- Betta Fish Poop : Constipation Signs And Treatment. This video covers the signs, causes of betta fish constipation issues and detailed steps to treat them. Also prevention steps and various constipation related questions were answered. Constipation in bettas can be caused by a variety of factors, such as overfeeding or feeding them with inappropriate food. Bettas are carnivores and prefer live or frozen food like daphnia, shrimp, and ghost snails. Dried food can cause constipations, so it's important to choose the right type of food for your fish.

Betta fish poop and constipation are common concerns among aquarium owners. Betta fish, also known as Siamese fighting fish, are popular pets due to their bright colors and unique personalities. However, just like any other animal, bettas can become constipated and suffer from abnormal bowel movements.
Symptoms of constipation in bettas include bloating, stringy or white poop, and a lack of appetite. If left untreated, constipation can lead to dropsy, a serious condition that causes the fish's body to bloat and its scales to stand out. Dropsy is a sign that your betta is very sick and may not survive.
To treat constipation in bettas, you can try feeding them with a pea or an Epsom salt bath. Peas are high in fiber and can help clear up their digestive tract, while Epsom salt can relieve constipations by drawing out excess water from the fish's body. However, you should not give your betta a pea or an Epsom salt bath too often, as it can cause other health problems.
Regular tank maintenance, such as cleaning the tank and removing uneaten food, can also help prevent constipations in bettas. You should also be mindful of the location of the tank and the water temperature, as these factors can affect the fish's health.
In summary, if you notice that your betta fish is constipated or has abnormal bowel movements, it's important to take action to relieve the symptoms. Proper feeding, regular tank maintenance, and appropriate treatment can help keep your betta fish healthy and happy for a long time.

The main reason you want to avoid overfeeding is to keep your betta from developing swim bladder issues. I feed mine once a day in the mornings. 😊
DO NOT FEED YOUR BETTA PEAS. They are strictly insectivores/carnivores. Try frozen daphnia instead. Peas are only used for gold fish
I only see the goldfish man feed the goldies peas
I completely agree!! It took me a month for my 2 year old betta to finally poop. I did epsome dips to no avail. I bought kanaplex and methalyene blue and did them together. I kept changing the water and i was getting frustrated. I'm sticking to flakes instead of pellets
I have just rescued a female Betta! And she loves to over eat! Thanks for this video as it helps me out! ❤
My pleasure! Appreciate your rescue, betta fish need us
Yes they do need us
Bro make video about whight poop treatment for betta.

Please mention the concentration of Epsom salt for treating Betta fish constipation
One tablespoon for each gallon of water is my ratio. Max of 5 mins in tank.
I tried fasting , then peas , then did Epsom salt 3 times & no changes. He still has a white poo stuck and he's a bit swollen. What should I do ?
I'd stick with aquarium salt.
First comment 😎
Legend! 😀
what is the ratio of epsom salt to water and how long to hang out in each tank.

How do you get the betta to eat the pea if she won’t even eat? She’s not eating because she’s not feeling well, so I don’t know how to help her. I’ve tried putting epsom salt in her tank and it doesn’t seem to be helping. It’s been almost a week.
Is she taking any food? If not, don’t try peas now. Keep her fasting for 3-4 days. Keep change water daily. Give salt bath daily for 30mins. Keep the water temperature to 82F. Continue this for next 4 days
I need a lot of help. My betta fish has a BIG BIG lump on its side. I really wanna help my fish, it makes me super sad . I don’t know if it’s because I moved the betta fish with my goldfish fishes which has a different tempature from the other tank the betta fish was in I’m sure ? But I just need help. It makes me extremely sad please help I don’t know what to do it hurts. Fyi, the lump on the side not on its stomach
Lump on betta can be from any injury cause, or even tumor. Please check this video to see it helps. Reach me at insta with pictures to help better. ua-cam.com/video/OFG65xlLizs/v-deo.htmlsi=hlCl6Uex1BCptTuU
I feed my male betta about 4-6 pellets in the morning and at night. He eats them all pretty fast but could that be the cause of his bloated belly. And I tried fasting him, didn't work so now I'm trying Epson salt baths. So, no change yet, but swelling not getting bigger which is good.
Fast him for 3-4 days. Then introduce half a piece of greenpeas
@@aquadiaryofficial okay ill try that. Should I also give him a epsom salt bath in like two days while he’s fasting
That’s way too many peas😂c😂😂

My betta started getting bloated due to stealing food from other tank mates. I fasted him for 3 days a fed him daphnia. I didn’t see any change so I fasted him for another day and fed him more daphnia. I’ve also tried peas with no progress. I’ve been considering epsom salt baths
Isolate and Fast him for 3 days. Try peas after that. Give 5mins for flaring workout everyday
new school of thought does not suggest peas. Betta is carnivorus hence the general consensus is that it doesnt possess same digestive system to digest peas.
I've had bettas for years now I recently got a double crown tail I got him at less then 5cm after like 2 months of an active healthy fish now he's bloated barley swims will put himself in between objects to keep himself in one spot I feed him peas he goes good for a day or 2 then back to being bloated
When I first got him his side fins are different colours and ones like a C split but I think it's healed but it's deformed he's in a 5.5gal I keep water 78°© change water have a filter leaf hammock I also use stress coat idk what to do will he grow out of it? Is he inbred I've honestly tried everything
Some bettas are genetically small. May be checking your Petra picture may help to suggest better. Post on my fb or insta to help better. Detail in description
Can we give them blood worms after they do a after they do a truck, correct?❤
Blood worms are high protein and less fiber. I would wait for a week to introduce blood worms.
Moina is good for feather growth please tell me
They are high protein, so its good for overall growth. But it’s more suited for betta fry as they are small and easy to consume. 👍
Dude my female betta is just 2.5 cm but yet she have egg in her belly can i use her for breeding purpose.
Thank you Dude❤
Yes, if you see visible egg spot and belly is big, you can setup for breeding. Some females are genetically small, so it’s fine. Wish you good luck!
@@aquadiaryofficial thanks bro
Do you sell/ship bettas by any chance? Would love to purchase from you
In USA bro.
@@aquadiaryofficial Ahh ok I'm in India
Here to fix something false said in the video:
There is no such thing as a fish that eats betta poop/feces. However there are fish that will eat algae and leftover food. Saying that shrimp, plecos, and corydoras eat poop is a false statement
that’s right. Thanks for correcting it. There is no fish that will eat poop. Occasionally fish are seen chewing on fish poop, but that is because they mistake it for food. Helpful comment. 👍
I received a constipated betta from a fish store, so been trying to treat it, its been 8 days still no improvement, it doesnt eat peas n i havent fed him other food…i give him epsom salt bath everyday bt no result..dun know what else to do..
Fast him for few days. Increase the water temperature to 80F
Brother, i got a new betta. But it is not eating for 3 day and if it eat something It's spitting it out ..what should i do
Check this video. There is a chance betta may not get used to the food you are trying. Usually it takes few days. ua-cam.com/video/XCx2JQ3vowE/v-deo.htmlsi=BZweoXh9bWveiVXg
How many pelets should I feed my betta per day without getting her bloated?
It’s based on your betta fish size. I would suggest to start with 4 pellets.. 2 times a day. Also make sure, betta consume them within 2-3mins. If betta is not consuming the food within 2-3mins, you need to reduce. Do soak in water for few mins before feeding.
Dude is it possible to hybrid Betta and Gourami
Yes, but I don’t encourage it. Actually this hybrid type called as Bettami. Breeding success rate is less as it’s require some expert attention. Also, Hybrids are usually sterile and cannot reproduce.
@@aquadiaryofficial Thank you bro
My fish cant dive down in water because of a mistake i made while feeding
What can i do to help him?
Please check whether fill or fins affected. Usually it will auto recover unless it’s heavy physical injury.
How much micro pallets at a time
Interesting question. I couldnt exactly tell the count as there are different sizes of micro pellets. But I had micro pellets which 4 size smaller than usual pellets. So, I use to feed 12 of them per time(3x4 normal pellets) as long as my betta able to consume all in 2mins.
Can I use can or frozen peas?
Yes, but use them well cooked and brought to room temperature
Not have Epsom salt ,can i put Rock Salt 😢
Epsom salt best internal bowl movement! But you can start with rock salt.
@@aquadiaryofficial yesterday i feed chicken to him,now is overfeeding problem best treatment fast treatment bro
Mine WILL NOT eat peas!! If it doesn't float, he won't touch it. 😮
Yeah. That’s hard. I tried that too. Initially I dried and made them pellet size and feed with couple of green pellet pieces. He slowly picked it up
Is it safe to put all betta fish babies in one tank
It depends. Usually few frys will be much bigger than others, they try to eat weaker and smaller frys. So it’s always better to spilt them based on size if there are much difference.
my male baby betta fish is extremely aggressive when with any other fish. ive even seen him go after a snail that is 20x the size of him. (literally the biggest mystery snail ive seen) my baby is also so big, i just went back to petco for some supplies and saw their current baby bettas... they are like 1/4 the size of him!!

My fish is so FAT
Is that only belly fat? Or overall looks big?
@@aquadiaryofficial her belly is very big, I noticed it would slowly increase in size, but she's still a very active fish, same if she had no big belly. I have her on a fasting period rn.
Update: gave her salt baths and kanaplex over a week, shes back to normal 🤙🤙
I feed my betts fish 4 pellets once a day is that ok
Yes! As long as your betta able to eat all 4 of them within 3 minutes.
Pellets are ok, but I recommend looking into frozen food such as blood worms, mysis shrimp, or daphnia.
@@Betta_Days but why do I need to feed him this I thought pellets are healthy this seems unnecessary
@@Betta_Days pls tell me why he needs other foods
