I'm glad they drove the point home on shot placement in relation to your environment, even in a training scenario!

So many good training points here as always. I loved Chris’ comments about telling your side of the story and then also his critique of point shooting vs target shooting. Overall i think he did a great job!

People always call the boyfriend, boss (etc) when the should be calling the cops FIRST. The last thing anyone needs is to be involved in a self defense shooting that could have been avoided. The best fight is the one you get to avoid, or walk away from.

Another great one!! A lot to take from this and there are a lot of people out there that don't have insurance and this could easily get out of hand... or not.

That girls needs some training on listening to his commands in those situations. In both cases she just stood there.

She was told to stay there at least the second time by the crew. The first time she did move but I'm sure there was a set of parameter told to her before the scenario.

In such a bad situation, EVERYTHING is a compromise, and instinctive shooting from a short distance very well may win the day. In this, there IS no "do it this way."

All I know is when someone says "I got something for ya" It's usually a gun, who says that for insurance? Lol tough scenario, Jonathon did pretty good.

I really need to improve my pistol marksmanship. I do martial arts and I’m comfortable up close. I just don’t think I’d do well at any kind of extended range with a pistol.

Totally disagree with you about point shooting in a self defense situation. Because, based of my experiences in the military, the situation dictates how you will need to fire your weapon.
However I do agree that if the situation allows draw your weapon from behind cover, never in the open, that goes for reloading to, or if the situation doesn't allow you to do it from concealment, then draw & reload from a kneeling position. That simple motion forces the individual to have to change their point of aim, it's also makes you a smaller target, it allows you to also draw from a stable position & engage from a more stable position.
But disagree with your advice about calling the police & telling them your side of the story, this isn't grade school & the 1st one to the teacher wins. Yes the law enforcement will need to here your side of the story, but in this situation calling the cops, since they already did or are calling, will most likely make the situation even more confusing for the cops that are respond to the call. Better to let them drive off, stay at the seen with the firearm still in it holster & wait for the police to arrive. Comply with any legal commands & then request a attorney or lawyer.
Here's the issue I have with most video about the use of a firearm or carrying of a firearm.
1st, is that somehow telling your side of the story is going to get you out of being arrested, not true. If you carry, just have the mindset that, if for whatever reason you have to either draw or use your firearm & the police get involved your going to jail, period. It's like trying to talk your way out of a speeding ticket, some time you can, most of the time your just going to make it worse.
So, we need to get in the mindset that we are going to be arrested, ask for a attorney/lawyer & shut the hell up.
2nd, is the idea that you must account for every shot & ever action you took. Remember the burden of proof is on the government & as I stated above you should already be assuming you're going to jail & going to be charged. Leave it up to your lawyer/attorney to explain or argue the facts.

If I remember correctly there was a case where a guy at night pulled out and pointed a cell phone at someone and that person shot the guy with the phone and he got away with it. Not every jury is the same. If a cop can shoot someone for turning around fast a citizen should have leniency.

    • @maskedman1980
      @maskedman1980 3 роки тому +1

A private citizen as opposed to a law enforcement officer performing their duty is different. With that said, a lot citizens put in force on force training usually shoot the suspect “armed” with a cell phone.

These training exercises almost seem pointless because the person is 100% aware something "bad" will happen because everyone is wearing paintball masks. Perfect example, people in paintball are way more aggressive in the game because they know they won't actually be killed, same logic applies here, a person can be much more aggressive because "its just a simulation" AND he had a heads up it wad going to happen.......a serious legitimate amount of this does not translate to real life scenarios.

So I'm watching these episodes backwards from most recent to this episode and Chris goes on huge rant about point shooting is a no go ever but I watched an episode that was after this where he's talking about retention point shooting so which is it.. I'm all for the every round you send downrange having a lawyer attached to it but as an instructor you can't say one thing in a video and then a few videos down the road advocate training the very thing you said never to do

It just proves that in order to possess a weapon a pistol a concealed weapon you need to go through extensive training not a 2 or 3 hour class that gets you your full concealed weapons permit These places are all about money and they don't teach you shit and and unfortunately that means innocent people die and innocent people go go to jail you have to take it upon yourself to educate yourself of the laws of owning a firearm and the laws of using a firearm And if you do not have that info and end up in jail because of that that is your fault you have to be very well educated on using a firearm not a 2 to 3 hour class Most people who buy a firearm legally and get a concealed weapons permit have the best in mind but the people who get these permits and guns Are lacking in essential skills and information That are going to cause unnecessary incarceration and unnecessary deaths and unnecessary situations and the person who owns the firearm going to jail Firearms are not a joke one squeeze that trigger And you have ended someone's life You must be sure that it was warranted and if your properly informed And know how to handle a firearm you will have time to think and no freeze up if properly trained you will have time to assess the threat and act accordingly after all most people your going to encounter willnot have firearms training but when you have people geting a firearm with jo training and a concealed weapons permit with just a form you have no skills operating that firearm probably less than the bad guy That is why they need to Have a mandatory class just to purchase a firearm let alone conceal carry a firearm then Carrying a firearm Openly is legal but completely stupid because you are going to be the number one target in a situation where you have to use your firearm It's like having a clown costume on And the bad guy is looking for people in clown costumes All you're doing by open carrying is making yourself a big target And basically making the situation worse The whole point of having a firearm is people not knowing that you have the Firearm because in some situations you might not want to use that firearm it might not warrant using a firearm but by open carrying any bad guy is instantly going to be concerned with the guy who is open carrying a gun And why would you open carry a gun anyway after all of those facts There is a few reasons they think that it is cool Or they want to challenge laws of open carrying Now if you're carrying an assault rifle Or any gun that is larger Then you can conceal That is fine as long as the situation warrants you carrying you carrying that firearm which in most cases these days it is not warranted People need to stop playing around with guns So they can impress their friends or so they can boost their ego or think they're cool Guns are not a toy they're a tool of last resort To defend innocent People who are put into bad situations Nonetheless I do agree that People do need to bear arms pistols assault rifles machine guns Major weaponry systems in this day of age People need to be ready to defend Themselves and their family and what they need to survive a situation that might be coming soon but they need to be trained

I had a situation where I honked my horn because a guy pulled out in front of me. I thought nothing of it at the time just let it go I pulled into a business because I needed to go there the guy pulled into it as well in front of me he stops at the entrance inbox me in. I drew my gun and had it aimed at him when he was walking up to my car. I didn't realize he had road rage at the time of pulling in. I almost shot him luckily I had Trigger Discipline. He just wanted to yell and scream over me honking I feel like I would have been Justified but I don't know. I live in Kentucky and it is a stand your ground state. I had no intentions of carrying on an interaction with this guy when I pulled into the business I let it go because we all make bonehead moves it wasn't a big deal.
