That’s my old job before I became a Nurse. Gave up the best job in the Navy for more pay and job security post retirement, but my best times in the Navy were doing this! Hooyah!
Do you know anything about NAVSEA in Norfolk Virginia? It’s under the DoD but basically contract to the Navy underline mission. Is it true that underwater welders actually train with them ?
The navy has been killing it with these ads. I’ve been deadset on becoming a soldier and eventually an 18b but all of these specialized medical technician jobs that they’ve been making videos about have piqued my interest
I'm probably late but the ASVAB requirements for HM-ATF are online. There are similar to standard Corpsman with a few other requirements. As far as getting DMT. It is one of the three pipelines for HM-ATF. You'll have to pass a PST screening exam to qualify. This will be a 500 yard swim in 12:30; 50 push-ups in two minutes; 50 sit-ups in two minutes; 10 pullups no time limit; and a 1.5 mile run in 10:30. Though it'll be to your benefit to score higher than those scores. If you fail you'll be converted to a standard HM. I'm not completely sure but I believe you can also try out at Corpsman "A" school as well. I got my HM-ATF contract and leaving for boot camp in 39 days. So all my information is relative and not from experience.
It's not true that the "vast majority of medal of honor recipients are corpsman.." 2:05 Most aren't even in the navy, but even of the Navy MOH winners many (maybe most) aren't enlisted. Of those that were enlisted, most weren't Corpsman. That claim is untrue at every level - at least according to Wikipedia.
@@lib2574 Yes, but that makes it a plurality, not a majority - let alone a "vast majority." For it to be a "vast majority" more than 50% of all MOH winners would have to be navy Corpsmen. In reality, most MOH winners weren't even in the Navy. plurality =/= majority.
DMT is a program under the HM umbrella, its enlisted only and so is the Navy Diver Rating, to dive/ go through Dive School as an officer you'd have to go EOD route or go through as a SEAL since they have their own underwater element of BUD/S separate from Dive School. But EOD is more closely related to Diving than Seal..... ND/EOD/DMT all go through Dive School together with EOD branching off once they complete Dive School, NDs stay in Panama the entire time and of course as a DMT you won't see Panama until you finish HM A-School.

Go Navy and join the fleet.
I'm a DMT. I feel like I've got the best job in the Navy. And any job in the Navy is better than being in the Army.
@@maxmonlux hey I want to be a DMT too what did you get on the asvab that allowed to get this job?
Most people don't realize that the US NAVY offers a much wider variety of jobs that you can use also in the civilian world. I'm navy all the way bro.

You enlist with an ATF HM package. You'll go to boot camp, then corpsman A school then you'll go through the dive pipeline with the NDs
Tyler Cardoza how’d it go ?
Can u be a dmt if you’ve gone to usna
Dude anyone can be a dmt
