Just wait til you hear his other songs - 200+ great covers... Gethsemane, My mother told me, Battle Hymn, Several Witcher covers, Handel's Messiah, Nessun Dorma -- all fantastic. He's Brazilian - native language is Portuguese. His dad gave him a harmonica when he was 7 (his dad passed away from cancer about 5 years ago). Dan is genuine - pours his whole soul into every performance. Truly epic voice. Do more reactions to his work - it was great!!

AMEN and amen! My all time favorite hymn. I have listened to and been comforted by this song from the day of my acceptance. This is the first time that I actually realized that if sung completely in order the verses tell the entire story of a believers growth from Believer to the assurance and power of a KNOWER. Dan's rendition showed visually and musically the transition from a grateful brokenhearted new convert to a seasoned tested warrior for the Lord. The victorious repetition of the first verse sung as exuberant, never ending praise, but ended with the hushed understanding that the victory is always capped by the gratitude for being given the ability to finally see the unbelievable gift of the Son. WOW, chills head to toe. Loved your reaction. I feel you Adogg, I feel you.

Dan Vasc is the real deal. He has a God given talent & is using it to glorify God. So powerful and moving! I fell across this over a week ago, and immediately started exploring his other songs. Some are a little 'too' metal for this old woman, but others are gorgeous - especially Angels We Have Heard on High! You can tell from his posture, tone placement and technique that he has extensive training, probaly classical.

Absolutely the way this song/hymn was meant to be sung!!!! John Newton wrote this in 1772 after turning from being a human trafficker as a slave ship captain. He would not have written this as mellow, superficial prose. Deep. Heart wrenching. This is the first time I've heard this song in the perspective in which it was written. John Newton became one of the greatest leaders of anti slavery and the Christian church of the early 1800s.
This man is wasting his time he has a gift a lot of people sing this song but there is something in your voice purely AWESOME !!!
He's not wasting his time. He's been approached by labels, but he's way further ahead creatively and financially remaining a truly independent artist who is accountable only to us, his audience. He's an absolutely amazing singer, and I love that he is firmly independent.

Unsure why you feel hes wasting his time? I think hes exactly where hes neant to be. Hes independent; doing what he loves and trained for; & doing it without the constraints of a money hungry corporation.

Dan is the man!! Never have I heard a more beautiful and masterful performance of this old timeless hymn! And I grew up in church. My father was a Pastor (still is at age 78!) I'm a PK (Preacher's Kid) and have suggested this and heard it probably thousands of times throughout my lifetime. The harmonica gets me every single time because my beloved Granny played it beautifully. I want this version at my funeral!! Can't wait to sing with him in Heaven!! God bless you and all who hear it!
