Zarya is a low skill tank but a high skill character. Zarya is better played if you are a mechanical god hard tracking everyone. Tank skills like positioning game sense, ability tracking pressuring the right characters, dictating tempo all don't do anything. Anytime Zarya is meta is filled with Zarya players from OW1 and DPS player rather than traditional tank players.

tbh i feel like he just can't help but complain. this was probably the best patch in ow2 so far, and orisa was actually really bad after her huge nerfs, she deserves to be bad, but not a nothing pool of sludge that just stands there. reaper isn't purely tank buster and has an actual role in fights now, hog got gutted, actually fun heroes like JQ and dva were buffed, new cass flashbang is so much better than mag grenade (not perfect but still he needs some amount of tracer counterplay), soj is gonna be way healthier, and illari isn't just a 3rd dps. admittedly i am worried about a mauga meta but blizzard can fix that hopefully. Even the title just yells "TANKBUSTERS BUFFED" to try to get views and people to complain, but when you actually look at the changes, none of the reaper changes affect interactions with tank at all, they're explicitly designed to increase his flank style, which is the objectively more fun playstyle.

I mean he said in the past before s9 that all these micro buffs to certain heroes are gonna make them broken (soj, Orissa, and Maui) same thing happened to hog🤷 can't help but recognize blizzards pattern. Flats isn't always correct, but he is most of the time when it comes down to tank and tank busters

Seriously, I was actually just listening to an episode of Group Up where Flats was saying the 3 second shatter would be huge if it wasn't for suzu. Maybe we'll see more Rein this season, that would be awesome.
I mean it's a more fair interaction now because you can still use suzu to heal and make them invulnerable, but it won't cleanse the knockdown. So kiriko gets to keep her counterplay against earthshatter without it being straight up busted.

I'm a kiri main and I thought shatter would go through suzu, (I properly started playing close to end of season nine like a week or two before the cowboy bebop collab.) so when I found out it didn't I felt disgusting. like it's reins whole ass ultimate, why could a dinky bell beat the stun. i found out it beat shatter by trying to get the invul and heal for when the rein shattered me and my team and we just stood back up.
They still get the invincible and will probably get airlifted by a life weaver still.
Can't wait to actually get to play as Sym for about two hours before she's locked back into her cage!

Armor gets changed to help reduce the damage of tank busters, but in doing so it is less effective against every other her. Now tank busters are buffed again so now tanks are bad against tank busters AND everything else. Awesome

I like to understand it, to understand what is strong and how it changes, but I don't care about metas, I don't use meta characters. I like to play dive and sometimes rush and that's it

I feel like part of why the dps passive feels bad aside from making tanks less tanky is that tanks also have a way harder time killing things without a dps to help.
Higher health pools + no way to apply healing reduction = tanks killing is extremely slow if a support looks at the target
Yep that’s the whole problem with ball. If your dps aren’t shooting you literally cannot kill a support anymore without having to reload halfway thru and then by the time you’ve reloaded you have to get back out

Dva and Reaper changes only really make them better against smaller targets so tanks, bastion, torb and brig still do better against them than before the armor changes
And also, Cassidy nade is now point blank range only, fan the hammer is less effective and counter-charging eachother is less punishing for both players now. All of these things benefit tanks so I wouldn't complain

They didn't buff Lucio Boop... or are you referencing the change from 4 months ago which was the main reason tanks got more knockback resistance.
Lucio was buffed before the tank passive so the tank passive still helped for that, whole hog got nerfed because the times when the knock back matters are niche compared to it doing more damage by pushing you out of its range less, and queen isn't even really knockback so it probably should have never applied in the first place but that's just how the game is coded
two of those are also tanks tho, and it’s still less than a non-tank gets booped
Boop was pre patch. Hog ult knockback is GOOD for tanks because they get knocked away before the damage shreds them. And let's be honest, the Queen knife pull on tanks was a joke after the knockback changes.

Patch notes from next season: Kunai have been adjusted to only deal normal crit damage. Kunai also explode after a short duration for 100% damage. Each kunai hit on a target resets the timer and doubles the explosion radius. This explosion happens even if the kunai misses. The fox in Kitsune Rush chases people now.
Man, I can't wait to just randomly die, because I was walking behind my tank, just as Sojourn shoots her railgun.
Also aren't those chance just gonna make her stronger, because let's say Sojourn can fire 2 full-charged shots within 5 seconds, dealing 260 damage. But now, thanks to the buff, she'll be able to fire 3 full-charged shots, in those 5 seconds, dealing 300 damage

I don't think too many people are realizing that Sojourn Railgun pierced before, it was just linked to Overclock exclusively. The reason people don't realize that is because how little it ever happened. If you didn't get pierced killed during Overclock basically ever, you're probably not getting pierced killed during a normal Railgun shot either. And if you are then second question, why are you standing behind me please go to the high ground and help me defend the payload while I stay down here as JQ

sym is the least picked hero in the game but any time she gets a slight buff, majority will complain. kits like sojourn are a lot more problematic than syms in my opinion but she constantly gets buffs.

Cause she is just not a healthy character for the game and never has been. Theres a reason she has been reworked so much. Beam characters in general are just unhealthy, and she has 3 turrets that fucking slow you on top of that. Not a fun character, should be buffed so that shes usable if we are keeping her in the game, but should never be meta because its one of the least fun things to fight against in this godforsaken fucking game.
@@thatothertrashcan you act as if the turrets are a detrimental part of her kit, legit takes 30 seconds for her to get all of the turrets back, 10 seconds each, just for the turret to be one shot and kill a person slower than punching someone to death. and if we are talking about her beam, you quite literally are either giving her charge willingly are just not pushing her enough. its really not hard to counter a sym, especially if you can tell that their team is not coordinated with her.

CC is universally hated, turrets have been hated since day one overwatch, and beam characters are constantly problems when even slightly powerful. She’s been constantly nerfed for 3 seasons straight now. While overpowered hero’s constantly get buffs. Dismantling turrets don’t take long and her beam charge is not at full charge all the time. With syms wall and teleporter I think she’s amazing for the game and is the reason why most teams in comp games have an ounce of organization. But I do feel blizzard will end up giving her a rework because they only seem to nerf her rather than give an actual good buff.

Suzu nerf, I can deal with that farely, The swift step CD I feel it and it hurts. Its now not as advantageous or forgiving when baiting enemy CDs out like genji's SS on the flank as an example.
@@ArcOkamiiswift step is still fine. Being able to tp through walls is insane, and a longer cooldown on swift step has been necessary for a while. With the right team, you could play kiri like sombra, which is just gross.

Rein players are the mercies of tank, they never stop complaining, want the whole team to flex around them being a one trick, and think rotating M1 and M2 should give them the same value as more skillful heroes in their role

@@neilmallick20that’s just it, that’s all you CAN do with rein. Rein is a tank that is difficult to get value out of since he was designed at a time in which tanks were just that: tanks
Now he is the only tank that can do no damage while keeping up his main line of defense
Rein players are suffering BECAUSE the hero can do so little. If all you can do is one thing, you might as well be good about it.
Mercy is a character made to stay close to her team and use mobility to keep safe. She is all about being in risky positions all for great reward in her healing beam or damage boost. Now she has the worst healing and usually can’t swap to her damage boost if she wants her team to stick alive. Compare that to bap who can do her job from a distance with splash healing grenades which I KNOW you ain’t gonna pretend like it takes skill to land and the value that Bap outputs eclipses her
Rein is a tank that needs to know when to prioritize offense and defense. Boiling it down to switching to m1 and m2 is a gross simplification that leaves out one question: WHEN do you switch? If you use firestrike or swing your hammer, you no longer have a shield and are offering a fraction of the defensive value. If you use your shield, you are giving zero offensive value. You can’t just place up a shield and then start hitting m1 like a Sigma, you lock yourself out of damage to deploy your defense. Not only that but you need to know when to charge since even a presumably safe charge leads you shieldless and facing towards a wall which is, believe it or not, not usually where your enemies are. All of this balancing act and what do you get? A character who provides just as much if not less defense than other tanks who can dish out equal or more damage at the same time
Reins and Mercys complain because you can master their respective gameplay loops, get it down to a SCIENCE, and what do you get out of it? The same amount of healing or defense as someone who can do it all with zero sacrifices to any offensive abilities.
Instead of complaining about someone complaining, try and understand WHY they are complaining first because by your oversimplified logic of a rein rotating m1 and m2 being brainless and worthy of a worse character, Ram, Sigma, and Dva should be WORSE than garbage because they don’t even have to rotate
@@neilmallick20 Rein is way more egregious than Mercy to play with, the guy needs Lucio speed and a heal bot support to follow him around all game while he uses his caveman brain to unga bunga and club people over the head. The worst Mercy does is force you into Lucio/Mercy duo 1 in every 30 games

Us Rein mains can’t get a win 😭 my biggest irk in Overwatch is spending 30 seconds weaving in and out of cover and coordinating movement with your team to create space just to get speared by the horse… and now it’s on a faster cooldown

Suzu getting nerfed is wayyyy bigger of a deal. Indirect rein buff for sure. Orisa being able to spin 1 second faster is nbd at all, who cares.
Removing the homing effect from hinder is only going to lead to it being thrown at the tank on cooldown every single time now, just a sleep dart 2.0.
Blizzard really didn't think this one through.
It looks like it has an area of effect so realistically you can chuck it in the general direction of a flanker and the hinder would work, maybe it has less range but I concur landing it on a Tracer became easier.

Not really. Given it works like flash did, flank characters like tracer can actually be hit by the damn thing. The slowdown on reaper makes it a lot easier to kill him whilw you back out of his effective range. Lucio can’t outrun it anymore. Sojourn can’t just slide past it.
If you only throw it at the tank you’re using the ability incorrectly.
They want the cowboy to be a dickhead for some reason, why can't they just make him fun? Give him an Ultrakill coin or an AOE ability rather than just recycle the same shit they were going to remove in the first place
@@emilior934 Tanks are meant to absorb damage, not CC. Cass hindering tanks over DPS because nades are much harder to hit does not make the game better in any way. You're just locking out the tank more while reducing Tracer/Genji/Sombra/Pharah counterplay, which is literally what Cass is designed for.
played dva today and it felt so good it felt like I was actually doing damage for the first time in a while
the thing that confuses me most about the sojourn buff is how they said they wanted to reduce the frustration from playing against her burst damage, then to compensate they buffed her primary fire to fire faster making rails charge faster for the low low price of -30 damage
they could've increased her mag size to buff her primary giving it more sustain in fights, buffed her primary fire damage to make her need less sustain in a fight, increase her projectile speed to make her effective range just a bit longer yet they picked one of the only stats except increasing her accuracy that would also buff her right click
Hot take if they micro buff queen in the mid season patch we might see a queen meta where she dominates hog mauga and orsia and be a great tank

Here's my personal thoughts on the patch notes:
>Give Cass a Grenade that can ricochet/bounce off of terrain and walls, make it flat explosive damage and allow him to shoot it mid air for additional interactions. Gives him a good way to flush out heroes in cover without exposing himself to hard.
>Remove Kiriko (Mostly Joking) or rework her entire kit. Kiriko fundamentally subverts the balance of the game with her kit. She is uniquely bad for the game. She is risk free and has the single strongest cooldown in the game by a landslide margin.
>Remove Horse (Mostly Joking) or rework her entire kit. Nobody likes horse or their mains. Revert the changes to OW1 but remove her barrier for Javelin (With a longer cooldown). Makes her a CC supportive Tank instead of an immortal harasser nobody has fun dealing with.
>Never let Mauga have nice things. Wall v Wall meta is never fun for anyone. Straight lobotomy gameplay that almost 90% of the time devolves into which teams Mauga dies first.
>Stop buffing Sojourn. Sojourn is arguably worse for the game than Kiriko. Her burst dps makes her almost impossible to deal with outside of good sniper players and organized dive attempts, and that's without factoring a mercy pocket. It isn't fun getting bodied halfway across the map because a pocketed Sojourn got railgun from farming off your tank player doing his job.

Now for changes I'd personally like to see in the game:
>Give Rein additional movement speed and beef up that shield. And potential hot take, but make shatter wider.
>Remove Mercy dmg boost for a chargeable skill shot attack. Make her healing beam give out higher hps. Remove revive for a damage boosting 'bless' that last's for a short period. Make her Ult an instant revive for ONE hero only. This is an incredibly bare bones idea that is meant to make her more engaging and maintain her central 'Guardian Angel in The Middle of a Warzone' Identity. I want to play Mercy, but her gameplay of being a DPS's cheerleader 90% of the match while the entire enemy team makes me play Dead by Daylight isn't exactly what I call 'fun' to be honest.
>Remove lamp immortality and replace it with a strong healing AOE on a smaller CD. Bap's identity has always been the 'burst healing/dmg guy' first and foremost, Immortality Lamp has always felt like an afterthought to force his kit to make substantial impact no matter the state of the game.
>Remove Life Grip and replace it with a temporary Life Shield, gifting the player with an over-health buff. Life Grip is an anti-fun ability that punishes players for trying to capitalize on another players mistake, and coddles players who make mistakes and incentivizes them to make risky plays with almost no foreseeable punish. It's also the main tool of unfunny people who'd Mei wall spawn if they were DPS.
>Remove discord for a healing reduction debuff.
>Remove the passive effects each role has. They are a bad idea and only express the flaws of 5v5 (They kill individual character expression with blanket changes nobody asked for).
>Lower health universally. 800HP tanks are ridiculous and their existence only expresses how mismanaged Overwatch's balancing is.
>Lower damage universally. But not as hard as health/healing. Returns Overwatch to naturally punishing instead of punishing intermittently when the supports mess up.
>Lower healing universally. Reduces the chance of 'Wall v Wall' gameplay scenario's and incentivizes using positioning and strategy rank-wide over 'Sit in one spot and spam damage in one direction with an occasional flank/dive' most games end up being.
>No idea how, but make Brig a likeable character during gameplay. Most players are not good at Brig, but the ones that know to essentially puppy guard supports until Ult are just a nightmare.
>Make Moira's Drain a skillshot or similar to whatever her Healing Thing in called. Moira is a pest and everybody knows it. Damage Orb should have a visual range of effect underneath it, make it optional or something in the settings if people want to reduce visual clutter. But a visual range to the ball of doom would reduce the chances of Moira getting random picks because she uses the ball on CD.
>At least flirt with the idea of returning 6v6. 2/2/2 Just felt better than 1/2/2 has been feeling. And with Sigma being the only barrier meta hero left, it's not like the 'shield meta' argument even holds water. The only reason it killed the game was because Blizzard abandoned the game and did nothing to balance it for TWO YEARS.
>Give Reinhardt a lifeguard skin with a speedo.

>Give OW2 a TF2 collab skin line: Scout Tracer, Phara Soldier, Mei Pyro, Demoman Junkrat, Heavy Roadhog/Mauga, Torb Engineer, Mercy Medic, Widow Sniper, Sombra Spy. Pay homage to direct inspiration if Valve is willing to do literally anything with the game. And make the OW cast just wear the uniforms of the Mercenaries, having TF2 models in OW2 would be horrifying for balance and art direction.
Note: All ideas are malleable and subject to critique and rebalancing, I came up with them as I was writing. I put fun before balance and so should you. As balance is the path that killed Retail WoW and left Starcraft II in the dust. I won't even mention the tragedy that is Diablo. And what is now strangling the cold dead corpse of Overwatch.
Additional Note: I'm not here to start an argument, just a dialogue about saving Overwatch with changes people may want rather than lukewarm nothing patches that make unfun strong characters stronger. You are free to be a contrarian for the sake of it, you are free to disagree with my sentiment. I choose the path of fun and engaging across-the-board; over serious, competitive and "balanced". TF2 never tried to be a competitive game, but its rock solid gameplay and identity earned it a competitive scene that is still kicking to this day and arguably more alive the OW 2's even after more than a decade. And even with TF2's comp scene, TF2 is at its core is: Goofy, fun, skillful, and interesting from a story/lore perspective that takes itself pretty seriously at times when it needs to. And I think OW should try to hold itself to similar rules: Fun, engaging, team-based, and a fast-paced, high skill ceiling game that incentivizes playing with and making friends who share a similar drive to improve at the games wide range of mechanics and succeed with team-based and individual skill expression.

If Blizzard is buffing tanks like, Hog, Orisa and Mauga based on low win rates, all I have to say is "skill issue" make people actually work to improve on those characters rather than get free value.
I had an idea of the other day of allowing tanks to also apply the DPS passive. This would make it easier for tank to secure kills, which is the main issue I run into when playing tank

have i understood correctly that the cass nade will now no longer disable abilities but will give a target a lot slower movement? or is the ability lockout still present
They replaced the lockout with cant crouch or added it, but the duration is not noticeable, because it applies when exploded cause you cant get stuck with it anymore for a whole second and until it explodes. You get dazed for a bit then you can move and use movement abilities
At this point they should just give Rein one season of being giggabuffed
And a hero ban system so he’s banned that whole season

as a sombra player the buff to illari healing pylon is actually super annoying since before you could easily go into backline and 1 shot the pylon with virus, now you have to shoot it a little as well...

Honestly this patch is a huge W. I hard disagree with flats on this one. Cass changes made me nut when I first saw them. Roll damage reduction nerf, fan the hammer nerf, AND nade gets reworkes to be like old flashbang but without a full stun? Yes please. Ult change is weird, but I'm fine with them experimenting with it because the ult does need some changes.
Sym, reaper and mei get buffed sure, but they were all pretty dogshit and the changes are a much bigger deal against squishies than tanks.
Soj changes are a nerf. Insane to think otherwise honestly all it takes is examining the changes for a moment to realise that the one nerf is way more impactful than the three buffs put together (especially since one of those buffs is basically just compensating for the indirect nerf to her ult, which it doesn't even do fully).
Queen and dva were bad. Buffs are fine. The knife pull was a but of a joke on tanks after the knockback resistance increase, though they may have gone a but far with this it feels really strong now.
Illari changes are fine, but honestly I think she may need a partial rework to ever be relevant without feeling oppressive.
Oh. And Hog nerfs

I have NEVER understood why a cowboy has a grenade. Give him a lasso that works like Brig’s whip but pulls them towards you (similar to hook but not as direct) that would do minor damage over time and synergise with fan the hammer. Problem solved.

The devs have no idea how to fix tank. They broke tank by going to 5 vs 5, and just made it worse with new orisa and mauga. Just remove tank at this point. Thats the only solution i can see besides 6 vs 6.
Just remove Mauga orisa hog and make sombra hack an actual skill ability and nerf tank busters into the ground then tank would be better
@@tomn4483 mauga, hog, and orisa as dps would actually be fine. Just shrink their models/hitboxes, adjust their abilities for the role and it could work. Hog is already just a beefy dps, mauga is just a hitscan reaper with burn, and orisa is just unkillable torb with no turret. The thing they all have in common is high self survival ability with little to no team protection ability, the exact opposite of what tanks should be. Junker queen has her shout to protect her team, rein, sig, winston, rammatra all have shield, zarya bubble, dva matrix,Doom doesn't have any direct protection but displacement kind of does that a bit, same for ball but at least he has shield share now too I suppose. The point is, i dont see anyone complains about those tanks, but hog orisa mauga? Everyone hates them no matter what role they play. The tanks and dps hate that they are unkillable, and the dps and supports hate that they aren't helping them survive as well.
@@kamehameharem The reason mauga hog and orisa are so hated is because they are tuned townards being tank-busters while having way too much survivability on their own. Orisa and hog are limited by their character design. Hog would just explode if he wasn't able to survive a nuclear bomb, and so would orisa. mauga is just straight up designed to shoot the other tank to keep himself up. So first up, theyre all just design mistakes. There is no reason why they should also turn off the enemy tank on top of (or because of) their survivability - like look at hog hook, literally everything about mauga, or orisa javelin and spin. I think, ironically, theyve been overtuned to the point that they would have to be reworked were they to fit into a 6v6 system.

I am crossing my damn fingers they leave the big three problem tanks exactly where they are because they're mostly fine where they are right now apart from maybe Mauga needing a small nerf. Brother in Christ, she is countered by half of all characters, her ult is just make her go to respawn, she cannot be in air like before, and on the ground she is helpless, I honestly think she needs small buff to firing rate, and / or rework her ult, because being completely still in shooter games most of the time means death

I think the suzu change is good from a logic standpoint. Suzu being able to make people instantly stand up when they are knocked prone is quite odd if you think about it.
It's crazy that JQ gets a buff to ignore knockback resistance, yet Doomfist gets nothing similar
KIri nerf for suzu is ill informed because it just creates more of the niche interaction issue they claimed to dislike , this seems like a painful change for casual players or even lower ranked grinders who don't read patch notes and will just come off as an inconsistency

@@thebabycow In games that have even slightly healthier design consistencies there wouldn't be a need for nich versions of states as in a moba like smite or dota it is obvious to all parties what state a player is in like silence, rooted or stunned but overwatch decides not to have to tools to communicate clearly what state a player is in even on their own screen as if it says "stunned" you would rationally assume it could be removed the same way as other instances but they chose to do this likely solely because as Samito said to push the new Rein weapon. But as ML7 pointed out it makes the game feel clunkier and unintuitive and to a degree almost punishing to the larger audience that is casual players. The logic of shattered not being wholly similar to "hacked" or "purple" but just the fact they are "negative effects" as outlined by suzu which now just vaguely says "most negative effects"

I think tank busters should be strong, but I also think that more tanks should be like Roadhog. If the only difference between a tank, and a DPS is that the tank lives another 0.5 seconds, then there should exist tanks that can do massive damage on a cool down.
