- A video shows the tire of an American Airlines plane explode during takeoff Wednesday at Tampa International Airport.
Airline officials confirmed first responders were dispatched to the airway just before 8 a.m. for a "mechanical issue" on American Airlines flight 590 to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

I am so very sorry for the aircraft and for the px who were on board, and I do certainly hope that no one was injured
I worked at TPA for 20 years and the response was pretty fast. From the firehouse to the plane was almost a mile.
this UA-camr has no clue!!
You guys need to understand that rescue units cannot enter an active runway until ATC clears all incoming and outgoing aircrafts 😬
Na what do you mean? You’re telling me the plane just can’t swerve around them????yes I’m being a smart guy here
@@NotAJosh .................... motovichels are not allowed on the turmak without permission plus aircrafts have the right away , they can't swreve around they weigh tons and moves at a slower speed .
@@MCWM8589 He was joking! He even said he was joking!
Response time is like "...lets sit and finish this coffee there is still some time..... why rush"
That has never been my experience. The airport firefighters are usually Johnny on it
❤❤😊
@@montanacrone8984
@@montanacrone8984Why were the passengers not evacuated? Why wait so long?!
This video is 8 minutes long and the door of the aircraft wasn't opened. Much too long.
This is very serious and scary
What a drama queen 😒
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Response time looked like around four minutes. That’s not bad. What do you guys expect, the trucks to spawn like magic? lol
Somebody in another video said the commentary is very reminiscent of South Park… haha
He sounds like he listens to Big Jet
I knew this voice sounded familiar 😅
Airport employees got their hours cut.
Don't diss my boy Steven markovitch
Something I notice with many airports during many incidents: It took the fire truck forever to get to the planes, where every second counts (in terms of human life, fire progression). Remember the sooner they can stop the fire, the less damage and the faster the runway can reopen, saving millions $ from delays). Yet the way airports structure and design fire rescue system is 99% the same 50 years ago, nothing improve. Like nobody sits down and says: How can we make the time reduced by 50%, design fire station that says underground at each end of runway, "specialized airport" fire hydrants, etc. Just need CREATIVITY MINDS, and willing to improve.
You are so right!
Without any incident the truck will be roaming around like death
The incident occurred on an ACTIVE runway. The ATC needed some time to redirect all inbound and outbound flights to other runways. Fire trucks 🚒 don’t enter an active runway unauthorized.
somebody call krispy kreme and tell the emergency crews they better get back to work.
The screaming commentary was not necessary. They were load and obnoxious
Absolute correct. THE FAA roules is strong about fire and tipology this case, the fire start from the tire.because departed sure are lot fuel.the explosion tire damage the wing? (I JUST REMEMBER CONCORD AT ANY TIME). NOBODY SAY. BUT THE CREW AND PASSENGERS STILL SIT DOWN, BECAUSE ALL PEOPLE IS SAFE AT ALL.
Loud has a U in it bud... not a A.
Either the news is now hyper fixated with planes and this always happens or traffic controllers/planes just stopped working properly all of a sudden
I think I understand what they're saying... they think there's been a strange increase in the reporting of plane, train and boat accidents over the last several months/years; perhaps due to some conspiracy? But really, the internet and everyone having a camera just makes for a small world, and makes it easier to report accidents, which are likely to be posted in hopes of getting views or going viral 😂 @Gsv-w2q
You would think blown tires are a new phenomenon but any little incident with an aircraft will get the views (especially a boeing) so the news will push like it was a near disaster
Alot of sudden attention. Content creators are putting them on the spotlight
There are 3 reasons. The tire was old/worn out, the tire overheated and blew due to imbalance, and/or the tire was overpressureized.
The airlines should be called out. Someone apparently didn’t do their job and put hundred of people at risk. There should be pressure on airlines to perform without mechanical issues because that can be prevented and it’s normally profit that they put first. I think the Boeing news definitely feeds the fire for news to report any airplane malfunctions.
It’s only been 90 seconds give them a chance to respond
Ended up being more like 6-8 min. Way too long under these circumstances
Sometimes 90 seconds is all they get to get off before something explodes
@@ezmoney1896was no where near 6- 8 minutes!
The plane rolled off runway @00:26 it appears water or foam started @4:18 idk if the video is true time
Exactly…It’s like calling 911 and waiting until they get there. Fire rescue would have been there waiting for them upon landing if the problem was already known before landing.
Props to the cameraman for doing the only job he had. Thanks!!!
Emergency crew were playing chess!
😂 the person recording should be the director of the airport
The cameraman, what does he know about emergency procedures?! Annoying!
lol it was like 30 seconds he was like where are the trucks
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to evaluate it was a dangerous situation. So the cameraman should have been nonchalant about it? That probably would have annoyed you as well. Props to the cameraman for showing concern!
@@rreeves4770 You are right. Thank you for your comment; your opinion matters 😀
The cameraman is a retired airline pilot and he also video tapes, airline departures and arrivals at Tampa international airport, where this is every single day. He has a UA-cam channel as well. So that's where he gets his experience from.
He was looking at the fire station and Saw no response you timmeh
737 tire explosions are quite common. These blowouts also cause substantial damage to the inboard flaps, hydraulic lines on the landing gear, and other areas. Usually, it's a tire recapping defect from a cheap vendor.
Good thing this camera person isn't an air traffic controller.. gets far too excited. LOL.
Warren Zevon Excitable Boy
For your information he is a retired airline Captain and he supplied the video, he does one every day so another know it all puts in his 2 cents worth if that.
@@sharonshoop495 Speaking of 2 cents worth...... how does a retired airline Captain compare to an air traffic controller? Now supposedly this Captain supplied the video, but does that mean he was the camera operator? You seem to know-it-all?
@@sharonshoop495for your information, he is a complete fool yelling and screaming roll the trucks ,roll the trucks as the plane is still going down the runway! And dopes like you feed right into it.
@@ThisOldMan-ya472 from what he said if you would have listened the tower would not have seen what happened but the cockpit panel would have shown the blown tires and he would have activated the aborted take off. So sick of you know it all's. Quit watching and you are as bad as fake news media. So sick of everyone being God which you aren't!!!!!!
Unbelievable delay on the part of emergency services!!!
Maybe if the dude yelling "Roll the trucks, Roll the trucks" would have yelled louder, he would have been heard by the Emergency Crew!🗣📢. Although it took over 4 minutes to put the tire fire out and no ambulances were dispatched (during the video) it would make you think everyone got out safely.
You can see how fast the pilot reacts, seconds after the tire blew, obviously the tower told the crew to abort takeoff and then they immediatly engaged reverse thrust
Well technically it was their decision to abort according to procedure
You're an expert, it sounds like! 🤦
There are many, many jobs on ground crews. I can't believe they did not evacuate through tail exit! But someone already said crew may not have known tires on fire. With the extraordinary heat we've been having in Tampa with no rain, tarmac stays very hot.
@@InfiniteTransit If the tire is on fire they must stop if the runway is long enough.
@@E.N-z9q you know I’m a pilot in training? As long as they don’t hit V1 speed (Vitesse) then they are able to abort.
Too slow...the fire truck...😭😭
I assume the Media will blame Boeing for a blown tire made by Michelin, and maintenance by Tampa International Airport
It's going to be some people flying for free for a long time
That's all you care about? You sound like a minority...who's ruining this country.
Not how it works, they get a free flight to their home/destination no more that isn’t a fatal incident.
SO glad it was able to stop
Kudos to the pilot for following procedure. Being prepared, and springing into action, knowing when the takeoff could be safely be aborted.
Do yourself a favor and mute this guy
Get over it. he has been there and done that. Look him up. he spots every day from Tampa.
@@sharonshoop495 he's an idiot.
Lived in tampa for 29 years always seeing Tampa International airport training putting out fires ... What is taking so long🤔
emergency service response timing is appalling . . . that runway needs to be shut to clear the scattered debris field . . .
😊. It usually happens on take off not landings.
No it usually happens on landings
Almost witnessed another Concorde disaster.
Seriously?! Just because he blew a tire, doesn't mean that another jet will depart behind him, ingest a piece of debris into the engine, and crash. This has absolutely NOTHING in common with the Concorde. 🤦
Concorde was something different.
I was in that plane and EVERYONE was panicking smh….I was drunk AF and feeling great…lol…

It's always Boeing and Airbus 😂😂😂
Because combined, they make 99% of the planes.
no, it is allways Boeing

That was way too much time to respond to this emergency. 😠
Should have used American Tire Depot. They have extended warranty 😅
The trucks got there pretty fast despite all the screaming by the teenage girl commentary.
Teenage girl is crazy when it's a grown retired airline captain
Good thing the runway long enough that they were able to stop be4 take off
Now imagine if the tyre exploded in the air... Lol
No wayyyy Florida airport fire deparment and comunication is suckkk , take a long time to proceed in an emergency , whoever was at fault .
It's an airport, you want fire rescue plowing through plane traffic?
Were they not allowed to use the emergency chutes?
Why?
@@erauprcwa
To get people out.
Very slow response by fire service.
Also, would not be a good idea to have a fire station positioned closer to the runways?
How can he possibly know what the tower knows??? Such arrogance.
It is a good thing that the a/c was Not at V2 because then the a/c would Not have been able to stop so very quickly
If the aircraft was at V2, it would be flying.
@@pilotusa exactly. He probably meant V1😂
The airport tower says emergency procedures were in place.
Where are the trucks? Realize it takes time to dispatch and communicate with the tower to divert incoming landings and takeoffs. The last thing you want is a unsafe unsecured emergency area.
What is the problem with Emergency?
But now there is plenty of FOD on the runway that Must be removed a.s.a.p so as Not to create a new hazard situation for another A/C
I think u guys should take a chill pill . It amazes how u think everything happens instantly .
Well when a plane is on fire you kinda hope they respond kinda quick you timmeh
The guy speaking is annoying and overly dramatic
FIRST OF ALL HE KNOWS THAT THE PLANE WAS JUST FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH FUEL - FUEL EXPLODING WITH ALL THOSE ABOARD WOULD BE FRIED. HE ALSO HAS A FRONT ROW SEAT AT WHAT HAPPENED AND CONTINUED TO GO ON UNTIL THE EMERGENCY VEHICLE FINALLY SHOWED UP. BE THERE LIVE AND LETS SEE HOW CALM YOUR SORRY BUTTTTT WOULD BE...
Meanwhile a semi has a blowout, hits 5 oncoming vehicles and a house at 65mph
And the obnoxious cameraman survived.
Shut up dude if you saw something like that you when get exited too.
Wow. Took 4 minutes for the fire trucks to arrive. Must have been a delay in the call.
The trucks must stay out of the way of other planes too. They just can’t put on the sirens and expect planes to get out of the way like cars on a road.
And it's a Boeing 737.
I am quite sure that the px had to descend on to the tarmac, but hopefully they were able to find the jet bridge and their luggage
The guys narrating should be a sport caster 😅
Fire fighters are sleeping
Does this guy know anything about response procedures?
Yes, he does. He is a retired captain and regular plane spotter. The response time was actually too late according to the Tampa airport fire crew and they all had to get trained better for the incident. Kinda sounds like you are uneducated
@@Unique_Avgeek so desperate to put everyone around you down. Pathetic stay at home dads
The amount of times an airport firetruck is called is far less than the calls city fire stations receive. I'm sure these airport crews get lazy as a result.
That cameraman is so annoying
Shut up.!!!!!!!!!!!! he is a retired Airline Captain that does spotting every day at Tampa and if he hadn't got that footage you wouldn't have anything to flap your jaws about
So are you bud shut up he does commentary if you don't like it mute you timmeh

Does he think trucks can be there in one minute????
Wow, fire crew at lunch
Reminding me of Air France…
Why arent the slides deployed 😡😡😡😡
I cannot believe they did not evacuate out tail door!!!
Tail door?
Why the people late to get out ?
Real hard to see with those trees in the way.
I'd like to think the pilots would've deployed the escape chutes if they realized there were flames.
Yes there was a fire but it wasn’t a fire that was threatening the life of people on board captains usually don’t evacuate the plane unless they have no other choice because during an evacuation many people will get hurt rushing to the exits
Tampa FD got to work on there response time 😂
There’s always something with Boeing smh 🤦🏽♂️
Almost as if they’re the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world 🤯
What took the fire trucks so long?
Am wondering why they didn’t open the emergency exit doors ASAP immediately the plane stopped with all the fire.🤷🏾for people to get out.
All the airport employees got their hours cut. Thanks democraps.
Why is no one board being evacuated from the burning plane? Are they waiting for the flames to reach the cabine for them to deploy the emergency inflatable exit chute? Sometimes, too many rules and regulations just make things more unsafe. The other day I was watching a video of that Russian superjet100 that crashed landed few years back in Moscow, it was crazy how fast those flames took over, just like in this case they have all those people seating duck in that burning sealed tight coffin of a plane waiting for fire fighters to arrive, that's ridiculous.
Is this TIA?
Eeees a low rider now man 😎
Let me guess…. Boeing???
Boeing has nothing to do with a tire blowout… other there was debris on the runway or American took to long to replace it the tire. You idiots need to stop assuming that Boeing is at fault for everything
nothing has to do with boeing
Let me guess... do you think Boeing makes tires? They don't even make the engines. 😂😂😂
Typical response from a minority. Ignorant, quick to place blame, not surprising of the culture. 🤦
lol! Relax dude! Is just a tire. I can tell the videographer IS NOT a pilot! lol Love the drama.
He literally is a retired pilot you timmeh
Nor do I believe that it was the fault of Rotable Parts, but it was a horrible accident
I suspect the brakes were really HOT and caused a fire.
It was a blown tire you timmeh, ever heard of friction? Rims scraping on the concrete
Just an example of why road trips are better than flying
If you say so lol
Why did the captain didn't start evacuation procedures immediately 🤔🤔 I would have opened those emergency doors 🤫 😬 after it came to a stop thank God everyone on board is safe now.
