testing the ifoon 15 pro max
im just kiding i love the channel
great camera test. Learn lots of things. Good luck
Been waiting for your review to make a decision
The 4K 60 at 5x zoom looks so good! I was really surprised. Everything else is standard Apple
@juliatrotti There was some blockiness - almost pixelation - on the sleeve of her jacket around 4:20-4:30. Is that from UA-cam compression, or is that what the sensor generated? I feel like the iPhone camera crushes out the subtlety in skin tones. It's a really nice camera to have with you when you don't have your camera with you though!
Awesome iPhone 📲 I am loving my iPhone 15 pro ❤
Great video! I agree about the 5x. I prefer having the 3x for an everyday zoom.
IMO 4x is better for most use cases unless you use it mainly for the portraits. Had a really good quality 4x on Pixel 7 pro.
if you prefer the 3x then the 15pro would be a better option than the 15 max?
Great video to see. Others will have you believe that this phone is at mirrorless camera level, but it's not even close
Thank you! As a photographer a good phone camera is a great option when you don’t have your camera on you, but I personally wouldn’t completely replace my camera with one 😅
Were you in "action" mode when doing the video?
Great video. You should definitely try changing the profile from Apple ProRaw to Adobe in Lightroom - the "HDR" effect will disappear and the photo looks more like it's from a pro camera.
Thank you and yeah I had a look at the profiles, normally I use Adobe but I wanted to try doing it differently this time!
@@studioluckysit’s under the picture profiles tab in Lightroom or Camera Raw
Great video 😊 I wish they just improved the 3x tele instead. The 5x is cool but as you say in day to day circumstances I’m not using it much as it’s just too zoomed in.
Waiting for the Pixel 8 Pro camera review now
Please test the new pixel 8 and compare it to this
Loved your Video!!! that phone is truly next level, specially in video mode!
Did you shoot portrait in 5x or
I missed it ?
I am a frequent traveler, i used to take heritage sites photos with a person in photo
What you suggest iphone 14 pro max or 15 pro max ?
It seems they still need to work on their shadow processing. Especially for faces.
Next, It'd be nice if you could do a review on the new Sony Xperia 1 V camera
I would love to test that phone out but they don’t have it available in Australia unfortunately 😢
Make a video on iphone 15 base variant ❤
Wonderful review as always. A bit sad about the lens flare. Half expecting lens hoods now for iPhone.
I would love to see Dan use the ProRes Log for a video.
Frankly that 5x zoom would be great for surfers or a shoot with far away backgrounds. I'm imagining Bronte pool at sunrise.
Thank you! We have some little day trips coming up so we will be playing around with ProRes during that, I will probably upload some Tiktoks about it/Instagram!
can you compare to professional camera?
you are amazing, I watched the google pixel 8 pro video too...
In my opinion
photos: google pixel 8 pro
video: Iphone 15 pro max
achei que ia mostrar o modo retrato na camera de 5x, está incrivel!
I have not used iPhone but for me it does have that over sharpening look and digitized look, but it comes please close to IQ of my XT20 apsc camera.
Does the selfie camera still suck?
For the longest time I have been wondering what the woman behind you with her phone does in every single video of yours 😂
Awesome video as usual! I think the 5x zoom was the wrong move. I get they’re trying to “close on” on the competition like the S23 Ultra. But they should have provided a 3x and a 10x, just like Samsung does.
Don’t replace the 3x, add a fourth lens instead.
❤️❤️
Nothing like Mirrorless 📸
I would never completely replace my camera, but I do like having a good camera phone for the moments I don’t have my camera 😊
@@juliatrotti Same. However, I do find myself hauling my camera around more and more. It just sucks having to compromise on photo quality.
Hi, I am coming from the 11 pro and I must say, I absolutely hate the selfie camera and it surprises me that’s it of all the reviews I’ve watched, no one has spoken on this.
I guess apparently the thing I dislike has been around for a couple generations, but I’d love to get some info/opinions on this. I guess it’s the Deep Fusion/ hdr that I’m disliking. But it makes all my front pictures so cold, overly sharpened and washed out.
I compared a warm light I have in my room, with my 11 pro and 15th and it looks yellow from the 11 pro which is the undertone of it in real life, but with the 15 pro it looks like a bright white blue fluorescent light. Am I the only one that dislikes it so much? Or is no one talking about this just because it’s been like that for a while now?
I switched from 11 pro to 14 pro and I absolutely hate the front camera too… I really hope they fix it but it doesn’t seem like they are addressing it
Yep, that’s the processing I’m talking about in the JPG image which happens on the front and back camera too. I’m not a big fan of it either as it can make skin texture look pretty bad and nothing like it does in real life :/ have you tried shooting in raw? The raw files have less processing than the jpg so that sharpness and clarity that looks bad shouldn’t be there
@@juliatrottiyes, I have tried HEIF max and I love the way the pictures turn out on the back camera, however the front one always takes a little longer to shoot and also has larger files, therefore I prefer to use Lens Buddy when taking selfie… I really hope they either add HEIF Max for the front cam or just fix the issue overall.
I hate the over-processed photos from newer iPhones... I just ordered an iPhone 15 Pro Max and am waiting for it to arrive, but I may consider canceling it because of that. I thought the over-processing is better on the 15 series, but it seems not.
The IPhone camera produces distorted photos. The nose and forehead are enlarged/disproportional. Everything else is fine, except the most important- the facial features are distorted. it’s never a good look and it doesn’t make a good portrait either. Thanks for another great professional video🌹
I think that some of those distorted images were shot using the 24mm lens close up to the subject. I might be wrong but think that any camera lens of 24mm shot at the same distance from the subject should give similar distortion. The images she shot using the 2x lens (48mm)were less distorted and close to a 50mm standard lens.
@@freygallery Every camera has the issue, in this case nothing revolutionary with any new iPhone, no point to have unrealistically high resolution, if a subject’s face is out of proportions. Of course, it’s beneficial for people with wide faces and short noses, but it’s still a distorted image.
Make a video on iphone 15 ❤️
What an informative video! I'm shocked however, that you didn't test the "35mm" focal length that Apple is trying to convince people the phone has!
Do s23 Ultra review
The 24mp mode isn’t a real 24mp but a combination of 12mp and 48mp.
pixel does better?
If smartphones could come with 3X or 5X 1-inch type sensor, I reckon it would be very very close to an APS-C level depth of field (Bokeh).
Shame that these phone companies only focus on the main 1X sensor & the other sensors are mediocre at best.
Wish they'd reduce the oversharpening & processing for a more natural look because not everybody knows how to work with RAW files & it's not practical to use RAW for everyday photos.
Also, I really like Apple's fake bokeh on their portrait mode photos & "Cinematic" mode. If only they reduced the subject oversharpening.
I think they have to over compensate for the small sensor by using artificial sharpening.
It'd be nice to have a capable camera with you on a phone when you don't happen to have your Mirrorless camera with you.
Phones are way too far behind for that though.
I hate the oversharpening on all the phone cameras I've seen. I have an Oppo at the moment and it is the worst. But my brothers have iPhones, and I can't say that those are great either. My camera's soft, natural photos are so much better
@@Pamela-c5o There's a bit of truth to that but also they do this to appeal to most average phone users who think artificial sharpening = good quality.
Most average consumers aren't photographers like us who are into this.
But still, I would love it if we at least had the option to turn off the oversharpening of JPEG photos or something.
@@emilyesnyman They need to make a phone only focused on photography but with other good specs too.
This way we have the best of both worlds. Pro level camera & a very good and capable phone to use for everyday.
I am waiting for your video about the new IPhone every year. And until now you deliver always first class videos. Not this time. This video is ok. But with your skills Julia you could do it so much better.
Do for Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra
She’s so photogenic 😭😭
THE WHITE BACKGROUND WAS ANNOYING.. THATS WHY LIGHTROOM AND PHOTOSHOP HAVE GRAY OR BLACK BACKGROUND TO RELAX THE EYE OR TO FOCUS ON THAT PICTURE TO EDIT.. WE CANNOT SEE MUCH OF THE PHOTO SINCE THE WHITE IS VERY STRONG TO THE SCREEN... AND LASTLY WE DIDNT SEE YOU DO THE PORTRAIT MODE .. HEHE .. just saying im a fan of yours .. been watching your lenses/camera reviews
My opinion is this apple finally is in a good way i use that phone like a segundary the video is great in the phone the portrait i like more in samsung
Time to do a direct comparison with a decent mirrorless. The iPhone would look pretty much worse in every shot with Apple image processing.
Nice review, cool shots, but its a huge pass for me.. no background separation, There's No bokeh in phones.. i'd rather use my 50mm with my sony cam 😅🙃
Yeah I almost completely gave up on phones and I'm haling my DSLR all the time now whenever I go. Whenever I compare the photos I took with flagship phones and my DSLRs, I end up realizing just how big the quality gap is.
i always watch male and female reviews , because I can learn about the technical stuff in a male review and I can learn about some weird stuff that only a woman can see that NO ONE WOULD EVEN BOTHER looking at but they for some reason will notice them .
Not impressed by the photos (It's still too oversharpened and too much editing on the face in jpg mode for my taste) but it's a phone what can you do, the videos though is super impressive imo
Lets go google pixel 8 pro please....
9:27 switch the clips we want to see final video in full screen not the bts , some people watch these videos on smartphones .
Thanks you for the effort but it is kind of boring those iphone review.
The best camera is the one that is with you - regadless what it is.
Eww iPhone
Goog Pixel better
Great review, though. I'll watch them regardless of my OS preference.
Julia is a professional at this and super trustworthy 🙏
body and hands deformation for close up photoshoot....portrait lens with 85 better
Can't wait for the pixel 8 pro review. This 5x on iphone is not good enough.
Im sorry but the outfit, location... ehhh and like you took SIMPLE pictures. A good photographer can capture amazing shots on any camera. I think the capabilities of the Iphone are Immense for it being a phone.
No. Pixel and other phones werent able to do the same with portrait mode. iPhone captures the depth map even without shooting in portrait mode, pixel doesnt, it later adds fake blur that might look like it was shot in portrait. The iPhone does apply the captured depth map making the blur realistic. It”s not the same.
Also, the more you shoot portrait mode the better it gets, so setting it to 1.4f will look good after a few shoots
Good content but the constant talking and monotony of the synthetic background music makes me zone out.
Edit back the dialogue to what us need and ditch the synth background noise.
Silence is golden.
I hate oversharpening, it ruins every kind of photo on phones.
you are perfect julia 💗😍
my front camera on snapchat looks like an iphone 6plus
Love watching ur video ❤hope I get opportunity to click by you
iPhone 15 CAMERA 🙏🙏🙏
Iphone has better low light performance than any camera in the market. You can try 😛😂
iPhone 48 mg pixel is best photographer
I still prefer using the S23 Ultra!
iPhone 15 pro max is such a flawed release. I have been put off and will choose a Canon DSLR camera and a couple of lenses for the same money
OOPS. The 120mm lens should have been a 4th lens. Now with 15 Pro Max, shooting 77-119mm is a crop of the 24mm lens.
Result is likely way soft due to excessive cropping. Tony Northrup demonstrated this on 14 Pro Max comparing 77mm lens to 77mm crop of 24mm lens.
On a full frame camera you would NEVER plan a photo shoot relying on cropping 24mm to get 100mm, for example.
Julia please do this comparison: 90mm and 100mm headshots on both 14PM and 15PM. Thank you.
I have a iPhone XS Max and still think it does better than all the iPhones after that one 😅
Buy any phone under $500 and buy real camera in remaining money 💰
not worth it. 15 pro max is basically a 14 S pro max
I saw someone did some astrophotography on 15 Pro, it was better than Samsung S23. 14 Pro doesn’t do astrophotography well.
That One Girl Is Just To Beatiful,
She Should Be A Model🕊️🦢🤍
so you don't review samsung phone, wow
My Nikon D40x is better .
6000 me fake bhi mile to achaa meroko pata ye fake dusro ko nahi sirf dikha dikha jalane ka 😂
images arnt as good as S23U
also the ebony baby looks rly nice , whats her OF anyone ?
this phone is insane! 🔥iPhone 15 Pro Max probably the best and the most powerful smartphone this year!
Apple always did a very good job. that pushed me and my friends switching from Android to iOS
If you care about taking good photos use a „real“ camera. I am so happy to have spent lots of money on camera gear just to take photos of my small kids.
Apple just sus...... I don't like the images.... pixel is way better
Unedited RAWs look much better than those taken by any Sony A7x!
Nah it won't ever be, like if you take a look at it in person, camera is ao much superior than a smartphone camera no cap in terms of detail especially when u zoom in.
@@Pamela-c5o I wanted to say that skin color is not green, as Sony does!
@@TungstenOvergaard Yeah, it's yellow. iPhones are infamous for their human skin yellow tint.
❤❤
You can shoot 48MP without RAW. Hold down on the RAW toggle and 48MP HEIF is an option.
Ahh amazing!
@@juliatrotti In „Settings -> Camera -> Formats -> Pro Standard“ you can also choose the preferred image:
