I’m not ready to create anything but I do enjoy noodling around playing things that I’ve learned. That was very interesting information. I agree about not getting hung up on the garbage. As an art school graduate I learned a lot about beneficial mistakes. And sometimes taking a break can be helpful. I can’t wait to hear your album 💿. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚

I love the writing about what you know because it is very Authentic. People love authenticity. Great video Dave (this is great advice and it can be applied to the visual art too. It’s very similar to how I paint) I love the “No Mind / Flow is Everything”

"Red Giant Kickstarter" should find it for you.
I'd post a link but YouOfTheTubes often auto deletes them.

Playing the song on accoustic, really shows its "bones", I think is what you were saying there.....

I always learn things from your original work, Dave, and continue to learn with every listen. Master class. Also I love Cici's wonderfully melodic improvs; ditto with John Joe's eruptive improvs and solos. All of you have wonderful emotive reach (reaches me, anyway). Might add that I hope you continue to play an occasional cover; they are absolutely brilliant as well. Thank you.

this was great really interesting stuff , not sure if Dave has ever read or listened to any of philosopher Alan Watts but his approach to music is very similar to Watts zen philosophy.

Looking forward to sitting down to this video once I’m back from Thai boxing. Been in a bit of a rut with my “songwriting”. It’s mostly just music writing 🤷‍♂️

what you say Dave@18minute mark about fighting for your un-recorded song when you are the one whose writing the song makes perfect sense because you as the writer have it all down in your head and you have a good idea of how it will unravel as a song and where all the hooks and parts are and how the song will arc. So yes, great advice Dave. Dont forget when you are the writer of a song, that you are the one who knows it best.

Brilliant video Mr Dave, fantastic advice and wonderful encouragement. Greatly appreciated. Leaves me with a glimmer of hope that I might actually write and record something which is what I’ve always wanted to do and was my main reason for learning to play the guitar in the first place.

Just the ticket Dave! I'm in the middle of writing a song, so this has come at the perfect time as I always struggle with lyrics. You never cease to inspire. Very much looking forward to hearing ' The Dark of Me' when it comes out. And I am very much looking forward to watching the commentary videos on each of your songs - great idea. Thanks for all you do!

Great advice! I write down all the riffs I come up with when noodling, at least the ones that sound good. If you watch the Beatles Documentary, the 9 hour one were they did their last live performance on top of Apple Studios, John Lennon and Paul McCartney would write songs like you suggested, they show them making a few songs for that album some even ended up on their last album.

David Lynch once said that it's important to actually write down all your good ideas to make sure that you don't forget them. Some may say that sounds trite, but that just means that they've never fully tried it...
