    Always one of my favourite groups in Middle Earth. However, the very deployment of the Ithilien Rangers to Osgiliath, in itself, demonstrates the desperation of Gondor in the late Third Age. They were less adept fighting among the chaotic ruins where their careful battle plans and ambushes would still work on a small scale, yes; but the Orcs were overwhelmingly numerous and at their best fighting in wastelands and ruinous environs. If the Gondorian armies had been as they were in the glory days of Gondor and Arnor, Mordor wouldn't have dared even march on the East Bank of Osgiliath, let alone the West Bank, for fear of being annihilated between the jaws of Osgiliath and Minas Ithil when the latter was a noble place.
    Osgiliath as we see her in the Late Third Age, is the crying shame of Gondor - the daily reminder (besides the constant dark presence of the clouds and lightning over the Mountains of Shadow) of Gondor's failing strength. A city of light, and beauty, and music, ruined; by war, plague, pestilence and attrition. Where Sauron could not openly attack, he sent plague; where conventional assaults failed, he sent new creatures (literally inventing the Uruk-Hai centuries before Saruman perfected them, to invade Osgiliath and ransack it, which they did) Much of the damage still visible in Osgiliath in the time of the War of the Ring, was wrought by Mordor, kinstrife in Gondorian civil wars, and the Great Plague which depopulated Osgiliath still further.
    For the Ithilien Rangers to patrol the broken halls, shattered streets and fallen towers of the former pride and joy of Gondor, a city so beautiful even the Elves took note and respected it, spoke loudly to the decline of Gondor. However, to their great credit, a small number of around five hundred Ithilien Rangers, helped hold the West Bank in Mordor's final assault, for days (not just losing by the morning as in the PJ film trilogy) It was thanks to the defiance of Captain Faramir and his men, that Gondor had bought a few more days - days, that would have been lost otherwise, and may have doomed the Rohirrim and the White City in turn. Their great sacrifice, followed by the even greater sacrifices of the Rohirrim, saved the White City.

      Well spoken! Rangers and Rohirrim were my favourites too.

    • @ThePalaeontologist
      @ThePalaeontologist 4 роки тому +5

      @@senoadjiaditya1535 Thank you. However, I'd say my favourite would change depending on what exactly we're talking about contextually.
      e.g. Rohirrim tend to be my favourite human faction in the entire legendarium, though the most powerful by far were the Numenoreans of the late Second Age (and perhaps a reasonable close/not so distant 2nd being the High Gondorians of the 12th century Third Age, under the reign of Hyarmendacil I, the Last of the Ship-Kings of Gondor; under his reign, Gondor reached it's absolute apex in terms of might and territorial extent, subduing Harad and creating an imperial peace lasting 134 years, the rest of Hyarmendacil I's reign)
      Gondor and Arnor, though, were always the pale reflections of the greater glory that once was old Numenor. Beyond doubt, they grew great in their own right, however, Numenor was at it's height, nearly unstoppable (until they started trying to point a sword at God's head under Sauron's manipulation) King Ar-Pharazon the Golden (the 25th and Last High King of Numenor) was monstrously powerful by the standards of the Edain, and before long, he exerted his power over even Sauron, crushing him in warfare in a matter of months. His armies, so feared, that the legions of Mordor would break rank on their approach.
      This was even before the War of the Last Alliance (which goes to show the sheer might of old Numenor) As soon as Sauron allowed himself to be taken prisoner to Numenor, as soon as his searing evil eyes caught sight of the shimmering white bastions and impossibly grand palaces of Numenor, as soon as he saw how hopeless military action against Numenor was even with all the legions of Orcs he could hope to muster; Numenor's fate was sealed. One way or another, he'd get his own way. All it took was Sauron acting like an overgrown Grima Wormtongue in the ear of egotistical Ar-Pharazon.
      Gondor reached it's absolute peak of power under Hyarmendacil I as I said (his very name, meaning ''South-Victor'', honouring his triumph over the Haradrim, being renamed from Ciryaher to signify his new power) He lived TA 899 - TA 1149, being 250 years old at passing, reigning for over half of that long life. Never again was Gondor so extensive, it's reach so immense, it's armies so feared, even it's navy so strong. Almost all downhill from there, in a slow death spiral lasting nearly two thousand years until the War of the Ring.
      I love Gondor and Arnor, but for some reason I prefer the Rohirrim. In Tolkien, there are kind of ''hierarchies'' in the most mighty of factions and cultures, and an element of cultural relativism does exist by default. The Rohirrim are among the so-called, ''Middle Men'' of Middle Earth (as though to say, they are not as mighty as the Gondorians, but not as ''lowly'' as some other men in Middle Earth) In a way, Tolkien made the Rohirrim as romanticised and idealised Anglo-Saxons/old English. There are Viking tie ins too but indeed the vast majority of inspiration behind the Rohirrim would be the Anglo-Saxons of pre-1066 England.
      Gondor is more like the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantines) which would make the Numenoreans more like the ancient Romans of the Bronze Age. Arnor would be the Western Roman Empire (but in terms of Middle Earth geography, it's not East-West but North to South, turned on it's side) Arnor covered the North, Gondor the South. Both being Numenorean Kingdoms in Exile. Both descended from a greater heritage now long since lost.
      Arnor collapsed in TA 1974, over a thousand years before the War of the Ring. Fornost Erain, the last bastion of the last of the three subdivisional realms of Arnor, called Arthedain 9the greatest of the three; Artherdain, Cardolan and Rhudaur, split between a King's quarrelling sons long ago), fell to the Witch King of Angmar in the greatest battle the North lands of Eriador and Arnor had seen since the Second Age (the Second Age's Battle of the Gwathlo, in this region, where Sauron's massive hordes were oblitered hammer and anvil by the Elves and Numenoreans, working together - this being before Gondor even existed - was an even bigger battle) The Gondorians tried to reach Arnor in time to save her, but too late. The Haradrim and Orcs had been distracting Gondor in the South for too long, and the Gondorian Northern Army arrived in TA 1975 led by Prince Earnur (the closest thing the Tolkien Legendarium has to prime Robert Baratheon)
      Avenging the Witch-King's butchery of the people of Fornost Erain, the last hope of Arnor as it once was, the Elves of Lindon, Imladris and Lorien, united under a common cause to destroy Angmar forever, marching side by side with the Gondorians, to wipe out the evil forces. Outside the ruined city, they did, chasing the Witch-King off. He'd later reappear in Mordor, organising new assaults against Cirith Ungol and Minas Ithil (both of which, sadly fell 25 to 27 years after Angmar was destroyed)
      The Lost Kingdom of Arnor is basically Rome, Western Roman Empire, by this analogy. Gondor continued alone for over a thousand more years (just like Byzantium/Constantinople aka Minas Anor/Minas Tirith) Sauron's final assault on Minas Tirith, is reminscent of real world history pertaining to the Middle Ages. Many factions had a go at attacking Constantinople; just like what happened to Minas Tirith. Osgiliath would be Rome in the analogy, if not for needing to place an Arnorian city in focus if they are supposed to be the Western (aka Northern) Romans, metaphorically. Osgiliath was really Gondor's first capital, and remained so for centuries until war and plague ruined the city. However, Annuminas was the Arnorian capital founded by Elendil, prior to the new capital being shifted to Fornost Erain centuries later. Sort of like the ceremonial capital being Rome historically, but the newer one being Ravenna at times, in Roman history. That said, Annuminas was utterly derelict and abandoned unlike Rome, so the analogy can only cover so much, so far (it doesn't match everything perfectly, which is fair - he was only using this as inspiration, not a blueprint to copy it all)
      My favourite factions tend to be Rohirrim, Gondorians, Noldor Elves, Galadrim and Sindar Elves. I love the design of the Elven warriors of the Second and Third Ages in the PJ Trilogy, but regardless of their authenticity to how Tolkien himself would have viewed them, I think they are suitable and fitting concepts (even if, as is often pointed out, the Galadrim Archers did not in fact go to Helm's Deep) I prefer that change though; we needed to see the Elves in action as a fighting force again. It's an improvement on Tolkien imo.

      @@senoadjiaditya1535 P.S - another way to compare them would be, using a Game of Thrones analogy by comparison, aka :
      Targaryens = Byzantines/Eastern Romans = Gondorians
      Valyrians = Ancient Romans (Valyrians being the people from which the Targaryens come from) = Numenoreans
      Broadly speaking, by comparison (the Andals in GOT = Anglo-Saxons/later Medieval Knights = Rohirrim broadly speaking)
      Dothraki are a mash up of Native American Plains Tribes like the Sioux and Cheyenne, crossed with a heavy dose of the Mongols of the time of Ghengis Khan, crossed with the Persian Parthians.
      Seven Kingdoms of Westeros = analogy to the Heptarchy of Anglo-Saxon England pre-1066. Obviously with a twist.
      First Men = Celts/Brythonic peoples prior to the Anglo-Saxons. However, another idea for the Targaryens is how they are somewhat vaguely similar to the Normans in that there is a Targaryen Conquest (you know, like the Norman Conquest 1066) and this displaced most of the Anglo-Saxon nobility. Hard to think of a Norman equivalent in Tolkien, but it's probably partly to do with the Rohirrim (as much as they are mostly inspired by the Anglo-Saxons) I'm sure Tolkien mused that if the Anglo-Saxons at the Battle of Hastings had proper cavalry forces and expertise, they'd have won.
      As it was, they didn't, and lost (not just because of that, but Norman Knights and their war horses in the 11th century, were no joke, by 11th century standards) Closest thing they had to a tank on the battlefield at the time. I guess Tolkien idealised the Rohirrim to do everything both the Anglo-Saxons and Normans could do militarily, in a mash up, mostly favouring the Anglo-Saxons (he was after all, an Oxford Don teaching about Anglo-Saxon history and language, a complete expert on the whole thing, who could even write and speak fluent old Anglo-Saxon)

      @@senoadjiaditya1535 You're welcome and yes he did. The Shire itself is supposed to be the quintessence of rural, rustic, agrarian old England. Right down to the quirks and inward looking innocence of the Hobbits, with all their little dramas and proclivities. More than anything, the Shire is an idealised 18th or early 19th centry "Idyll of England", sanitised and shielded from the broader goings on in the wider lands of Middle Earth.
      Beyond doubt, the technological level is Middle Ages, though curiously, they are in many ways, more reminiscent of English country folk from a much later time period (but one, before the time of seriously heavy industry) It is by no accident that industrialised Isengard, with it's foundaries, pits, quarries and deforestation, was held in stark contrast to the Shire. As a child, Tolkien played around a local Mill and heard the noise and industrial activity in Birmingham, and as he grew up, he grew to lament the urban sprawl in Oxford and other English towns and cities. He profoundly loved and respected nature, and was particularly fond of trees especially.
      The idealised Shire of the Hobbits, is an image of rural English villagers and townsfolk, conveyed to Middle Earth, surrounded by dangers beyond most of their comprehension, protected by forces (Rangers of the North, Elves of Imladris, literal Angels aka Gandalf and Radagast; l;ater literally the entire re-United Kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor reborn, plus Rohan on top of that support) most of them scarcely even knew about. Suspicious and sometimes very ignorant of the outside world, but still capable (as the Fellowship Hobbits and Bilbo Baggins show) of being just as influential on the events affected not only entire landmasses, but all of it's races.
      Saruman would be the scheming industrialist and Orthanc his ivory tower, the industry at Isengard, his ''dark satanic mills'' to quote William Blake's poetic words from the ironically patriotic English song, "Jerusalem". Worse than that, Saruman was one of the great natural guardians and paragons of virtue, that turned bad; the turncoat of many colours who turned his fear of Sauron, to the twisted destruction of the very natural beauty he was there in no small part to help protect (I know the Heren Istarion were there to carefully guide the free peoples without assuming overlordship themselves, though as part of that, protecting the natural world was obviously important too) For many years, Saruman had been a friend and ally to the Elves, Rohirrim, Ents and Gondor.
      Even the Shire - though Gandalf did more for the Shire (across the centuries) than Saruman ever did (see Fell Winter, see Greenfields, see War of the Ring etc)
      The English countryside _just before_ heavy industry got really widespread, inspired the Shire. The Hobbits closest thing to industry, is Michel Delving, a small quarry in the woods. That is about it (and even that is mainly for stonework for homes, and so on) But yeah, Saruman would have turned Hobbiton into another industrial wasteland like Isengard briefly became. The Scouring of the Shire. It was the fear of Tolkien's, that England's ''Green and pleasant land'', would be overrun with industry. A fear, not without justification or merit. Yet one, perhaps in retrospect, slightly idealistic. Whatever the case, the Hobbits are this strange but somehow absolutely believable mix of 18th century rural England - but with the 12th century serfdom and indentured servitude of other centuries prior to the 18th, not seen. A sanitised Medieval tech people, wearing 18th century clothes, set like a flowery garden in the heart of Middle Earth. Love it (with a lovable Wizard and a jaded Elf Lord basically making sure they aren't wiped off the map)

    There's a lot of mistakes.
    The golden age (and the following weakening) of Gondor was during the Third Age, not the Second, neither during the transition from the Second to the Third. By the end of the Second Age, Gondor was a few decades old, if I'm not mistaken. It took centuries of not millennia, well into the Third Age, for the kingdom to diminish and weaken.
    And by the time Mordor rose again, Osgiliath was already, if not abandoned, severely depopulated, in ruins and wasn't a destination for the remaining inhabitants of Ithilien that were fleeing the region.
    Minas Ithil wasn't Gondor's greatest fortress. Minas Anor/Tirith was at least as great, Osgiliath was it's capital and a major fortress before it's ruin, and Orthanc as well. At best, it was tied with Minas Anor/Tirith.
    Gondor's armies didn't grow "distant", they grew weaker. Being distant implies a lack of interest, when it was a lack of capacity to maintain a strong presence, retreating across the river (a natural defensive position) and being unable to maintain a population on a hostile area/warzone.
    I don't recall anything indicating that the remaining Rangers of Ithilien joined the White Company, neither their participation on the battle for Minas Tirith and the Pelennor Fields. There's even some debate on whether they had been wiped out or not during the battle for Osgiliath and the Rammas Echor. Precisely because of their skills, prowess and elite status, it's very telling that the books don't mention them again. If they weren't all killed, I would say it was a number big enough for the force to be irrelevant for the rest of the books, probably being rebuilt later on.
    And by the very end, regarding the game, the Fourth Age isn't "after the time of Men has come crashing down". The Fourth Age begins right after the destruction of Sauron (after Aragorn's crowning, I think). Which means we actually read (and watch, in the movies) the beginning of the Fourth Age. And there are also supposed to be many ages before "the time of Men comes crashing down", if I'm not mistaken.

    • @Illier1

      That last comment about the Kingdom of Men crashing was a joke referencing the evil compaign for Battle of Middle Earth

    • @ThePalaeontologist
      @ThePalaeontologist 4 роки тому +1

      I think you're largely correct, though there are a few contextual differences which could make it debatable in some points. You are not mistaken about the Golden Age of Gondor being in the Third Age rather than the Second Age. Clearly, Gondor was still very new although Numenorean coastal outposts had been around since before the Akallabeth (Downfall of Numenor) Indeed, King Ar-Pharazon the Golden (25th and Last High King of Numenor) had casually crushed Mordor's armies and ''captured'' Sauron prior to the corruption of Numenor (by Sauron) For the Numenoreans to hammer the forces of Mordor into the ground in a matter of months in a single punitive expedition (of which very little indeed is known, save for the fact that Mordor lost, badly, and that the Numenorean Thangails swept all before them like a scythe through wheat), speaks of the sheer might of Numenor in it's prime.
      Arguably, Numenor at *it's* height was still yet greater than Gondor *ever was* but I suppose that is neither here nor there really (in Tolkien, there _tends_ to be a ''tending towards diminishing'' sort of like entropy, but more from the classical Greco-Roman Mythology perspective; the age of Titans giving way to the age of Gods, then the age of Monsters and Giants, and then that of Mankind (an ever diminishing worldview, which was a fairly common viewpoint in antiquity, standing on the shoulders of giants and looking forward with despair) However, for certain sure, the Gondorians were at their own absolute peak of cultural, imperial and strategic power, in the Third Age (I believe sometime in the reigns of the Sea Kings of Gondor, well before the Late Third Age, half way into the Third Age, and long before the time of the Fall of Minas Ithil in TA 2002)
      However, in terms of sheer military might, it is hard to be sure whether Elendil's Gondorian and Arnorian hosts were lesser in capability than the later Mid Third Age Gondorians at their height of power. It's a good question. Obviously in terms of development and maturation, the Gondorian Kingdom was way beyond that of the foundational stages of Gondor just after Elendil and his Faithful, arrived from escaping the Akallabeth disaster. Obviously Elendil, Anarion and Isildur had a bone to pick with pesky old Sauron (who just literally caused the destruction of their beloved star shaped island homeland of wonders) Elendil was essentially instantly on a holy crusade against Sauron to finish him once and for all.
      Anarion established Minas Anor, Isildur established Minas Ithil, Elendil ruled for a short time from Osgiliath, and he also went North and oversaw Annuminas in Arnor (an eventually long abandoned capital of Arnor, forsaken for the newer regional capital of Fornost Erain, later on - the same one the Witch-King destroyed in TA 1974 after his 600 years and more of wearing Arnor down)
      Anarion looked after Gondor while Elendil marshalled his forces with Isildur and the Elves of Lindon, Eriador (including Eregion) and Imladris, in Imladris. Elendil brought his forces over the Misty Mountains with the Elves of the West, meeting with the Elves of the Kingdom of Lorinand (Lorien, as it once was) and then in turn being met by the army of Khazad-Dum (of which little was ever mentioned, other than that they helped breach the gates of Mordor by the Morannon, or so I've read) On top of this massive force, the Royal Army of Eryn Lasgalen (Greenwood the Great/later Mirkwood) arrived under King Oropher and his son Prince Thranduil, marching fiercely under their own banners refusing to be commanded by the Noldor Elves under the overall command of High King Gil-galad and Lord Elrond. Once ready, the combined forces of Crown Prince Anarion marched from Osgiliath leading the forces he'd gathered Gondor while at the same time defending it from Sauron's forces, and then he joined the massive allied host marching to the Dagorlad Plains.
      Without doubt, that combined force was the greatest seen in Middle Earth in the armies of light, in the Second Age (greater even than the hosts of the Elves and Numenoreans in the War of the Elves and Sauron, earlier in the Second Age - though I think the host of Ar-Pharazon the Golden might have given the Last Alliance armies a run for their money in terms of sheer might; hard to tell - though we do know the Numenoreans single-handedly stomped Mordor by themselves prior to the War of the Last Alliance, so I'd be very curious to see a comparison in a vacuum of logic, where the full Army of Ar-Pharazon the Golden was sandboxed in a fight against the combined forces of the Last Alliance - and yes I know, there'd be people alive in the Last Alliance who fought in Ar-Pharazon's armies prior to the Downfall of Numenor so I know it's an impossible scenario, can't be in two armies at once I know, but the idea is still fascinating)
      Even if the Last Alliance troops in that scenario beat the forces of Ar-Pharazon, it'd be an absolute bloodbath (they barely beat Mordor together, and almost all their commanders died on the battlefield (King Oropher, Crown Prince Anarion, King Amdir of Lorinand, High King Gil-galad, High King Elendil etc) It was a bloodbath. So it'd be a real tough one to call between the armies of Ar-Pharazon pre-Akallabeth VS the armies of the Last Alliance post-Akallabeth. I think it'd honestly come down to the Elves being the only ones more technologically advanced and culturally superior to the Numenoreans. Even then, the Ar-Pharazon's forces would make a mockery of the Greenwood Elves, and probably punch a big hole in the numbers of the Noldor Elves too, no matter what happened (after all, the Numenoreans owed so much of their knowledge to the Elves whom helped them since the end of the First Age and the start of the Second Age) Numenor would have been little better than the ''Middle Men'' of the mainland, had they not been given teaching by the Noldor (literally taught them how to make better swords etc)
      In terms of sheer military potential, I'm not sure which is definitively stronger (Gondor's armies at their peak, about a thousand years before the Fall of Minas Ithil) or the new Gondorian armies of the Princes Anarion and Isildur under the overall command of Elendil. Culturally and developmentally, of course Gondor is stronger by the height of it's civilisation, than it was at it's founding. However, ironically, I am not going to be too sure about how well the later Gondorians would do against the first generation of Gondorians (hands down absolutely no Gondorian King would ever again be as mighty as High King Elendil) Perhaps we could point to armour and weapons technology evolving to a crescendo by the time of the peak of Gondorian civilisation - but again, in Tolkien, older usually means more powerful (including in terms of the swords etc) But that isn't always the case and indeed there is linear advancement, regardless of the theme of constant decline) It's possible that the castaways and survivors of Numenor, in their new realms of the Numenoren Kingdoms in Exile (Gondor and Arnor), were ironically more powerful, what with Numenorean weapons and armour.
      It is known that in the Battle of Dagorlad, Gondor and Arnor's vanguards were bigger than the entire army that King Aragorn II Elessar took to the Morannon/Black Gates. How big the Gondorian armies were in the times of their peak of strength as a civilisation, is hard to figure out exactly. Both (around a thousand years apart) would be massive compared to the later forces. Likely around 100,000 men each. We know that Gondor had Northern and Southern field armies though I cannot recall if these were formally established prior to the time of the Steward Cirion of Gondor and the Battle of the Field of Celebrant (about 500 years before the War of the Ring) Assuming that the later Gondorian army is bigger and can replace it's losses easier due to a bigger population at baseline to draw from, then okay, let's give this one to the later Gondorians (after the War of the Last Alliance) Note: a lot of the manpower of the first Gondorian army, was drawn from the Numenorean colonies already established prior to the Akallabeth and the arrival of Elendil and his loyalists of the Faithful. Obviously the vast, vast majority of Numenoreans perished in the Akallabeth catastrophe. But Elendil could draw on more troops from the outposts of the Numenorean maritime colonies in what was to become Southern Gondor (Gondoritself meaning Land of Stone)
      Other than that, I'd agree with everything you said. Though, it is fair to point out that both Minas Anor and Minas Ithil were probably nowhere near as strong in the first years of either Gondor or Arnor, as they would grow to be by the mid Third Age onward. Minas Anor took centuries to finish. No way did it look the way it did in the War of the Ring, during the War of the Last Alliance. It was probably just a perimeter wall protecting a few dwellings and then a large section of the Mountain that would later be shaped into it's classic design, with seven levels) I'd argue that Minas Anor/Minas Tirith was greater than Minas Ithil. But they were deliberately working in tandem from the beginning. That was kind of the point; the Tower of the Sun and the Tower of the Moon; guarding either side of the Anduin as strategic bulwarks shielding Osgiliath and the Anduin crossings there. Minas Ithil was arguably harder to besiege directly in a tactical sense, but was smaller and less populated. It took the Witch King 2 years to capture it (2000-2002 TA) Cair Andros was smaller than either of course, which is fair.
      P.S - yeah I think most of what was left of the Ithilien Rangers died in Faramir's death ride against Osgiliath and their escape from Osgiliath beforehand. Very few would have survived all that and then the Siege of Minas Tirith and the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. There were only roughly 500 at Osgiliath to begin with when 75,000 Orcs and Easterlings attacked them.

    • @ThePalaeontologist
      @ThePalaeontologist 4 роки тому +1

      P.S - I believe the absolute peak of Gondor, was specifically in the reign of *King Hyarmendacil I, the Last of the Ship Kings* (I said Sea Kings, meant Ship Kings - Sea King helicopters on the brain while I was typing lol that is why) of Gondor. Born as Ciryaher, later named Hyarmendacil, this King was the epitome of Gondorian power in it's Golden Summer years. In his long reign, he reorganised Gondor's armies, declared war on and conquered the Haradrim in TA 1050, and for this reason he was then renamed as Hyarmendacil (which literally means, ''South Victor''), from his original name of Ciryaher.
      Hyarmendacil I's reign lasted 134 years (TA 1015 - TA 1149), having been born in TA 899 and therefore having lived to a grand old age of *250* (and thus having been a Crown Prince of Gondor for 116 years even before he ascended to the Throne of Gondor in the House of Anarion - that Numenorean heritage, man lol even Prince Charles be like BRUH)
      Under King Hyarmendacil I's powerful reign, Gondor reached it's maximum territorial extent, at it's apparent greatest power (though I do not know for sure how big his forces were in this time, presumably in the tens of thousands up to over a hundred thousand, considering the sheer extent of his dominions, from Isengard to Harad, from the passes of Mordor to the Falls of Rauros) He clearly had a strong navy too.
      None dared challenge his power and authority, and he maintained absolute imperial peace for the rest of his life after subduing Harad. Harad even formally acknowledged the overlordship of Gondor, which says a lot about his power considering the Haradrim constantly hated Gondor. The passes of Mordor were well-guarded, there was peace throughout Gondor, and he presumably held strong alliances with the Elves and maybe Khazad-Dum (speculation) It would make sense though if this were the case, considering a) how peaceful his reign was b) how successful he was (why wouldn't the Elves and Dwarves enjoy the peace too? - that is, with trade)

    Let’s be honest the Rangers are pretty under powered and less you use the unearthed arcana version.

    I just can not get behind the new narrator, he is doing a good job but he sounds bland and generic like I can now get the same experience from any other lore centered youtube channel. The last narrator had a certain charisma to where it felt like I was watching a DVD extra from the respective property.
