Hi Marlon, thanks for all hard work, you make interesting content. Perhaps this is offtopic in this video, but do you have a mastering chain that you prefer? or perhaps a specific software you use for mastering? (Im assuming you do your own mastering)
Hey! Many thanks for your kind words!! I do a ton of commercial mastering for clients, so yeah I do my own mastering ;-) My mastering chain differs a bit from project to project, but if i master on a mix it's very globally like this: First I work in spectralayers 7 to manually reduce resonances , or if it's very constant i use dynamic eq like in fabfilter's pro q3. Then I do some general eqing for width and often add a bit of reverb, this can be waves abbey road chambers for instance, to add just a tiny bit of 3d space when the music is very direct. Then I add some coloring. It can be the Neold v76u73 these days for thickness or the amek200 eq, and often it goes to my neve style outboard hardware ( warm audio wa273 eq) for thickness and stauration and smooth eq. I add then a ssl bus compressor ( hardware) for extra 3d space and glue ( and sound). This can also be the tegeler creme by the way and I'll add limiting using the fabfilter pro l-2 in highest oversampling. That's my global mastering chain.
