We have been watching your channel and are learning a lot about Greece... we are also going to Paxos, Naxos, Santorini and Crete. Cannot wait to get there. THANKS AGAIN!!! Ed
My trip to Athens was about 15 years ago. I don't really remember much of the detail now, except for the snow falling at the Parthenon. It was magical. We went first thing in the morning and it was almost entirely empty. No more than about 30 people in total on the site.
Hey Sebi! My daughter and I did a bus tour our first time in Athens that included both the Olympic Stadium and the Acropolis and was very informative! (just like your tour of Fira was😊) It included admission (we walked right in) and picked us up close to our hotel, I'd highly recommend the guided tour!

After the museum we took subway to acropolis for the 4pm appointment. It was still hot (even for us from Arizona), but less crowded. After that we explored the neighborhood and took the subway back to the port, took a bus close to the cruise terminal and walked the remaining distance. We had a great day in Athens. THANKS to YOU! Also I heard from others who used the hop on hop off buses that the bus got stuck in traffic jam and they were not able to see a lot of places. Our advice, plan wisely!
Hi Sebi - I am wondering if you could offer some advice. So many of the videos I watch say to use the south entrance as the lines might be a bit shorter. But, I would kind of like to use the main entrance and enter through the Propylaia - sort of like I was walking in Athens 2500 years ago. What do you think? Is one entrance better than the other? We will be visiting in July - so I know crowds and heat will be an issue. I was thinking of trying to be there right at opening. Thanks for all your great advice!

Hi Seb! Thanks for the great videos you've shared about Santorini and Athens. I'm worried about the entry to the Acropolis from now on because I've read there would be some changes and the daily visitors to the Acropolis will be timed (although I agree with this new rule, I fear there may be some issues trying to get an entry). Have you had any issue with this so far? I know is something recent but maybe there has been some info about it in the country. Thanks!
My fiancé and I are visiting Athens next month and your videos are a huge help with our planning. Thank you for all the great tips! Do you know if the Acropolis has free entry on 18 May for international tourists? I don't want to purchase tickets in advance if we can also get in for free on International Museums Day. Thanks!
I just purchased my ticket! Combined ticket Attica and Central Greece. Is the time slot selected only applicable to the Parthenon? there are so many sites that are covered under the combo ticket that I purchased, that I could not possibly cover them all under that one-hour slot window. Can you shed some light? Thank you in advance!
Super informative video! What's the difference between the Tiqets link in the description box, versus buying directly from the Acropolis (and museums) website?
Hi, very informative video. It's mentioned above that Oct. 28 (OXI Day) is free entry at the Acropolis. I plan to visit the site that day, do i need to get a free ticket (where to get) or just walk in at the entrance? Thanks in advance
@@GreeceExplained Thanks for your reply. I’ll go early to line up. My accommodation is near the south entrance. Is that the entrance to take the free ticket? Also, are the free tickets only available at the booth, none online?
@@GreeceExplained I decided to just buy the combo ticket and do the Acropolis the day before the holiday. I will choose late entry to Acropolis as there will be 4 cruise ships that day. Incase I cannot visit the 7 archaeological sites included in the combo ticket on day 1, I can skip the line the next day (free sites day), right? I don’t need to line up for free tickets.
I would like to ask if the combined ticket should be used first in Acropolis and then in the other places? For example, if I want to visit the Acropolis on the last day of my visit to Athens, can I use the ticket for the other attractions on the previous days?
Hello great video Thank you important question is there any suggestion for adults over 80 with walking up step issue??? My mother wants to go to the top but I don’t think she can climb
Thank you for these videos, you’re very straightforward and helpful. I will travel to Greece in July, and since I’m younger than 25 I can’t buy tickets in advance in order to be granted free admission. I will definitely go to the ticket office of the Acropolis at around 8am, but I won’t be able to reach other places that early, so I was wondering if you know how long the lines can get in ticket offices in other sites such as the Acropolis Museum, the National Archeological Museum or Mychenae in other times of the day. I wouldn’t want to waste too much time just waiting in line 😅 thank you in advance!
Great video thanks, however, can you clarify, when I click on the Acropolis Guided Tour link you provided, it takes you to many offers and at various prices. Is there a favourite one you would recommend? Also, is there a 'Combo ticket' with a guided tour that includes the museum.

Hello, the links that you posted to find tickets for the Acropolis take me to a page that says: "Tickets not available" 😕 I am looking to visit Greece soon. Where else can i get them from?
This is the first year they DONT put all summer tickets for sale on Apr 1st, so I'm as confused as you are. I can only hope that before the end of April, all tickets will be online.
Thank you so much for this video. It was very informative. I do have a question if I buy the combo ticket how much of it will I be able to see in one day and are they close to each other?
I got the combo ticket from the official website and chose to go tomorrow at 4 pm. I assume that would be the day and time for the Acropolis. Would I be able to go to another archeological site before the Acropolis? Today or tomorrow morning? Or for the combo ticket I would have to go to the Acropolis first and then the rest of the archeological sites?
The date you chose is indeed the date & time for your visit of the Acropolis. Which means you can validate your ticket for the first time up to 5 days before that date.
Hi, First thank you for your travel advice! Please can help me with a answer at the folow question: Do you know or you can verify if disability people from UE have free acces at this sites and museu? I know this is a default law in UE contry's... but I whant to make sure that is avaible in this case. If not to book online tikets. I came in Athena in 18 september....Thnak you in advance! Best regards, Constantin from Romania
If you enter through the side south slope, do you still ascend up the hill the same way as the main entrance? Like up through the propylea or is there another path/trail up?
Both trails lead to the Propylea, but by entering (or exiting) through the side entrance, you also pass in front of the amphitheater of Dionysus and a few other monuments, which you dont see if you enter & exit through the main entrance.

Nothing changes, except you'll soon have to select a timeslot when booking your ticket. And you'll have to stick to that timeslot, otherwise they might not let you in.

Do you think these shoes are not comfortable to visit the Acropoli or other archeologic sites? 😢 I'm going to visit Athens in August and I think it will be veeeery hot wearing sneakers Thanks a lot! I'm going to watch other videos for some advice ❤
Hi Seb. Last month a visitor cap was instituted at the Acropolis (and not the other sites AFAIK) and when you buy either a single ticket or combo ticket, it will ask you to select a time period for that day. Does that mean that we are now forced to use the combo ticket first for the Acropolis? Our plan is to visit the Kerameikos the before, then the agoras the following day before we go to the Acropolis in the late afternoon to cap our day. We are now confused as to what day and time to chose? If we chose the day and time we want to visit the Acropolis does it mean that we can no longer visit the other sites the day or the times prior? If we chose the day and time for the Kerameikos, will we be able to enter the Acropolis the following day at any time? PLease advise. Thanks.
Hi ! Yes I'm going to release a video on this :-) The date you chose for the combo ticket is the date (and time) at which you HAVE TO visit the Acropolis. Since the Combo ticket is valid for 5 days, you can start using it as early as 5 days BEFORE the date of the Acropolis. So no worries, no need to change your plans :-)
@@GreeceExplained Thank you Seb. I was worried as when I received the PDF tickets via e-mail, the VALID until date was 5 days from the date that we chose to go to the Acropolis. We chose next Monday, Oct 30 and the "valid until" date was Friday Nov 3rd.

It's mentioned above that Oct. 28 (OXI Day) is free entry at the Acropolis. I plan to visit the site that day, do i need to get a free ticket (where to get) or just walk in at the entrance? Thanks in advance
You need to go to the ticket booth and get your free paper ticket, and then walk in. Expect some serious lines though.
@@GreeceExplained Thanks for your reply. I’ll go early to line up. My accommodation is near the south entrance. Is that the entrance to take the free ticket?
Also, are the free tickets only available at the booth, none online?
@@carmfe2688 Both entrances give away free tickets. No, you cant get them online. That's why there's gonna be huge lines even in the morning.
@@GreeceExplained
I decided to just buy the combo ticket and do the Acropolis the day before the holiday. I will choose late entry to Acropolis as there will be 4 cruise ships that day. Incase I cannot visit the 7 archaeological sites included in the combo ticket on day 1, I can skip the line the next day (free sites day), right? I don’t need to line up for free tickets.
@@carmfe2688 Correct !
I would like to ask if the combined ticket should be used first in Acropolis and then in the other places? For example, if I want to visit the Acropolis on the last day of my visit to Athens, can I use the ticket for the other attractions on the previous days?
Yes you can start using the combo ticket up to 5 days before the Acropolis date.
@@GreeceExplained Thanks!
Hello great video Thank you important question is there any suggestion for adults over 80 with walking up step issue??? My mother wants to go to the top but I don’t think she can climb
No there is no alternative unfortunately. Only wheelchair users get to use the elevator.
Thanks!
Is there a combo ticket that includes all 7 archaeological sites and the Acrópolis museum with a guide?
Nope. You need to hire the guides separately.
Hey ! The Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis Archeological site is where it gets ugly. Anything else is kind of okay.
Thank you!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Great video thanks, however, can you clarify, when I click on the Acropolis Guided Tour link you provided, it takes you to many offers and at various prices. Is there a favourite one you would recommend? Also, is there a 'Combo ticket' with a guided tour that includes the museum.
Its the first one on the list !
Yes the "Athens Pass" is what you're looking for. I explain everything in this video : ua-cam.com/video/hecReSX70gs/v-deo.html
Hello, I clicked on the link for the combo ticket , it took to Tiqets but any day is available -- it says "This experience is not available on Saturday 30 Nov. Please choose a different date" - No dates avialable??? would appreciate your help.
Hi Tobias ! I heard that new combo tickets will be put again online shortly :-)
You are amazing.💕👏🙏
I'm coming to Atrhens on Sept 16 with a group of 12 and have a private tour booked with Viator, but they are having trouble getting us a Licensed Unesco Guide. Any suggestions to helping us find that guide?
Dont know about Unesco Guides, sorry !
why are the tour links above not through some official greek acropolis website? How does one have confidence in tix purchased through "get your guide"? If i have 1 day in Athens i don't want to make a mistake.
Sure, all websites work ! Same ticket :-)
How doable are the steps to get to the acropolis and how do you use the elevator?
Its a 10-20min uphill walk, part stairs part slopes. The elevator is only for wheelchair users.
Can you use trekking poles on the acropolis? (With rubber tips).
Yes I believe you can
I tried to book a ticket today for October, and the site stated that tickets for October weren’t available yet?
Just updated the link. You can try again :-)
Thank you very much for your videos! Just one question: On the website, it's possible to buy tickets for May 1st, but is it open?
Yes, specifically in 2024 Labour Day will be celebrated on May 7th, meaning that for once May 1st is a normal day, with all sites remaining open.
Hello, I went back today to acquire my ticket (for July 31st) and it is not letting me get it, i keep getting this message: e-Ticketing service is not available for this specific selection. Is there a reason for that? 🙁
Yes, so far the Greek state has only released tickets for April. I'm expecting them to put the rest online later this month.
@@GreeceExplained oh, ok, I thought they would be available as of April 1st. I will check back a week from now and see if I can finally get my ticket. Thank you!
Hi great video. Is people allow to walk around or in the Parthenon?
Around, yes.
Hello, the links that you posted to find tickets for the Acropolis take me to a page that says: "Tickets not available" 😕 I am looking to visit Greece soon. Where else can i get them from?
The tickets for the summer season will be available from Apr 1st :-)
@@GreeceExplained Got it! Thanks! 🙂
Hi Sebastian! Dou you know when the tickets to July will be sold?
This is the first year they DONT put all summer tickets for sale on Apr 1st, so I'm as confused as you are.
I can only hope that before the end of April, all tickets will be online.
The Combo ticket link seems out of date and is now saying 'out of season'.
A time slotting system is being added to the Combo Ticket (new rules to enter the Acropolis since Sep 5th). It will be back online shortly.
@@GreeceExplained thank you !
Thank you so much for this video. It was very informative. I do have a question if I buy the combo ticket how much of it will I be able to see in one day and are they close to each other?
Everything is explained here : ua-cam.com/video/hecReSX70gs/v-deo.html
I got the combo ticket from the official website and chose to go tomorrow at 4 pm. I assume that would be the day and time for the Acropolis. Would I be able to go to another archeological site before the Acropolis? Today or tomorrow morning? Or for the combo ticket I would have to go to the Acropolis first and then the rest of the archeological sites?
The date you chose is indeed the date & time for your visit of the Acropolis.
Which means you can validate your ticket for the first time up to 5 days before that date.
Hi,
First thank you for your travel advice!
Best regards,
Constantin from Romania
Sorry, I'm not sure !
Hallo sir, im khan from Germany and i will fly in january to athen city and i need litle help if you like can you pliz guide me with the tickets.
I think the best ticket combination is Combo Ticket. If i click on the link that you give in discruption and that you mention, but i can not come forward. There are two option i dont understand until there.
Hi ! You have to choose the "Low Season" option, since you're coming in January.
We are visiting Athens 4-5/10. What is the best way to get tickets and see it now that they are limiting the # of visitors?
Nothing changes, except you'll soon have to select a timeslot when booking your ticket. And you'll have to stick to that timeslot, otherwise they might not let you in.
@@GreeceExplainedhi sebastian! I'm trying to book the combo ticket on the link you provided but it doesn't make me select a timeslot.
@@ryanfeliperoque466 Yes that's normal, from what has been communicated so far, the Combo Ticket will not be subject to timeslots since it's valid for 5 whole days.
Love your videos! You give very informative and valuable info. Quick question: is combo tickets available also in November? (Tickets are not available on the link you provided, maybe because it's 6 months away?) Thank you!
Yes there's also a winter combo ticket, usually half priced. It's not for sale yet coz its price hasnt been decided yet. That's usually done last minute, do they will be bookable from late October, I presume.
@@GreeceExplained Got it, thank you! All your videos are great, providing details and great recommendations :) Appreciate all your videos!
Hi! I'm planning to buy a pair of Birkenstock sandals (Arizona model, the basic one with 2 strings in leather).
Do you think these shoes are not comfortable to visit the Acropoli or other archeologic sites? 😢
I'm going to visit Athens in August and I think it will be veeeery hot wearing sneakers
Thanks a lot! I'm going to watch other videos for some advice ❤
I'm not familiar with the grip level of Birkenstock sandals. If they're as grippy as good walking shoes, you'll be fine.
@@GreeceExplained thank you! 😊
Thanks.
Hi ! Yes I'm going to release a video on this :-)
The date you chose for the combo ticket is the date (and time) at which you HAVE TO visit the Acropolis.
