In my film days, I used the Leica M6 35mm rangefinder for shooting street, reportage, landscapes, and travel. I used the following lenses: 21mm f/1.4 Leitz 35mm f/1.4 Zeiss 90mm f/2 Leitz I now use the M10 digital camera with my M6 film camera.
Leica M10 could be just the camera I 've been looking for. With a soul of rustic simplicity; of quietness; that tactile feel of German engineering, of the patina on the brass plates, the beauty of age and wear. I'm 64 and I know the Leica M10 is going to be my friend. Thank Q.
Lenses from 1950 to now?! That’s incredible. I’m really enjoying your videos Q! You’re highly engaging and interesting to listen to- even though I’m not a photographer
Thank you! I think everyone has the ability to be a good photographer. Just pick up the closest picture maker to you and snap a photo of what ever matters to you ^_^
You explained it perfectly. Next time someone asks me why I shoot with my M10 or my older M240, I'll just send them a link to this video. Thanks very much!
Just found your channel, great review on the M10, and your opinionated self reviews of different DSLR camera systems ... I walked away from my Nikons (D750/D850s) due to the weight of the systems with the 24-70mm attached. But, you hit it on the head, the Leica image is what it’s all about. I did shoot with the M6 film and 90mm, back in the day, but evolved like all of us through digital photography and all the systems that evolved (Sony-Fuji film) but, there’s an image that stands above most, and that’s the unique Leica image. So I picked up the Leica Vario-X to start my journey back into digital Leica with automation. I was apprehensive about manual focusing, so the Vario-X was a great re-introduction back to Leica. I then picked up a Leica Q and continued my journey with Leica automation which finally brought me to the Leica 240 w 50mm.....I can see that my end game will be the M10...but which one....probably the M10R just for the higher resolution and last Leica camera..good review ..
I found you a few days ago with your Cuba video. I watched several of your uploads. You make a lot of sense and I'm love your work. Happy New Year, hope 2021 is kind to you.
Totally agree with the Sony's I just ditched my Sony A7R kit and bought the Leica Q2 but I also want to get M6/M7, I'm leaning toward the M7 though based on your other videos. Nice work. Glad I found you and looking forward to your future videos. Would love to see a street video around NYC with the M7
The Q2 is definitely on the list of cameras I want to try soon. I'm sure it's amazing. I'd strongly suggest going with the M7 because of it's ease of use but the M6 is one serious workhorse. Photo Dom has a video of us shooting around NYC with the M7. Check out his channel when you get the chance! Cheers!
You should! I mean... I wouldn't recommend it in the same way that I wouldn't suggest that you buy a Porsche 911 Turbo as your first car but at the same time, who am I to say you shouldn't start with the best of the best!
The M10-D is the camera that I really wanted but the deal I got on the M10 was one I couldn't pass up. Maybe one day soon, i'll get my hands on the more simplified version!
Interesting, i got the same two Leica's 😀👍🏻 i just sent my M10 in for a small upgrade to get the M10P look which i love. Btw love your vids and pics 👌🏻
My first camera in 1958 was a RF, Waltz Envoy with 50 2.0 Nipon Kogaku ( Nikon) lens glued on. When I graduated college in 1964 I GOT A PENTAX System. that migrated to Leica after a loan of one. Then some additional TLR, Yashica Mat & Mamiya 330 220, all junk then Nikon DSLR D200. Moved on in Nikon because I liked digital.. My son bought a M8 Leica and also me because I could not be outdone. Still have the M8 but added a M10R after my M10 failed. It was a long road with too many side trips, but I am home. Buy the M10R sometime because lenses that I never liked on my M6 or other M camera work beautifully on the R. They are a 50 2.0 V3, 90 2.0 pre asph bought new in. 85.and some others. I can not explain why they are so much better than on the older M10. I have a whole visoflex kit with all the lenses and it works great on M10R when I need "reflex" system. For the Nikons, I have mostly primes with no image stability. Do not get fuzzy pics and they are the current primes. Auto focus is just too complicated and I do not feel like carrying an instruction book. I turn on a simple mode for party pics etc.
Amazing review of the M10 and great photos, but holy shit is that friend of yours that you mentioned none other than Randy Blythe from L.o.G? Big inspiration and influence for me growing up as a metal kid. Finding out later he is a super talented photographer only made the pedestal I have him on higher
You just pushed me over the fence. I came from a film background but I am currently using a Sony A7Riii and it's boring, uninspiring, and does the most. I've had the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 but I have been eyeing an M262 but you just sold me on the M10. Thank You, sir. You are appreciated.
The CL is like a mini M, to me, with a few more features than necessary. The SL2 is that x100! For me, though, I think it's more expensive and does more than I'll ever need out of that camera. The M is a camera that is small enough for me to want to bring everywhere and robust enough for me to use it for professional work. I can't say I'd want to lug an SL2 with me anywhere but to a studio.
Quintavius Oliver thank you! In the camera store had some trouble trying to line up the parallax but can’t be sure as my memory card didn’t record the images
Some mid to pro mirrorless cameras are so expensive brand new that a used Leica doesn’t actually seem that crazy anymore... if it’s what you want of course.
@@quintaviusoliver8149 incidentally I think I answered my own question! The answer will be delivered on my doorstep tomorrow. :-) (Using a Sony for now w/Leica lenses)
You are more than a capable photographer, and that leads me to believe you know your stuff when it comes to the tech side of photography. Still (and it isn’t just you) I hear you state, when speaking of a cameras resolution that “I don’t need to make prints that large”. Large prints don’t require much as the larger you print the further away you’ll view the image and that means the resolution does not need to be good at all. A billboard shot with a 100MP camera will look no different than one shot with a 12MP camera, generally speaking. My guess is that you made that statement as a way to keep things simple, and you are more than aware of what I have pointed out, but for those who think they need 60MP to make large prints, well, there it is. If you think I am wrong go to any gallery which features any of the dozens of Magnum photographers who shot (shoot) 35mm film, or if you have a chance to see James Nachtweys work, they take 35mm negs and make 4 foot by 6 foot prints. That’s from film stock like tri X, and chrome like Kodachrome, and that shit ain’t close to 60MP or 40MP or 24MP, but it works because you are 10 feet or more away. High MP cameras are great if they are Medium format because the sensor is larger, but full frame 60MP is, and I am guessing, gear toward those who can’t compose and need to crop the shit out every shot.
Quintavius, Your channel is really good. I’m sure this isn’t the first time you have been told that. I tripped over it as I travelled down a Leica UA-cam rabbit hole. I am a O-P user and I love it. Not sure where I will go from there. Maybe a Q2 or one of the M10 iterations. Keep it up pal. You have the ability to become a go to content creator in the Leica world of UA-camrs. Best of luck with all your future endeavours. Regards, Mark. www.walkacrossitall.com
Wow! thank you, I appreciate that! After looking at your website, I'd say the Q2 or M10-R would do you just fine. Your photos make my 4K monitor worth the upgrade. Great stuff! Cheers!
“It doesn’t do anything I don’t need it to do “. Perfectly said!
Thank you! Cheers!

I like your point of view. You are a voice of reason and remind me of reevaluating my own point of view. Thanks.
Dope kit Q! M7 & M10, you got it all! And that 28mm Cron? Sweet! Best in 2021!
Great video and much valuable information. Thank you!
That was enjoyable, you deserve more than a couple of hundred followers
Thank you! Hopefully my channel continues to grow and inspire more people soon!

Dude idk but that m8 without the ir/cut filter photo has a special look to it. Love the colors even if the blacks are off
I agree 100%! I often shot with mine sans filter but the weird dark fabrics made is difficult to use the camera for client work.

Fantastic video. Can’t wait to keep moving into this system. But mainly I appreciate you doing this work!
I appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed my video and good luck!
Still shooting my Leica M9M and ME. Love them.
Well said. One of the most coherent and succinct statements on why a Leica M 'works'.
I appreciate that. I love the camera because it's simple so why make that explanation any more complicated than that? Cheers!
I shoot many cameras
But since shooting Leica it genuinely makes me feel special
Leica are excellent tools
M8 50cron
Black & white only
Great video! Keep the good work. I can’t wait for your next videos
Thank you! More to come this week!
I love your work man. Very nice!
Glad you enjoy it! Cheers!
Thanks for the comparison of the M9 to the 10 def gives me a good idea while i' thinking about upgrading.
Great video! Love your work. I’m a beginner photographer hadn’t considered a Leica but after this video I may look into it.

I haven't had the pleasure of shooting with a Leica yet. Someday!!!
Just discovered your channel and really liking your content. Keep it coming, Subscribed 👌
I couldn’t agree more the M system is the correct tool for education but more so the only camera that lets it’s user make art.
Luke Schwandt The M definitely feels more like an artist’s paint brush than a tool like a wrench or screw driver.
Hes colorblind. Super amazing
Bro we need to jump on a video together asap
Just added you on IG bro bro, this work is NEXT LEVEL.
Nice video !! I just followed you on IG. BTW incredible work on Instagram amazing !!!!!
Appreciate it!! Thanks so much!
That's the clearest explanation I've heard!

Kris Ceuppens indeed. It’s easy to see more clearly once the camera gets out of the way and just does it’s job. 🙌🏾

Thinking of selling some camera bodies just to fund the M10, won’t sell my M6 tho
Great video thank you !!!
Glad you liked it!
Cool review!
Very nice video. 100% agree, even though i don't own any Leica camera ;)
Excelente brooii
Ive had Leica, Hasselblad, and Sinar. Camera’s made for photographers!
My dude whad up!!!!!
Dude your shots are amazing
Just trying to get like you with the UA-cam content bro 💪🏾 much appreciated
Quintavius Oliver man great information dude
8:26 that's Randy Blythe from Lamb of God?!
Btw, grabbed an m10 last month. It really is a dream.....now lenses.
Forgot to say...great images too.
Glad you enjoyed it

Better your shutter than your sensor!
I don't own one but I sure wish I did after listening to you.
Agree completely.

Q, how has sensor dust been for you? Any issues on the M10?
how much was your safe ?
Althought I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Leicas, I can never close-focus with them. How do you get past that?
JBijouPhoto funny you should mention that! I’ve got a video dropping on Thursday about that very subject!
