Pointless changes, he still will continue to have major holes and hence will be mid tier at best. Cr. MP is still a nerfed AA. And if EX-bullhead is not meant to be safe, why are similar moves from other characters (like for Urien & Rog) still safe? That move was the key to Birdie getting over his bad matchups The buff to ex-bullhorn is nice but it is still the most unreliable reversal due to the button charge command. I would rather have Birdie retain his strengths in other areas and give up a solid reversal.
OldManNutcakez nah he really needed a reversal option besides his throw invincible command grab. Now the opponent really has to guess about what birdie will be waking up with as long as he has meter. A big guy like that cannot be bullied like he is being bullied right now... also I if you find his reversal hard to do then that's not a buff or nerf problem; that's a "I need to be able to do this consistently" problem. 😀✌🏻️
Birdie's reversal is the least reliable in the game. That is a fact due to its input requirements. There was even a patch to accommodate this. So apparently it was (and still is) a universal issue. Every reversal can fail to come out. But only Birdie has a problem charging it up again while you are under pressure. Birdie is a utility grappler, he does not need a true reversal, he needs a unique toolset that the player should utilize well and avoid situations where you are forced to use a reversal. But Capcom is pushing him toward a rushdown grappler, cause apparently thats how they want to balance the characters.
Uh-oh. An anti-air that leads to advantageous positioning for the defender? Further deterring the attacker from jumping in? Which ultimately forces said attacker to adapt and be more thoughtful in his approach? Well! We can't have that now, can we!
Only problem I have is that they nerfed EX Bull Head, while Boxer's EX Dash Straight hasn't changed from it's +2 OB. I find it a bit unjust considering that Capcom stated that they initially nerfed EX Bull Head because they want him to play as much neutral as possible. While I understand that he is supposed to be the neutral character in SFV, the offense-oriented game makes it to where neutral isn't as rewarding as keeping pressure.
Sherlock Homie Fair enough. Still, most EX dash attacks with the upcoming patch are either minus but safe (Urien's EX Tackle) or plus OB like Boxer's. Still feels like a character like Birdie is still getting the shorter end of the stick here.
I think the armor on bullhead puts it over the top, if it didnt have armor then it would be comparable to ex dash and ex tackle. Kinda bummed out cuz i liked using ex bullhead in neutral but im more then happy to trade that for frame 1 armor again and UNNERFED CR.MP OMG YUSS.
As a terrible Birdie player I really welcome the buffs, especially bringing back the anti-air (so sick of trading with that online). I'd love it if the EX Bullhorn were throw invincible, too, but maybe that'd be asking too much! Love these videos, man. Thank you: always so concise.
I don't think It would be asking too much a all. I never understood why certain reversal moves, especially ones that cost meter, are only invincible to attacks. What's the point of wasting meter on a reversal if half the time your opponent grabs instead of attacking and you just get hit anyway?
Can't say for Birdie, but Nash has similar situation. His EX Sonic Scythe will get a throw invul, which seems unfair a bit, but i can see the point: He has two safe (or not) options for wake up: EX SS against throws and mistimed meaties and V-reversal which can save you from meaty attacks and nullify frame disadvantage. So, it's a guess game (Capcom already stated that they love guesses). But tbh, it wouldn't work until Capcom didn't fix his V-reversal, cos it can be punished on reaction.
thb I think that he's gonna stay mid to low teir character , I would add an ex chain grab for air targets, plus one or two faster normals, ex head but should be -3 to -4. what I hate is when a hard attack bet his normals for speed why :s
I respectfully beg to differ. That thing has yanked me out of a perfectly timed deep cross up jump before. It wasn't just thrown out, but it still caught me.
i know its not his design but i wish birdie had a little more combo potential and then id play him more. like give him juggle combos after bullhorn. i dont care if it scaled the damage down to bs, itd be fun to do.
Buff such easy anti air force opponent to play groundgame, which means, that he is buffed ... cause his ground game is strong, which his normals support. Same concept with Balrog with his cheap anti air and his op ground game.
2.5 Is the compromise patch. Capcom wants to listen to the plebs but also the pros so the only thing they did was reduce how badly the fucked the characters instead of keeping the reversions and pushing up the worse characters
I don't really think these changes will affect his standing as a low to mid tier character. I would've loved to see them do something about allowing him to access his V-Trigger faster. Many times by the time you get V-Trigger with Birdie, you're already dead. I think his v-Trigger should only be 2 bars and should last the duration of the round, like Necali. Birdie literally needs his V-Trigger in many matchups, it's the only thing that keeps him in most matchups. I also think that the soda can and banana should come out faster then they do. Just using his V-Trigger can get you opened up. His neutral isn't as strong as the game developers try to make it seem. He get out footsied by A LOT of the cast and has many bad matchups. I love the character but they've got to do something more to get him back into the game because most players have walked away from him.
I really dislike how fighting games have become a grueling exam in learning frame data. All I want to do is enjoy playing a game but nowadays, enjoyment comes with serious limitations if you don't have the knowledge.
Just play casual matches were the majority of people don't over examine the game. But this is something that happens in ANY game or sport. People analyze all the data to figure out their best options available. It's how you become a better player. You need to know when you can attack and when you can't, know what matchups are or aren't favorable, etc. The old proverb of 'knowledge is power' is essential in competition.
Every game comes down to it, Frame data should not be a huge factor in low ranks and even a lot of pros say they don't study frame data they just play enough to know and usually practice with another pro to learn match ups. It comes down to how you feel you want to play learning frame data is a good way to get to grips against new characters when people are using them right out of the gate but just merely playing more gives you the info on what is safe and unsafe over time its a trade off between time and effort pick which one you prefer.
That's a good suggestion. A lot of the complaints about Bull Horn is that it has to be charged. That would make it less difficult to buffer and a lot of people can't pull that move off 100%, much less buffer it.
Are you guys satisfied with the upcoming Birdie changes?
yeah , looks legit

sakabato24 Ex dash straight is plus 1 on block.

sakabato24 Who is Boxer lol.

Birdie nation, rise up. Licking chains and taking names.
Description says vega btw just so u know. Great work on video tho dude :)
copy and paste gang
WeirdEdz because they took birdie out of the game just like Alex but maybe they will return
waiting for the change xD
1:27 Yeah, until people realized that St.LP for most of the cast came out way faster and allowed for better mixups
So basically, he is season 1.5 Birdie.
EX Bullhorn with armor on 1f will help people trying to rush him down.
I'm happy with these changes.
King Jae love your vids on birdie.
So do you like these adjustments to birdie?
kest pino yeah man!!! Thanks.
MP xx LK is gonna help him tremendously, I think.
Geez if all these changes are coming at the end of April can we get the next character trailer already
Great work!
that anti air destroys my wall dives
thb I think that he's gonna stay mid to low teir character , I would add an ex chain grab for air targets, plus one or two faster normals, ex head but should be -3 to -4. what I hate is when a hard attack bet his normals for speed why :s
Paul B that would be dope ex up chain
Paul B EX Chain already anti-airs quite well.
mkl i mean more show she it in the air ex chain has to be timed right before they land. But you cant use it as a anti for air attacks
I do it and it works pretty well for far jump AAs. It has a huge upward hitbox.
I respectfully beg to differ. That thing has yanked me out of a perfectly timed deep cross up jump before. It wasn't just thrown out, but it still caught me.
Excited for these buffs I wish bullhorn(zonk) got more range cause it whiffs a lot also bring back bull slider greatest
haha i thought that was warthog from the thunbnail.
i know its not his design but i wish birdie had a little more combo potential and then id play him more.
like give him juggle combos after bullhorn. i dont care if it scaled the damage down to bs, itd be fun to do.
love my secondary as Birdie
Why didnt they nerf that fuckin high tryglyceride donut sandwich gut of his?
Why though? he was never overpowered. They should focus on other character and leave him as it is. He is an honse and well-balanced character.
Buff such easy anti air force opponent to play groundgame, which means, that he is buffed ... cause his ground game is strong, which his normals support. Same concept with Balrog with his cheap anti air and his op ground game.
i want to see ken dude... i need to know if he has better moves
Watch for matches by Takamura and Big Bird. Ken's fine, a bit reckless for my tastes but that's Ken.
what's new with ken?
off topic: I am in awe, I literally can't play at all with motion blur on.
So birdie gets no new moves Capcom?!?! Dang.
2.5 Is the compromise patch. Capcom wants to listen to the plebs but also the pros so the only thing they did was reduce how badly the fucked the characters instead of keeping the reversions and pushing up the worse characters
Glad they're getting rid of the cheese with instant, safe, armored approach options.
Lol Alex has some the same moves don't hate on ex bull head with armor
Where are those F.A.N.G changes:)
BIRDMAN!!!!!!! 🐦
EX Bullhorn should be safe or atleast -3. It's not like you can spam with free. Cr.MK is useless tool. the range isn't that good to play poke

Will you get back into KOF XIV again?

jherrenor the lower ranks it doesn't matter as much. just stay around silver or whatever and play battlelounge
Every game comes down to it, Frame data should not be a huge factor in low ranks and even a lot of pros say they don't study frame data they just play enough to know and usually practice with another pro to learn match ups.

#BOOGERBOIZ
about time lol
make bullhorn dp motion god damm that would b nice top tier
That's a good suggestion. A lot of the complaints about Bull Horn is that it has to be charged. That would make it less difficult to buffer and a lot of people can't pull that move off 100%, much less buffer it.
no im not satisfied, cause its really fair zangief get new moves but birdie don't
all thus frame data shit is ruinining the game
