Hey thanks for taking the time to show other shanty boats. If you happen to come through Oklahoma sometime I would be happy to take you on a tour of mine.
I really like that rig overall, but I'm not sure about putting the batteries directly under the sink! Talking about the weight, there is a guy down in Louisiana who took a double pontoon and welded in sheet aluminum between the pontoons to create a tub-style full hull. Obviously that's only cost-effective if you can do your own welding, but it certainly addresses the weight issue. I am enjoying this new series of interviews!
On our 25 ft pontoon I can do 35mph. I had to go to the mercury 4 blade aluminum prop just for pontoons. Or I tried a stainless Michigan wheel prop and the pontoon gets on plane with it.
@backwatersandbackroads the big key is the Michigan Wheel vortex xhs ballistic prop. It has a middle pony tube not full tri toon. It plowed the water when we bought it. Would not plane even with 150hp. It planes in seconds with the ballistic xhs prop. The 4 blade Mercury pontoon prop also gets it on plane well. For the lower horsepower engines, that Mercury Spitfire pontoon prop is awesome and saves fuel because you can plane at low rpm and low speed and low horse power. Try one. Just get the pitch right. My Spitfire is a 4 blade aluminum prop. Gets our pontoon on plane easily and keeps rpm in correct range at wide open throttle. Was under $200. With a new hub.
For me the perfect shanty fishing boat would have a double bed a small lounge with eating area combined also a shower and toilet room separate or together and a small diesel outboard motor for economy , thats just me tho wishing 😊 gee that would be fantastic on the river murray in Australia where i come from 😊
Wavey is spoilt for choice. I'm surprised she and her loyal followers haven't gang planked you. Apart from that, excellent guide and commentary, hope to see more. Thanks!
