I was at every single Greensboro concert! I was only 8 when I went to my first one! I even remember the special shopping trip and outfit I wore. My mom was the BEST and made each concert a memory I would never forget! She was an amazing lady who loved me beyond words and shared her love of Elvis with me! We saw him I think in April before his passing in August?......I will never forget the words,”Elvis has now left the building”! Thank you so very much for bringing so many of my memories back to life!!❤️
Hello ....You are so fortunate! I was only at two and they were the best memories of my life! I honeymooned in Memphis though, and Vester Pressley let us in the gates of Graceland and up to the porch which was a real treat. It was not open to the public then, and not a soul was there but us. I missed the concert in 1972 because my boyfriend was acting weird and did not want me to go. He told me many years later. "I owe you an apology. In 1972, I made you miss an Elvis concert because I was jealous." I said, 'Jealous of Elvis?!!! THAT was what was wrong with you?!" I'm sure he had an awful night, because we went to the drive in movie and I sobbed uncontrollably all night. LOL I now kick my younger self for not telling him to fly a kite, and going anyway! :-) We tried getting off the elevator on his floor at this Hilton Hotel to no avail, and then tried climbing up those balconies on the outside of the building. LOL I also raised my children on Elvis, and they now are always sending me videos they find like this one. I'd love to live it all again, but my senior self could certainly no longer fight through crowds, over people and chairs or try climbing the Hilton Hotel. LOL
I grew up. In Greensboro NC and when Elvis played here in 1977, a friend of mine, his dad owned the limo company that drove Elvis to the show. One of the Rhinestones from Elvis' costume fell Off in the limo, and his dad found it the next day after cleaning. and he brought it to school. It was absolutely nuts holding that thinking it was on Elvis. Really cool stuff
I was at the Greensboro show with my Aunt. April of 1972. I was 14 yrs old and our seats were 10th row back, in floor seats, in center in front of stage. I thought I would DIE when he came out!!! Omg I’m still not completely over seeing him up so close. 😆💕😆💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Hello from England Elvis died 2 days before my 12th birthday. I used to listen to him on the Radio and it would be BBC Radio 1. The day of his funeral the 18th of August i remember watching the TV with my late parents and no one had ever seen the like. All i remember is seeing the cars behind the hearse and there were at least 20 cars, if not more. OMG I am so sad that Elvis was never given the chance to tour the UK. There were many "STORIES" as to why he did not make it and about Col. Parker. He had many fans that loved him and i am sure he would have met up with his buddy Tom Jones who would have shown Elvis around. There are videos of Tom saying as much some years ago. These locations you show back in the 70's is not all that long ago but OH what a change. The venues back then were probably huge to most people but now they look small. I am so thankful i was old enough in the 70's to appreciate all the great artists like Elvis. He was a SHOWMAN and he would sing with PURE, RAW, UNADULTERATED PASSION AND EMOTION. Since COVID messed up the human race over 18 months ago, like most people i have had more time on my hands and have spent some of it watching lots of videos about Elvis and looking back now you realise how many concerts he did and flying all over the place. Was the music industry back then better than today. I think so as then it was all live, NO LIP SYNC, NOT HORRIBLE AUTOTUNE and no backing tracks and it all stuff that these so called artists record in a studio with all the tech at their disposal.
Elvis entertained three generations (plus) during his lifetime. His face, image and aura have touched areas where he either never visited or whose music was barely known at the time. He just WAS...and that is rare.
Please keep up the great work I for years always wondered if the concert halls stadiums etc changed that much since Elvis Presley was there and your deep research and hard work is so much appreciated by myself and I think I can speak for all us Elvis fans and say thank you very much!
This is great guys!! I’ve been an Elvis fan since 1956 (don’t try to add up the years). What a great entertainer and awesome man. Think this is wonderful you and your son doing this together. Keep up the good work and thanks for all this information. Looking to see more soon.
My mom and sisters went to see Elvis final Greensboro show in 77. I was never a fan of his till later in my years. Now I realize how great the King was. Also we were staying at the Hilton in Greensboro . We heard Elvis was staying there. My brother and I looked allover the Hilton but couldn't find him. We gave up but we did see his backup singers on the elevator.
Fabulous video from beg. to end , always wished to find out the exact place of the Greensboro Col. backstage and the entrance to the stage chills my spine. Watched it so many times! Can´t believe you filmed there. Otoh, Amazing how the hotel keeps its facade. Thank you indeed, Jay.
I remember when Elvis gave his final concert at the Greensboro Coliseum in 1977. I wasn't there, but the local news made a big deal about it. They were interviewing at least one mother and daughter attending the concert, trying to highlight Elvis's multi-generational appeal.
The white silk scarf Elvis gives out during the song, Ain't it funny..how time slips away…Is a scarf I now own. Elvis tells the policeman…Let her have it…Let her have it man.
Awesome guys! I remember everything in this video. I've been backstage in Greensboro, I've waited for performers vehicles to pull in, I've waited outside of the Hilton for Elvis to arrive and I was at this concert.
I think it’s so cool when you say you can feel his presence, then a tribute artist shows up. That’s crazy man. Pretty cool. Thanks for your research and efforts!
WOW Thank you for the video. Such wonderful memories! I am a senior now. In June of 1976 we stalked that hotel LOL, and tried numerous times to get off the elevator on his floor. They had men guarding the elevator so no one could get off, and later locked it off on that floor. We then attempted to climb up those balconies on the outside of that Hilton Hotel, but we did not get very far. LOL :-) What I would not give for that second row seat at that concert, just one more time! Thank you Elvis. We will always miss you.
Thank you for creating and sharing this film. Matching the Elvis era images to the present day is so surreal. Especially those areas of the building which have little changed. Just watching you can almost sense Elvis's spirit there. Oh how I would have loved seeing him perform. Knowone will ever come close.
Great video! If you ever get to Jacksonville Florida let me know. There’s a great shot of Elvis leaving the then Hilton right on the St John’s River in Elvis On Tour. Today it is the Doubletree but you can still line up the shots in addition to him traveling over the Main Street bridge. The Coliseum has been replaced but the Florida Theater is still here and open. Thanks for what you guys are doing. His Greensboro concert is one of my favorites.
This is almost spooky in that I had the same sense watching this, thst HE had just been there! Thank you for showing a TRUE & SPECIAL part of OUR HISTORY⚡🥰🌹💖🙏💗

Very interesting anything about Elvis concert footage! I remember staying up really late one night in the 1980s bc a local public t.v. station that played movies on Saturday nights was going to show "Elvis on Tour" then later it came out on VHS in the 90s,then I had it on DVD with the Hawaii show and This is Elvis, I wore them out.I'm a 55 year old male truck driver, I love Elvis my parents were all Country and Western, my wife don't like Elvis my kid's don't my grandkids to little... I didn't know who Elvis was till he died, My 1 wish to go back in time and see Elvis in Concert ,sorry mom, think I was going say see my mom or dad alive again
