Just came across your channel after watching I think it was called DIY Tiny Homes or something like that. And I got to hear about the trip from Utah to Texas and the moment it dawned on you that this was the way to go. I saw the completed home but nothing wrong with watching the origin story.🤙🏽
I can't wait to see when you finish. I love the idea of a double decker bus for a big family and those bunks are awesome! We're currently in double fifth wheels with our two kids. One is bedrooms, the other is living, office, and kitchen.
Hi.. I think you have good times with your family in this DD rv... would you say about cost of the Bus please... also want to see all the product details ... 😀😀👉👉
That is a great bus! I'd like a double decker bus/motorhome for permanent living/traveling/working. But how do you ship a double decker bus (safely) to other continents (it obviously doesn't fit in a shipping container)?
One of the things you said made me wonder about something. I assume you have to get a CDL to drive something that size, but do you also have to keep driving logs?
It actually does not require a CDL once it's converted and registered as a Motorhome (which it is now). It does, however, require a Class B non-CDL which requires a written and skills exam.
@@DoubleDeckerFam Great to know! Thanks so much for the info and for getting back to me! I truly appreciate it. I’m enjoying watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your journey!
Ima get right to my question. I just saw you video on tiny home tours and after your all in what was this total cost including bus? I thought about doing this on a double decker or articulating bus. Thanks Steve
It’s hard to give a good total cost because we’ve had a lot of things go wrong with the build itself so lots of extra expenses. If done right the first time we would have been right around $200k or just a little over $200k.
The price really depends on the condition. I’d be looking around 50-120k for the bus and then the build out would depend on your specs. Ours has ended up costing WAY more than we initially expected because of all the issues we had from the builder we hired.
This bus was specifically designed for the US market and with our solar panels on top is just under 13’6” which is the same height as a semi truck. We plan to stick primarily to truck routes so we shouldn’t have any issues.
The business (Cabin) is still around, but they’ve stopped operations right now due to Coronavirus. They switch from double deckers to single level buses at the beginning of 2020 I believe.
@@LadyJ1A there are 3-4 places you can find them in the US. The authorized Van Hool Dealership is ABC Companies so they sometimes have these double deckers. We also found some on eBay, but ultimately we bought ours from BusForSale. I just checked and there is on on BusForSale right now and it’s a pretty low price (could be something wrong with it but I’m not sure, it’s just a really low price).

Just saw your mobile home tour @ tiny home tours, I think that is the most efficient mobile home in that scale I've seen.

Just found y’all!! Love it. Been trying for years to get my hubby just to travel in our RV..
Awesome mobile home! U made my dream come true! Thank u!🎉❤
You have great base for a family rv, with some improvements and changes you'll enjoy the adventures. Best of luck with your build. 👍
Good for you. Some people just think about their life; you are definitely living it.
The pods are great but could be rebuilt with a small desk of their own to sit and draw and stuff so that they could do homework and have some privacy.
Just saw this channel. Looks like fun!
You could make kids bunks In the storage area there’s a couple who did it for their boys
Can't wait to see how this turns out!
I remember this bus. I saw four UA-cam videos of it that fleshed it out. The Cabin.
It's a nice colour👌
I admire you for going double decker.
Thanks! It’s definitely different and we are excited for the adventures it will bring.
Beautiful double decker Dane !
Thanks! We’ve put a lot into it and look forward to living in it for the next couple of years!

You should get a wide angle camera, it would make the view easier to watch.
Completely agree. I’ll be upgrading my equipment soon so we can do better videos.
@@DoubleDeckerFam I have the optama TG tracker it a 120° angle and will handle the abuse and tight spaces really well.

Ours was here in the US already when we purchased it. We don't intend to take it to other continents so we haven't researched anything about that.
@@DoubleDeckerFam do you need a cdl to drive this
@@harrior931 No, it only requires a Class B non-CDL
You can ship on deck of a ship same way they ship yachts
I love your home!!
This is great! I'm curious, what would that bus have been used for prior to you purchasing it? I've never seen one like it!
Before we purchased it the bus was used by Cabin Technologies (@ridecabin) as a hotel on wheels operating between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Skoolie on steroids. Looks great.

How much does it cost
great vid
awesome stuff!
Can't wait to see it when it's done. What year is the bus?
It’s a 2009 Van Hool TD925

Very cool
there are low bridges in america can it get stuck? I mean 13.2 is pretty high

cummins are the best engines. hard to find them on buses 🚌

did u buy at auction?? private ? what kind of video is this if u dont disclose
Looks great!
How tall are you?
5 foot 9 inches. The lower deck on the bus is 71 inches and the upper deck is 67 inches (at it’s lowest point).
What reasoning do u not want to say what u paid?
Cause it’s none of anyones business

It's deal for 80 cases though

Not yet. We’ll be on the bus for the next two years.
