1:03 for those who doesn't know why minecraft din't crash i think its because of cache memory (im not really sure), essentially the world file is still stored in the cache memory in minecraft that's why it din't crash and will only be gone once minecraft closes.
Even when you close the game it would save said cached file back to the normal position. there is probably also a safety check to see if the files still exist, if not it will prolly rewrite them to where they belong too. the only way the game wouldn't be able to save the data is either through a crash or closing using taskmanager.
"This is totally safe!" Squiddo says cheerily as the game is corrupting around them, screeching in agony at the conflicting instructions. It's totally safe.
The reason it still exists, is because the map had already been loaded into memory, and deleting the actual file would only come into effect as soon as the game actually needs to access the file data
6:22 we're guessing what's happening here is the fact that when you pause the game, the world autosaves! this is defs a thing in modern mc and it might be in that version too :)
the issue with this is that nowadays in order to prevent crashes like that, alot of the world is either saved in a temporary backup, and/or just loads your entire world into RAM which is something you cant normally access, and litterally just allows you to delete files and the computer still remebers it because its saved into ram. i strongly advise trying to mess with ram since data in there is flying around randomly and there is more than a good chance you will brick your computer.
probably something to do with how memory keeps stuff saved while you’re playing even if storage files are deleted :) Think of Microsoft Word-nothing is saved until you press save, but it retains all of the new informattion anyways.
Hey so, i think i know how the off screen bug happened, maybe you were doing some testing earlier and deleted a file that was the general Minecraft collision cells detection. Which made it so that mobs only stopped falling when they were INSIDE the floor instead of touching the floor, but the trees having one block missing may have been a result of something else like data structure being corrupted or smth. Edit: forgot to mention but Minecraft mobs may turn black when they're overlapping with blocks, you can see it for yourself even in the newest versions of the game.
1:40 , the world is still there, cause while the world is saved on your harddrive, while you are on it, everything you do is also saved in your ram and wont be purged until you close the game unless you can somehow get your operating system to purge your ram without your pc crashing
my guess for why nothing happened when deleting the data while in the world is that the chunks you're in are loaded into your ram, and are re-saved whenever you try to delete the save data. I'd imagine doing something in a chunk, leaving that chunk, deleting the data and going back to the chunk might reset it (if it doesn't then the entire save data is being loaded into your ram). I don't actually know if anything I said is true since I don't work at mojang or have any game dev experience so I'm sorry if I'm spreading misinformation.
1:21 The world is in RAM, and is still loaded outside of normal read-write storage. It's similar to when you rm -rf in Linux, not much happens until you unload everything from RAM (power off system)
For anyone thats confused with the "upwards hand" thing, I actually did make this work, but it wont be instantly upwards, sometimes it can be kinda like how the hand looked like in survival 0.26 test, or can just dissapear. Heres how to do it!: 1. ALPHA MINCERAFT!!!! 2. Open inventory. 3. Move with WASD or arrow keyz ( i think you do that i discovered this long time ago ) 4. Close the inventory (while moving). If you open the inventory again, the hand will be normal. Like i said, I dont remember much, if this didnt work, im gonna try a different way, and fix this comment! And idk what version this is patched, so try some different versions if the version YOU tried didnt work. And dont upgrade the version, it will not work, you have to downgrade (go to earlier versions) the version! Thx for reading.
You Got "Comparison method violates its general contract" crash in Old minecraft because Java changed default sorting method in Java 7 or 8 and you need to use a java argument to use the Old one and prevent the crash, also which BetaCraft does automatically. Mobs are inside the floor because they load slightly under the top of the block for some reason (floating point error? not sure) and black because lighting inside of blocks is always 0 so it uses that value. World being deleted didn't crash because it loads everything into RAM and only uses files for loading and saving chunks.
The world format is different so it will just regenerate the chunks and even if you changed it to the old format the game would just crash because those blocks are unknown

This insinuates the idea that every deleted minecraft world still exists in another void of time space continuum, which ultimately means all the abandoned doggos sitting on the world waiting for their owners to come home are still forever waiting.
the reasons that the worlds run at the same time (that i think) is that they both run on the world that hasn't been overwritten by any saves, but since you didn't reload the thingy it says as the source thingy
mobs are dark because they are inside of blocks so lighting is glitching out, also happens in new versions but when those mobs have there upper half's inside blocks
The chunk thing happens when you move the world files around. Like taking it out of the folder and putting it in another in old versions of minecraft. Ex: taking a multiplayer world and putting it into single player to edit and then putting it back into multiplayer will cause those chunk errors.
