I currently own a Betta SE Plus, which costs about $300-400 depending upon sales, and the biggest question that I have is... is this unit worth the large price jump? (The iSkim Ultra retails for $1500 or costs $1000 during the pre-order period.) The Betta SE Plus does work fairly well as it allowed me to remove my secondary on-return skimmer device (PoolSkim USA Pool Skimmer), but it does have one huge drawback that the iSkim Ultra *could* potentially best: obstacles. I currently use a corded pool cleaner robot (Maytronics Nautilus CC Plus), and if I don't remove the cleaner when it's done, the Betta SE Plus will just get stuck on the cable and pretty much be a $300 pool float until I free it. In fact, that's one problem that I ran into this afternoon when I realized that I forgot to remove the cleaner last night and there was a bunch of gunk on the surface and my Betta stuck on the cable. Part of the reason why we use pool robots is to avoid having to babysit the pool and ultimately, the robots themselves. So, in my eyes, while I do see the price jump as quite a lot, if it would allow me to not have to worry so much about a cord, I think that does provide a nice value. Although, I think that value mostly holds at the current pre-order price rather than the MSRP.
