back. Take a look here -> ua-cam.com/video/zLw6q0AzBWQ/v-deo.html Let me know if you read any of of these 🤞
woww really a great video, I was already aware of the courses of CFI though, but the other mentions were also great! Could you please make a similar video for CORPORATE BANKING ? ... it would be really helpful (minus the one from CFI)
Thank and yes - I am now pooling a lot of this stuff onto a website I created for this purpose - take a look at FinTechCertificates.com where I lay it all out around the various subjects.
Martin I have an extensive background in Chemistry (Masters Degree) and have worked as a financial planner for 2 years already plus a year of trading options side hustle. I want to take an investment banking course and I am between the CFI FMVA vs the Yale one. I'm concerned that 33 hours won't be enough and I'm wondering which one would have a bigger impact on my resume as a Chemist applying to investment banking jobs. Love Love channel, subscribed!
@Omar - thanks for reaching out. I think your background is actually going to help you get into investment banking. The CFI FMVA is clearly a deeper dive into investment banking and earns a really well recognized certification so you can't go wrong there. Given your background in chemistry, I can immediately think of a bunch of areas in IB that would welcome you. Be it directly in Mergers & Acquisitions, or Equity Research, or Financial Sponsors Group, or even in credit markets. The chemistry background will be immensely valuable because it immediately puts you ahead of people that "only know finance." Good luck and thanks for following 🙏
@@martinzeman89Hey there similar situation applies to me. I'm a physician newly graduated and thinking of going the IB or consulting route. Do you see a medical degree as an advantage as well?
Martin, I've seen you do videos similar to this Investment Banking video on FinTech, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity. How would you recommend identifying which of these routes would fit me best as in individual. For example what are the main differences, pros, cons, and what skills are required in these careers? I am soon to graduate with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, and I am intrigued by the cutting edge industries you make content on!
@Gideon - first of all, I love talking about this stuff as you have seen through my videos. I have seen way too many people climb a corporate ladder only to realize at the top that they were climbing the wrong ladder. Simply put - so many people out there work in jobs that they don't 100% love or enjoy, for various reasons like money, social status, family obligations perhaps. The biggest thing - and the hardest, also - is to realize what you love doing, what excites you. I remember the excitement I had when I walked on the trading floor at UBS as an intern 20 years ago. I immediately knew that was it for me. And ideally, you are beginning to have an idea about what you want to spend time doing....? Of all the areas I talk about, I think fintech is really exciting because it's the future of where finance is heading. Going into investment banking is still a very solid choice with great rewards, both in terms of education and learning, and financially, of course, as well. But fintech is where the future of finance truly is. Don't forget that investment banks have their own fintech solutions and are finally also trying to catch up to the disruption... So bottom line, I don't have a great answer for you. It's so individual and I don't know what you love doing. Maybe you studied business administration, but realized you want to be a photographer, a tiktok star, a chef in a Michelin restaurant.... the point is, life goes by in a blink and you should do what you love (assuming it also pays your bills). Finally - don't be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. The idea is to fail fast and learn from it and then do better. Hope it helps answer at least a little bit? 😜
hey cool video, but i already did two coursed from university of Pennsylvania on financial modelling and business modelling. i am also currently doing course The Complete Investment Banking Course by 365 Carrer in Udemy . Is it worth to put the investment banking course i have done in Udemy on resume or not what are your thoughts about it
I have been in the health sector for 15yrs! I don't enjoy it. I want to transition to Investment banking, I have developed some interest in this career path. Do you think i can transition as a beginner with any of these courses?
Hey great content here on this channel can you make a combined video for both investment banking and crypto defi courses as JP Morgan is now into the metaverse so I'd like to equip myself with the relevant industry skills
Thanks, Kunal. Did you see the 2 videos I made on DeFi courses and also the Metaverse? Here are the links: ua-cam.com/video/4ZXBUCLc1gw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/VyKswwoPS7w/v-deo.html - let me know what you think 🙏
Hi martin At Present I am doing msc in international business is there any course to make my cv look strong . I am planning to take investment course is that better or is there any course better than investment course can you help me with any ideas
Martin, when you say "I need to take Shiller's course", it means you haven't done it yet? Then how can you recommend it? Anyone can check the credentials of a person teaching the course, when you personally strongly recommend something, I would expect you to go beyond the credentials
@Dmitry - you know, you do have a good point there. It's a tough compromise. I try to put together a useful recommendation for people that often are at the beginning of their journeys in finance and would struggle picking the right courses/certifications. A bit like me trying to figure out who a good mechanic for my car is - I struggle recognizing who is good 🤷♂️ I researched dozens of courses, looked into the details and credentials behind them and also weighed these against the name of the game we live in - that is you want to take a course that will give you a solid background in finance and investment banking, but also really credible credentials when you include them on your resume. Shiller's course will do that, whether I personally take it or not. I'd like to believe though that on balance this channel delivers a lot of value. I hope you'll still take a look at some of these courses 🤟
Sir Is the CSMA course very basic? As i have Pretty good hold over financial markets and trading derivatives. Will it make me ready for a internship or a job im in the last year of my graduation.
Hello Tanmay - the CSMA is not basic at all, it's a proper certification that is well recognized and enhances a resume in a big way. If you already have a good grasp of markets and derivatives, you would certainly find a lot of stuff familiar. But the idea of a lot of these courses is really to earn a certification that will make you stand out to recruiters and put you above the crowd.... If you take the course, please let me know your feedback 🙏
Hello Z I am new here and in east african market thanks for this. I dint study finance but I have been working in investment banking for 5yrs now can I study this without a base in finance?
Hi Joy - yes absolutely. I would start by the first course in the list: Financial Markets by YALE - Robert Shiller - @t That should give you a really great baseline to work through the rest.Robert Shiller is a legend in the finance world and his course is extremely approachable. The second course in the list from Columbia University will give you a much more deeper dive into corporate finance, also a fantastic course: @t Good luck!
Hey Martin..I am a software database tester who works in investment banking and deals with different products like ILB,Equity,Issuances etc. i need to take course through which I can get a job in Singapore/UK/Australia.plz suggest
@Rakesh - yes they will. You're effectively putting a credential with a very powerful reputation behind it on your resume. A course backed by Yale, Columbia University, or the New York Institute of Finance will make you stand out and help overcome the fact that maybe your primary university isn't well known in Europe or the U.S.... Good luck! 🍀
Take a course, change your LIFE! 🤞🍀🤞

How much is to obtain the CMSA | Capital Markets & Securities Analyst Certification? Also how many hours will it take?
$500 a year i thought it was a one time payment?
Right now that's $497 for the year and it should take you about 80-100 hours of study commitment.
So is a one time payment or $497 a year?
