** There's a second NVME SSD under the MOBO cable. Sorry about that it was hard to see! What do you guys think of the Acer Swift Edge 16? I have to say price is good as it's on sale right now for $1049 but there's a few things that I wish Acer improved. Feel free to hit the like and subscribe button if you enjoyed the video.

Thank you for your review! I have had two of these so far and will compare them here.
First one was an original one with an AMD 6800u and full 4k+ OLED 3840x2400, and I gave it to a friend. Major selling points, as you pointed out - extremely light and excellent, excellent screen. After OLED you can't go back. Negative factors: fan noise and shorter than expected battery life, but not a deal breaker.
So, I bought a second one with an upgraded AMD 7735u that was practically the same* in performance, same screen, etc., however after only two months the arrow key fell off?! To the point it cannot be fixed back on. In 25+ years I never had a key to fall off, at least not so soon. Simple scrolling, not any "gaming". I returned it. I did notice that fan was not on all the time as in the first model, but that affected cpu performance*
The new Edge you reviewed here has "just" a 3k screen 3200x2000, but at 120Hz. I was able to work comfortably with 4k+ scaled at 200%, so effectively 1200 y pixels. If I scale down 2000 y pixels it will go to a 1000, and that may be a bit large on a 16" screen, but probably fine. Any other scaling factors are quite bad, for example, I am writing this on a Lenovo Slim 5 16" with 2560x1600 scaled 150%, however it does not look nearly as good as 200% which is just too large for a 16" screen.
Next, there is a newer and better cpu 7840u (similar to one that works so well performance wise in Rog Ally), with two fans instead of one in previous year models. I am really surprised that Acer curbed cpu performance to sub 2GHz level, that is unacceptable! Few years ago I had a Swift X with 5800u and 3050 ti and performance was top notch.
A different keyboard layout is present, now with a num pad, however I do see arrow keys are practically the same lilliput size, and I question their quality. USBs are USB4 now, which is good improvement, and there is a micro SD card slot now, a stupid omission in the previous models.
Bottom line - size, lightness, screen, are so compelling, but lower performance, and keyboard quality are deal breakers this time.

Mathew, there's a second M.2 SSD slot beneath the USB board cable, just below the fans, anyway, great review as usual 👍👏

Thanks for the review Matt. I've had Acer products in the past, and they worked fine considering their low price point. However, between the constant fan noise and the down-firing speakers I think there are probably better options out there.

the reason the framework can run ryzen that well is because they use the same heat dissapation system as intel based, other manufactures always cuts off at least somthing related to heat dissapation if it's amd

That's exactly why I bought an ACER Swift Go with an Intel i5-1335U. The fan runs constantly, but at such a low speed that you practically can't hear it. It is the same model as Acer Edge but with an Intel CPU.

If you're watching this video and thinking if you should buy the 2024 version of the exact same laptop.
Short answer, yes if you like lightweight and portable 16" laptop.
Yes, the deck flex is back, but it feels sturdier than the predecessor. Fan noise is also audible, but it is not as bad as it was before. Don't have a meter for it, but I can't hear the fan noise when the laptop is on my lap and I'm focused on things. It also doesn't get hot while on silent mode.
Newer CPU gives a good performance on compiling code and for casual rendering of videos.
Keyboard takes a bit to get used to due to the chicklet style keyboard, but to be honest it isn't that bad.
Screen is amazing. My spouse has the 14" Asus Vivobook with OLED screen and it does not compare to this screens quality.
    8/10 (would recommend)

I realized that when I check out laptops in store, there is more noise and I do not know how it will sound at home.
All my laptops had some sort of annoying noise.
Eventually I just accepted that this is my life with laptops.
On a side note, Asus rog 14 even with full fan speed has the most quiet and overall pleasant sound. I recommend it.
