This is actually one of the best explanations of Mikrotiks implementation of VLANs I've seen so far. I‘ve looked both Episodes of this Session and your MTCNA Course. I am really impressed. I just recently started to work with Mikrotik and configuring/implmenting VLANs was always confusing for me, especially because everyone explains it differently. Thank you and keep up the good work!!!
I really enjoyed this video. I used to be really good back in the late 90's with this at the ISP's. Thanks for the easy instructions. Very easy to follow.
Excellent video, very educational, can't wait for part 3. Someone could say it's not necessary for home user but with more and more devices VLANs are great, for eg. CCTV on one VLAN, office on second, wireless for guests on third and so on.
You have to go more in depth on the QinQ part. you didnt show its real purpose or show why and how you should use 0x8100 vs 0x88A8! looking forward to next episode.
How we should create vlan in new way in router CCR on stick ? How create dhcp-servers on new bridge way. What with Hybrid port for WiFi AccessPoints ? What when I use 4 cables to stack of switches by LACP... how then use that New Way of VLAN - Please create a new video, of course this is out of MTCNA but this video must be created !!! Please do that video as Part3 :D. I wait for it
5:56 It would be interesting to hear your take on VLANs over a multiple redundant feedsto a wireless tower - most WISP setups rely on a single link - VLANs over an array of redundant uplinks would be quite the cool stunt. It's easy to suggest some STP or some link aggregation, but all is not what it seems.
Network Berg thx for the great video, I was curious if you could help with a question I had, I currently have a Mikrotik CCR2004-16G-2S+PC Ethernet Router, My WAN (link to modem) is "ether 1". I have 3 physical computers with VMware ESXI on them and then my desktop, which I use to configure the ESXI hosts, I need to have essentially 4 VLANS on all the ESXI hosts at the every least where the ESXI hosts can talk freely on the different subnets (IE 10.10.5.0 and 10.10.8.0) and then a mgmt network (I think it needs to be untagged). Can you please point me in the right direction of how you would set that up, should I bridge the WAN port or use the router function in quick set up for the WAN port.? Thx in advance!
hopefully you can help me out, there was an episode you did on VLANs where you had to configure the network adapter in Ubuntu to properly access a VLAN network, but I can't seem to find it anymore! can you point me in the right direction to this video you did?
I like these videos - but if I may make a request/suggestion - you lost me a lot in this. Jumping between windows so fast - hard to understand what device you are configuring what on. You didn't explain tagged vs untagged and how that relates to what is trying to be accomplished. That is an area of VLANs I'm still trying to understand and since this was VLAN theory I hoped it would be explained, but wasn't. What was happening (data flow) in the example with the firewall rule blocking ICMP - was the VLAN traffic coming from the devices lower down in the network, and since the router would have routed the traffic between the 2 network ranges - it would have forwarded the pings - but the firewall rule then blocked that from happening? I think this is the case. I guess it would help when setting up the VLANs and the traffic patterns - to show on the diagram what the data flows are that you are trying to establish and how/why the VLAN configs you make afterwards will accomplish that goal. You did this some, but didn't sometimes. Again thanks for doing these - it is great - just trying to make suggestions that I know for me would help as I came away from this video confused. I think I'll have to go through it - pausing and documenting along the way to track what is happening where.
Your videos helped me a lot but can I solve VLANs, DHCP server and Firewall rule for VLANs isolation directly in CRS326 which is L3 device or do I need to buy a mikrotik router for that ? Now I have a basic router from my ISP that does not support these features. Please help resolve my situation.
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. To be honest I don't think I want to get into making Linux specific videos. I feel too much like a normal user and there are very nice channels around already doing Linux the justice it deserves. I would suggest looking at www.youtube.com/@LearnLinuxTV If you want to learn more about Linux :)
Hello sir, I have question regarding ospf.ospd adminstrative distance bigger than default route in IP route table .default route active rather than ospf route.when I change default route distance than my internet not working .
You didn't show how to make the router pingable from withing the Vlans, maybe i missed something, is it possible ? I do not have a switch between my router and server and want to make my router set up as a gateway, any help appreciated.
Hi Berg, This is Amit, I am working with MNC as Sr. Network Administrator, and we are using Mikrotik router in our infra for connecting ISP. I am facing the issue while connecting two Mikrotik routers with HA and ISP load balancing with two BGP pools on the LAN side. I have seen multiple videos of you BGP related. But I am not able to configure or set up our router in HA with internet load balancing. I need your help to configure our MikroTik Router in HA with internet load balancing in the BGP. Please help me on this, if you want to know our network design then i will provide you for your under standing. Please respond on this I am waiting for your response on this. comment.
Hey Amit, I would highly suggest you reach out to a certified MikroTik consultant to help you with your problems. You can find a consultant in your region by using the MikroTik site www.mikrotik.com/consultants
@@TheNetworkBerg Thanks for the update soon on my question but if it is possible you can upload a video on your channel as per our requirement So that I can understand the issue and resolve it.

Finally !! That's what I need!!! You are amazing !!!!!
Tip: You can just click on „New Windows“ from within Winbox. No need to re-launch via wine 🍷. Thanks for the great work.
Awesome, thanks for the tip ❤️
great video (watching on 1/2 speed helped 😅)
Thank you so much
Great stuff, thank you!
My pleasure!
Cool video! Whats missing is the effect of hw offloading and l3 routing. That firewall rule might not cut it for that!

you can use OSPF over vlans creating a network fabic for this

do you know how to do L2 tunnel vpls on RouterOS 7.x ? if yes any chance to share this knowledge ?
Yes I have done VPLS tunnels on RoSv7, there does seem to be some issues on it though. I currently do not have any videos covering VPLLS on v7.

on created SR-BR you put normal interface vlan and add ip address on that vlan. This way you use new way of vlans with InterRouting on them.
Hey Hope you well . Im struggling to to config mikrotik hac2 . Can you help ?
hi can you create a video for Restricting Internet Access Based on MAC Address in MikroTik. thank you so much in advance
This did the trick: ua-cam.com/video/k4B8mq04tAo/v-deo.html
Are you going to do a MTCSWE course?
I could potentially consider it, however, if I do a MTCSWE course I will need to procure some actual CRS switches to give real examples.
