- Having some fun taking the SUBARU ASCENT OFF-ROAD in the ARIZONA DESERT! If you want to see what a STOCK Subaru Ascent can actually do, watch the WHOLE video! This video is not meant to be very technical but more focused on having some fun in Reddington Pass, east of Tucson, Arizona.

Obviously not a true off-roader, but more than capable enough for what most families will ask of it. Thanks for posting this video, it was fun to watch.

Despite Subaru's awesome abilities with these rough roads, it's good to have a backup, driving with a buddy. Besides, you can occasionally swap cars if you want to, to add to the fun adventures.

Compare to where I live, this is enough grass-covered area to not to be considered a desert but rather a woodlands and meadows.
Thanks for this video! I'm considering the 2022 Ascent as my next car to replace the 2005 Xterra you sold me as a used car back in 2013 from the Tucson Subaru dealership. Glad to see this car won't disappoint after driving an Xterra for so long.

Also impressive is doing that on stock tires. Just wondering, did you air down?
I didn't air down. I would have but I truly wanted to see the normal stock capability first.
@@TrentTheCarGuy that's saying a lot for those low profile tires on big wheels. Impressed it handled all of that without any punctures or sidewall tears. Thanks for the reply

why are Subaru so good off road when it is just all wheel drive not four wheel drive?
I live in US but I have a Subaru Crosstrek in Philippines and I really is satisfied with it handling, usually the crossover's like CRV ride bumpy but the Crosstrek shows compy ride even its rear wheels already below the seats.

Nope.. I love my ascent .. I'm not going to do that .. 😂
This is just one way I enjoy my vehicle. Everyone is different and that is totally fine by me! 👍 I love my Ascent too!

I am sorry but this trail is not difficult. Need to push the engine, braking, suspension AND offroad-ness of said vehicle to see where (in reality of real obstacles)! No offense, really; however, my Honda Fit could take on this trail! Eh? I have pictures of off-setting the articulation of both axels.
How do you think the stick tires would do on beach sand.
I wouldn't expect much out of them and any deep sand. There are still plenty of limitations on a stock Subaru. I have since upgraded my tires from the stock ones.

Cosmetic memory, I’ll have to use that one!! Excellent video, this is exactly what we needed. Even TFL hasn’t done one like this.
Just wish the ascent had a more truck-like squared off look.
However, an engine will make troubles later 5 years. It costs to $1000.00. Yes or no?
I haven't had that issue. I've had 11 Subarus and 2 Ascents and I've been completely happy with the reliability.
I’m a mechanic and own my own shop. Subaru’s have tons of problems as they age. Fuel pumps, wheel hubs, valve guide leaks, head gaskets, cvt valve body failures, oil consumption, are the main problems I see. Usually begin about 3 years old. But many of my clients have oil consumption from the moment they drive a Subaru off the lot. 1 quart of oil every 1500-2000 miles is common.
