Definitely like the approach they took with this series. Donald Glover doesn't miss and he's back with another banger. Their chemistry is fantastic on camera and their problems are very relatable despite being a spy flick.
It was certainly worth watching well acted and I hope a series 2 is forthcoming.
I had to look them up after finishing it to see if they were actually together. Surprised they were not because they definitely had chemistry!

I am not sure if they will do another season, because Donald Glover is writing the new Star Wars movie Lando which he will also star in. Those Star War movies are big budget movies and it pretty much takes up all of your time. He started writing last summer and should have a script some time this year, and he will probably start shooting later this year or early next year.

This is a banger of a TV series. A re-imagining of the premise, and is able to go deeper into the story...which allows us viewers to get to know Mr. & Mrs. Smith even more. Donald and Maya are PERFECT for the roles...and now, they are Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Please give us S2, S3 and even a S4...please.

@@DngnRdr - Well, I'm not sure what you watched, but the two are very different. Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2005 film with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is a TWO hour film. Which, is also the third version of this film...so, it too is a remake.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were pretty much at the height of their careers...and the mixing of their names was the hit.
It is a popcorn film and I enjoyed it, but it glossed over a lot of the topics that could've been dealt with, since it was a TWO hour film. Different take...with different motivations.
The 2024 Mr. & Mrs. Smith TV series is a whole different beast...though it does pay homage to the 2005 film, but is a reimagining of the story...that focuses more on the relationship...than just pure action.
It is also got an overall runtime of 390 minutes (6.5 hours), which includes the credits. So, it is a different beast...indeed.
Love the emphasis on the relationship, First Date, Second Date, First Vacation, Double Date, Do You Want Kids?, Couples Therapy, Infidelity, Breakup.
Like another UA-camr examined Couples Therapy as being a near flawless (if not perfect) episode. The physical/body language of the actors, the dialogue, the colour gradient at the beginning of the episode...and how each of these scenes change as the weeks progress THRU therapy. Amazing...this was TOUCHED in the 2005 film, but briefly.
I get it. You did not like the TV series and we did. I'm okay with that IF you are. BUT, it IS a reimagining of the story.
Oh, forgot to mention...Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are MAGNIFICENT in these parts. We loved their strengths and vulnerabilities...especially in the context of marriage. My wife and I have been married for 25 years, and though we are NOT spies, we've gone through a number of these scenarios...and we really connected with this TV series.

We absolutely loved the first (of many, I hope!) season of Mr. & Mrs. Smith! Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are perfect for the roles! The show is action packed, humorous, uncomfortable at times, relatable at times, all in all well scripted! Looking forward to next episode/season!

They are transitioning that to a pay as you view service, and this is my little way to object. And it seems Amazon doesn’t like my previous responses or the others who commented in the affirmative as those comments have also been deleted along with my responses.

I just finished watching the series yesterday, and I like Donald Glover and Maya Erskine's version better than Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie's version.
I'm absolutely messed up that there may not be a season 2 with Donald and Maya back as the Smiths. They absolutely captured who their characters are in this setting. They truly were the perfect match, the only thing that stood in their way was the company and being unbelievably naive about the red flags it showed them. These two killed their roles, i think it would have helped some viewers if they actually mentioned the months that were passing by during their ups n downs
I think at first I wasn't really interested in what I first saw as a "socially correct" remake of the original. Regardless, one night, I was bored and tried it. G*D D*** it, now I'm totally addicted. One of the best shows I've seen this year. The chemistry between Donald and Maya is amazing. This is above all else a romance between two really believable and neurotic people I just simply fell in love with. Since the ending is ambiguous I'm really hoping for a second season. I can't say I'm that much of a fan of how TV today is really about throwing out "Season One" of a new show mostly as a pilot where "Season Two" is just uncertain. Unlike a regular 2 hour movie, there really isn't that much time to bond with a show's characters. Not so today where a show consists of several hour-long episodes. I'm still trying to figure out how I can "buy" this show. It's just too good to realize it might just disappear into the ether of what entertainment has become today. Enjoy it while you can but be careful since there's only 8 episodes 😞

Her mocking him for the fire scene was hilarious. They felt like that couple that go away with you on vacation and are always fighting and arguing and making it uncomfortable for everyone and the next day they act like it's all good.

I'm a big fan of Donald Glover-- since Community and early Childish Gambino and though I obvi don't know him -- it was fun to watch this bc it was like a nerdy smart kid grew up and got to write himself into a fantasy of many kids, one of mine. A spy movie- but it is oddly relatable (my spouse only saw the fight scene and get really agitated) which means it is realistic. And the dialogue is funny-- they are both really great comedians. Like a light dead pan style. Many lines in my mind- you can hear Childish Gambino's voice. Clever. Sharp. Funny. Goofy. Self-deprecating. And real ridiculousness- without putting anyone down. Minus the ego/bravado of the rapper though. Even the premise- two spy rejects fall in love. Plus I loved a leading lady who is pretty but also regular looking and my husband was like is that the woman from Pen15 and I was like yes I think so, I think that's why they cast her, she's funny. I didn't think there could be chemistry between the characters but it really worked. I couldn't help but thinking how as Childish Gambino has described his interest in Asian women in his music and the fact they're both comics of color , that that didn't play a part with the chemistry. I get why ppl were comparing the movie as it is a remake/riff off the original- I LOVE spy movies, favorite genre after heist movies, but for me this was a fun and interesting adaptation of the classics- serious and funny and exciting and plenty of head nods to the classics.

You really think boycotting will do anything? You’d literally have to convince just about every subscriber to cancel their Amazon Prime. Never gonna happen. Ads provide money for the company to make content. They can’t rely on subscribers alone and if they did your subscription price would be a LOT more than what you’re paying now. Eventually ads come to almost every platform. There’s no escaping it. There are worse things to deal with in life then having to sit through ads. Just deal with it.

I suggest you watch Mr & Mrs Smith in a non-linear order. The plot is too simple to be linear. Try this sequence:
> **Episode 6**: tone and conflict.
> **Episodes 1-3**: backstory and contrast.
> **Episode 7**: climax and choice.
> **Episodes 4 and 8**: resolution and epilogue.
> Skip **Episode 5**: boring and irrelevant.

Amazon deletes negative reviews on Prime, charges too much, and still shows ads. Cancelling Prime. The casting choices in this show are puzzling. Can't buy these two people as leads or spies. They are the "best friends" support cast in a rom com. The show is really slow and boring at times. I played it in background after episode 3. The two leads have zero chemistry. I'm puzzled what Amazon was thinking. Why bother.
