- Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” joins a panel with Christopher Rufo and Stephen Blackwood, the founder of Ralston College, to discuss the importance of saying no in order to protect and uphold the values of higher education institutions; Rufo’s experiences at New College of Florida, where he facilitated the exit of 40% of the faculty in an effort to change the institution's direction; the need for leaders to set limits and exercise their power to maintain the integrity of their institutions; why liberals often struggle to say no and resist radical changes; and much more. The panel is followed by an hour of Dave Rubin, Chris Rufo, and Stephen Blackwood taking questions from the students.

Understand that the federal government took over the student loan business to offset the cost of ObamaCare. Probably the first thing that should happen is ObamaCare needs to be repealed and return healthcare insurance to state oversight. THEN return education to state jurisdiction.
When I listen to Stephen Blackwood speak, I wish I could have heard his "spiel" \philosophy when I was 18. It is refreshing and filled with hope and possibility. Never thought I'd be interested in the inner workings of a University, but Chris rocks the house! I love his story about going in and ousting the witch who bullied everyone! He walks quietly but carries a very large stick!

The purpose of educational institutions is to educate, teach young people to think critically.
What do you think they put first education or profits?
Yes and it has been captured as a commodity by ideologies residing in government.
Now, profit 100%. No university should have a billion dollar endowment fund and be allowed to raise prices every year.
The successful students keep quiet, all the while their work is being claimed by the establishment.
This is what graduate schools are. Professors use their graduate students' work to advance their own careers without compensation without contributory recognition through publication.

51:15 ahhhhhh!!! This is driving me crazy… you absolutely cannot do anything with higher education, unless you completely do an overhaul with the building blocks in K-12. I’ve been a K-12 teacher too long to see the absolute failure of our schools. The classical model of old must return at a national level. Everything I’m hearing I see every day being fixed in a K-12 classical school. I’m hoping as I continue to listen to this interview (which I absolutely love!!!) ❤that elephant in the room is taking peanuts from all three of your hands. 🐘
I think you are right about this. I've taught at both the k to 12 and university level.
I work at a very large University, and very close to administration. It does matter who is in charge of the federal gov, i.e., federal funding to see the changes in the university. Student tuition is not what funds a university.

We need to return universities to being institutions creating the next generation of academics. Business school should be converted to a two year trade school. Trade schools should be expanded to focus on many more careers. Artists and writers should be moved to a trade school.
Dave, Warren Smith from the viral video of the teacher who helped a student critically think through his opinions of JK Rowling just got fired from his school without notice. Would love to get your opinion on that
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. Especially to this new speaker here. We have to stop talking about “democracy“, “democratic“, etc.
We need to learn and understand exactly what a “Republic“ is. And that it is 180° the opposite of a democracy. And that it is “democracy” that was initially infiltrated into the “republic”. And that is the reason for all disasters since that time.
Until we start talking about “the republic“, and start viewing the changes that we must make in terms of a “Republic”, we will not have a significant answer that will prevent this crap from ever happening again.
Start educating yourselves and don’t stop it’s an onion that you will have to peel for a long time. You will have to understand the political aspirations of politicians for the past 150 years and read the insane legislation and subterfuge that the population was duped into accepting as “American as apple pie “.
Federation of States is the site to start.

The guys on the outside had some annoying tendencies though, like indulging in multiple long analogous explanations of the same thing. And the stutter-like beginning of each of these explanations was upsetting. Example: "The.. th.. tha, um, way.. the thing.. well it.. um.. it... um.. first off the tha tha um the.. thing is...."

Very interesting and informative discussion. Was challenging to listen to Chris Rufo though with his stuttering and stammering. No doubt he's very intelligent and knowledgeable about the subject matter. But his verbal presentation is an obstacle and needs serious help. Hopefully he can overcome it like John Stossel and some others have.

Overthinking the whole problem. Please read the book, "The Anxious Generation" and remove all social media (ie. phones) from kids until they are 16.
The overwhelming majority of parents will never do that. Maybe after a couple of generations of changing the narrative around social media and kids and phones, it would be possible to shrink that majority.

He kind of blew it with his itchy declaration that minimalism sucks. What he is Santana of is that he’s objecting to modernism. Modernism was a rejection of the decorative. And the rejection of Modernism was Post-Modernism. Post-Modernism and its relativist inanity is actually what the current conflagrations is about. I like both pre-modern and modernist philosophy. Things really break down with post-modernism, which is just a euphemism for nihilism.
Christopher Rufo has been impressive in the fight against this bogus Woke movement. He clearly sees through their bull. However I do think he could use some help in analyzing Academia.
