I'M HAVIN' A THOUGHT, POTATO. As a self-proclaimed casual Civ-ite, I never play on Deity. I can, but I don't find it particularly enjoyable when the AI gets quite that much of a handicap. It could be fun, though... if I played alongside someone else in a cooperative game, especially if that person, perhaps, recently happened to start making a name for himself showing people how to play on that level. And then we recorded it. And maybe put it on UA-cam.
I actually share some or all of your feelings but I found pushing through it and taking time to better my play actually became its own reward over time. I accept the offer to negotiate terms, whats the best place to contact each other?
Awesome. Twitter DMs cool? I probably should have mentioned there's no rush. My schedule is crammed full for the next little while, so seriously no pressure.
Me too! I'm happy to have found civ6trader... about the same time as you I guess as I saw you commenting on his newer stuff and have noticed things you've picked up having watched both of you for a month or two now! 👍
Seeing you play made me defeat emperor difficulty first try with before being a noob. Your style of talking through the playthroughs is damn nice. Keep going and I think rts games would be in your ballpark as well
just letting you know you became my favorite civ channel, you have a great kniowledge of the game but dont pretend to know everything so other can learn along with you. looking forward to see other strategy games from you too... eu4 or xcom maybe ?
PotatoMcWhiskey - One thing I always do before sending a delegation is check the first impressions. If their first impressions is more than -5 or more, then I don't send the delegation. If it is more than the +3 for sending the delegation, it isn't worth sending the delegation.
I am finding that I don't understand amenities too well. I thought you got them from luxury resources (and other policies/buildings). But it seems that luxury resources are perhaps more valuable to trade off early on? I would love more information about amenities, when to keep luxury resources and when to trade them... Do amenities really matter that much? What do they impact? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.
Amenities matter more later on in the game. They don't really affect you until you have at least 5 pop in your city. Getting 200 gold early just far outweighs what they provide early on in the game
What's the map and set up for this game? Normally when I play deity at turn 25 I have a civs second city landed right up my backside with 16 troops at my border. I wish for starts like these!
I love how much of an impact the governor's have on gameplay in RaF. Making wonder's a realistic goal in deity gameplay just adds so much more flavour to the game. You must get a lot of petra spam in your livestreams I'd imagine!! 😂
I like Netherlands in theory. But I couldn't find any where for a polder. I barely saw any river bonuses and the loyalty trading bonus wasn't needed as my cities were fairly secure. All that said I had fun.
Why would you place wonders on river tiles rather than unusable desert tiles? Seems like a TS on the river with the two wonders on desert tiles would work better. What am I missing? Thanks!
Christopher Kelly Petra gives sick desert tile bonuses. Additionally you will want the adjacency bonuses, while having fresh water in your city. So you place city near river, then wonders near city for district bonuses
That's pronounced: "Groatuh Reeveeren". It means Great Rivers. The ship is pronounced "Zaifen Provincien" (Seven provinces) but you got that pretty good allready :P
Cough? You need Nin Jiom a Chinese concoction sold in many places because it is herbs in honey. Also some echinacea, would help. The Nin Jiom is taken in warm water. Good luck!
One thing I saw is that you went for "Urban Planning" first. Usually I like to go "God King" for an early pantheon, then I switch to urban planning. What are your thoughts on this?
Another reason is because you may get another pop, but the preqs for the next pop is still just as high, the only thing it does is give you 1/2 turns with a little extra food or production. The only real time a plus one pop would be "avanatagous" would be in a situation where youde have like +3 production to immediately speed your scout or monument in those first few turns, and even then normally youde switch back to food which would give you that extra one population in that same few turns in the first place
Thanks for the walk through i'm not up to deity level yet but o do love the idea of your map pins for each district. Where can i edit my game for these icons?
MrNukedawhales of course there are no hills in the Netherlands i live there but i was just making a statement about the strict placement of polders in civ 6
R.I.P potato. Your dying. Haha My kid had a cough for 4 weeks. The flu is bad this year. Btw thank you so much for doing civ for dummies i have learned allot recently by watching your vids. Thank you. Get well soon.
a smiling Wilhelmina, who knew that she was capable to smile. she is one of the stricktest and most selfcentered queens ever, it is nice the Netherlands is in the game at all
I just came here for the pronunciation. Gotta love GROOTE RIVEIEREEINN or whatever :)

Usually don't comment, however I wanted you to know that you've got the best Civ channel out there in my opinion. Keep it up!
Dalton Thompson I agree
Looking forward to this series. Congrats on the 3k subs!
Thanks Chewie
Ah 3k subs. Amazing how huge this channel is now

I like how you pronounce dutch sentences. Im from holland so i like this!
yes
@@donzify1964 true im Belgian but still this is much better than how the developers said it
Wilhelmina actually looks like my mom😁. Polders are cool, the way they looks anyways and as a dutchman i have to build them regardless of usefulness.
I like your analysis as you play, very methodical and informed! Great vids Potato!
When playing as the Dutch I always get a costal Capital and culture victory...
fr
im actually mad if i settle by accident not on coast
Heyy, how do you settle on plains hills every time? Is there a trick that we should be looking out for?
Yes it gives you a extra production. Watch potatos where to settle a city video

For my motherland
Materland!
Moederland ;)
Zed Zed voor mijn vaderland
Wat jij wil
milan de Boon lol Wut? Fatherland is the correct form.
I missed you potato :( i hope you get well soon.
Thanks Mister Simmer!
i know its a late reaction , but thanks for playing the netherlands :) its an honor xD
Really enjoying your channel, thanks Potato!
Hope you get well soon potato, great vid! :)
Also wow, you've shot past 3k subs :)
Good stuff keep it up.
Just finished a Shaka game. Very OP, IMO. Got my first 3700 range score!
I would have picked up the lady of the marsh pantheon and settled cities all along that desert flood plain river.

hey, are you using any mods by any chance? looks like it could be CQUI but it looks more simplified, love your vids though! subscribed :)

Came here for fun series and fun algorithm boosting tings
Great to see you back
How do you consistently manage to not get swarmed by the Deity AI immediately?
Nick McGregor I would like to know too, the main reason I don't play Deity is the AI swarms.
It's not like I can't handle it, there's just no way in hell I could get away with Scout > Monument > Builder without my neighbor attacking.
I like Netherlands in theory. But I couldn't find any where for a polder. I barely saw any river bonuses and the loyalty trading bonus wasn't needed as my cities were fairly secure. All that said I had fun.

It was hilarious hearing how he pronouced it though xd
Oh god. I sound like that trying to pronounce foreign languages.
Snappie relatable

Ayyyeee welcome back spud!
Love your videos potato; sorry if that's not your real name. Anyways keep up the good work😁👌
Thanks dude!
this is all i needed

What are the settings for this game? Which map etc? :)
Why exactly is +1 pop from a tribal village not the best? Wouldn't that accelerate the production and growth of your city?
Yeah I was kind of wondering that too, I think it's a pretty nice boost. Probably would have been better after you grew from 1 pop, but still solid.
Because it gives you something that you will eventually get otherwise. While relic you can only get from tribes
Another reason is because you may get another pop, but the preqs for the next pop is still just as high, the only thing it does is give you 1/2 turns with a little extra food or production. We all love the potato
Get well soon
also they will now when u conquer a city they wont flip until you peaced out ua-cam.com/video/ZSFhqOPiU-E/v-deo.html
Mooi hoe hij "grote rivieren" uitspreekt, hahaha.
A lot of players would have tried for a dark age, since that would make it possible (and likely) to get a heroic age next).
Thanks for the walk through i'm not up to deity level yet but o do love the idea of your map pins for each district. Where can i edit my game for these icons?
Hey which mods?
I believe they are using the CQUI mod.
Sterren Gab The CQUI mod hasn't been updated for Rise and Fall yet.
Porridge Cat Oof yup, just figured that out. Thanks for correcting.
But has anyone figured what mods he's using. Cause they look damn useful.
0:14 Listening this in 2021...
How do I put something in production queue?
You need a mod to do it!
Did you see that they are changing the polder requirements?
Radio Frequency Indeed the polders can now be placed next to hills because we Dutch people build polders everywhere
there are no hills in the netherlands, so you never build a polder next to a hill before.
MrNukedawhales of course there are no hills in the Netherlands i live there but i was just making a statement about the strict placement of polders in civ 6
I did this is the most poorly timed playthrough ever tbh!
Why didn't they put willem van oranje as the dutch leader
Had no idea Dara O'Brien Plays civ
Where are you from Potato? Co. Wexford gal here, can't quite place your accent so
I’m Dutch and just came for the pronunciation
I know this is about 3 years a bit too late ... but did you just say you wait 2 to 3 weeks before you see a doctor?! LoL ...
watching this after covid happened, hearing him cough be like 👁👄👁
Exactly what I am thinking right now lol
Please another Netherlands game on gathering storm with the September patch!!!!
how do u add the icons (city center, commercial ect)?
Its a mod
There offically adding it though in the new update for pc
If you do the second city it would be amazing.
Get well very very soon^^

they're kinda broken 1,200 science per turn.
2 population in main city, 2 wheats & 1 dairy unused... not good. It wasn't worth putting early citizens on the luxury tiles
why you always afraid to attack barbarians? after 3 hits your warrior still be alive and have a promotion
I was just here to hear you butcher the names of the bonuses
GEKOLONISEERD
holy he is talking fast :D
Im actually dutch lol
