Nah these guys were huge when the Rev died this album was in 2003 the Rev didn't get word about his condition till 2008 and passed away late 2009 at the height of there career while they were making the nightmare album which is why they got portnoy from dream theater to do all the drums on that album only song that's really about the Rev and is a tribute is the song So Far Away which is a must listen!
Yes this album is perfect. You should check out some more of this or a track off their 1st record Sounding The Seventh Trumpet. They have had so many different styles over the years, as much as I love all their records , besides Hail To The King, this era is my favorite.
Their later songs on Nightmare were about the Rev's death, "So Far Away", "Fiction" and St James on Hail to the King. This had nothing to do with the Rev. Not really sure what its what its about. haha.
old A7x was pretty damn intense and heavy, now while they're still good they're more like...prog-y ig ik it's mainly bc the singer fucked up his vocal cords and can't do the growling and stuff anymore
Yea Matt messed up his vocal chords doing this everyday. Any growling he does later like in God Hates Us he learned a new technique. In an interview Matt also said that that wasn't the only reason they stopped. Alot of the screaming in the old material he thought was out of laziness bc he couldn't come up with a vocal melody for most of the verses.
I’m not exactly fan of screaming lyrics, but screaming for the melody and tone of the song is great, I think it’s done well in second heartbeat and Clairvoyant Disease

My God your grammar is terrible 🤦♂️
Waking The Fallen is one of the biggest groundbreaking albums in Metalcore. The best Metalcore album ever, imo
That would be Alive or Just Breathing. Waking The Fallen, This Darkened Heart and Frail Words Collapse are all in the running tho..
@@bythesea207 alive or just breathing for sure takes the crown for ground breaking metalcore album ppl need to respect that album.
Radiant Eclipse, Eternal Rest and Desecrate Through Reverence are the best ones from Waken The Fallen album for me.
Their best album
Thank You....

Such a fantastic album. A7X hasn't put out a bad one, but this one ... just hits so hard still.

Fr I love this era of a7x. This album is my favorite next to city of evil!
Not a fan of screaming....to bad because the song has great potential! Can you do more song from the stage album ?

Wdym? The Stage has plenty of “screaming” which is actually vocal fry. Every album has this type of vocals or something similar
