Fun Fact: Gladiator and the Imperial Guard are based on Superman and the Legion Of Superheroes from the DC comics. Gladiator's name is Kallark a mix of of Kal+Clark, Chris Claremont wanted his own in house version of Superman, so he created Gladiator.
@@LegendsofPodcasting A major difference between Superman and Gladiator is that Gladiator gets his power from how confident he is. So the more confident he is, the more powerful and the less confident he is, the less powerful
32:30 "Beyond Omega level" indeed and we can see it in the sequence, as well. Too bad most people miss it cuz she is doing some beyond Omega level stuff in it from her blasting the Adversary who mind you cannot be harmed by any elemental attacks but only specific energy based attacks and then molecular manipulation with her hair and costume via electrolysis/mysticsm most likely, as well. That is Storm beyond Omega level mutant and that is just 2/5th of her true power.
I noticed Gladiator here exhibits powers such as super strength, tanking projectiles, flight, gust breath, and laser eyes. Is he literally Marvel's version of superman?
Yes. The Imperial Guard was symbolic of the Justice League of its time. But even Claremont admitted that the JL could beat the X-Men in a head to head...
Marvel has a number of superman types like hyperion, blue marvel, sentry, taegukgi, gladiator, count nefaria, ryan sentry etc...There are others as well. Look these up on marvel wiki and comicvine.
Gladiator was pretty cool with how fast he stepped in to protect Lilandra, and seeing Vulcan was awesome. But the Class in session moment with Xavier was pretty awesome. Im personally not a fan of Storms costume change. It shows far too much skin and looks kinda impractical in the field. That original All White Suit with the Mohawk is a better fit for a Goddess imo.
Love gladiator. So OP Yeah didn’t mention it but no who Vulcan is. I prefer storms white outfit as well. New one is very 70s which is where it’s from. No Xs on it either
Do you know what the biggest mystery of this show, for me, is so far? Why Marvel have even bothered with a 'skip intro' button???? Why would we even want to skip on that awesome nostalgic theme tune? Never gonna happen on my Disney+ 😂😂
Agreed. I spoke to someone today who actually skipped this weeks…..shocking. I do love that they change it each episode so even more reason not to skip
Interesting theory that Leech may have negated Magneto's power to make him undetectable to the Kaiju Sentinel. Let's see who else is under that force field that can help them survive in theory: Erg - guy with spikey hair and eyepatch. His power is to absorb energy. Not sure if he's able to absorb that much from the sentinel blast but who knows? Tommy - Girl with the rainbow colored hair. Her power is to make her body flat as paper. Not sure if she can extend that to other people but in this universe, maybe she can? Ape - Guy in the beanie. His power is to morph into inanimate objects. He can disguise as rubble.
Gambit won’t be coming back, but will become one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Death), along with Sinister (Pestilence) Bastion (War) and Mystique (Famine) who has been hiding as Val Cooper
They had to show Nimrod in the opening for a reason? Are we sure he wasnt the one who shot Trask and is working with Sinister? There's probably someone else pulling all the strings.
i think the shot of gambit and nightcrawler fighting side by side was just made for the intro (unfortunately). like the shot of rogue kissing gambit on the basketball court
I love how Charles can sum up the events of this episode as, my sister-in-law is a massive bitch and keeps making trouble for me. I was a little surprised Charles is coming back already. I expected him to return or find out what happened in the season finale. I still enjoyed this episode and seeing the Shi'ar Empire. I am curious if Sinister is working on his own or if be is working for Apocalypse.
It was pretty heartbreaking and horrifying to have Charles feeling “the massive disturbance in the Force” the Genosha Holocaust caused… especially Gambit’s death… calling them all his “Children of the Atom”. I’m still shook from last week… I just can’t believe Gambit is gone. He’s my favorite X-Man, right next to Wolverine. Seriously, if I ever got dropped into an X-Men Universe, I would want Gambit as my mentor to train me on how to use my mutant powers. Also, now we know that Mr. Sinister is involved/responsible for the Genosha Holocaust. It’s very possible that Magneto survived it. If he did, he will very likely hunt down Trask… but if he finds out about Sinister… there will be extreme hell to pay. Especially since Magneto really hates Sinister for what he did to him, Charles, the rest of the X-Men and the people of the Savage Land in Season 2 of X-Men: TAS.
I have a theory that this show could lead into the all of the heroes of the 90’s getting killed ending the heroic age and then they do an animated 2099 X-men series in the same continuity! And then they could do the same for the 90’s Spider-Man.
And one other thing i noticed in last weeks episode. The camera crew seem ready to out Roberto as a mutant. They have him onscreen with Jubilee in the little montage, and yet he hasn't even told his parents about his powers yet. Oops lol.
ROB IS BACK! Yes. Loving the shirt too. Loved the decompressing done at the beginning, going over the prior episode. I was surprised to see Nightcrawler in the intro when he wasn't in the episode at all. Did you notice that Scott's brother Gabriel Summers was among the Shi'ar Imperial Guard? The Lillandra / Deathbird sibling rivalry reminds me of the DC Comics Starfire and Blackfire's rivalry. I still don't get how Ororo was able to manifest the classic black uniform, but it was fun to see her in it again. Brought me back to her Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends cartoon appearances. P.S. Rock rocks
Was one of those guys Vulcan aka Gabriel Summers the unknown brother of Cyclops & Havoc? Speaking of which Cyclops & Havoc have met only once but they don’t know that their brothers, do you think that will happen eventually in the show?
Storm awakened her mutant ability AND magical lineage in this episode is just chef kiss
quite boring. Actually, they really dragged that one out.
The music made the transformation epic
@@Pinkielover you’re boring
That Storm transformation looks so epic. X-men 97 is still a class above the rest!
It keeps exceeding my already high expectations. Love this show

I mean you can tell he has a very similar power set. I did live in the old show when he threw juggernaut
@@LegendsofPodcasting A major difference between Superman and Gladiator is that Gladiator gets his power from how confident he is. So the more confident he is, the more powerful and the less confident he is, the less powerful
we have superman at home
superman at home
Storm back her powers back - and then some. Ahhh Yes!
I really do enjoy how they parallel Storm and Charles journeys.
Also, the Shiar think the Milky Way is a "ghetto".
I mean... Were they wrong? 😭
No, they think Earth is a ghetto *of* the Milky Way.
No lmao, they think that earth is the ghetto of the milky way
they aren't exactly wrong but still rude
Well humans are a failed experiment 🤷🏾♂️😂

@@bratpack6571well, the LSH more than the JLA, but yeah
If this series keeps get these great stories from the comic we have to get House of M by season 3.
I hope season 2 already, can't wait for it.

You sound very confident
This episode should be called “Angry Birds”
😂 genius

That is true on the kissing scene but that is a shot from the Jim Lee comic book run. Not sure where the gambit and nightcrawler shot has come from
Having your mind erased isn't a challenge... Walking down stairs? There's a challenge! 🤣
Was harsh but fair…..🙊😂
She should have challenged him to a game of hopscotch

I am curious as well. Doesn’t seem like a normal sinister plan so I am assuming working with or for someone else

This episode was great but I was a bit lost since I don’t know everything about Marvels alien races or heroes
Have you not watched the original 92 seasons?
in order for an age of apocalypse you need professor x to never exist, not just to be dead....... and he's not dead.
And one other thing i noticed in last weeks episode. The camera crew seem ready to out Roberto as a mutant. They have him onscreen with Jubilee in the little montage, and yet he hasn't even told his parents about his powers yet. Oops lol.

Storm had the ability to just magic her white uniform on in the original show. It was never explained, it’s just how it was.
Was one of those guys Vulcan aka Gabriel Summers the unknown brother of Cyclops & Havoc? Speaking of which Cyclops & Havoc have met only once but they don’t know that their brothers, do you think that will happen eventually in the show?
I would hope so. Be great for scott to know he has at least 1 brother
Did y'all notice Gabriel Summers was part of the Imperial Guard? Also Forge is a mutant and a shaman.
As Vulcan. We did afterwards. Wonder if they will do anything with that mean Scot doesn’t even know about havok yet
There is no such thing as beyond omega level. Storm just unlocked her omega potential better.
Upper omega level then
magneto has the ability to create wormholes like a teleport.. so yeah, he's not dead. He doesn't use it a lot, but he can.
What comic does he do that? Sounds awesome
Remember it
Will never forget
Professor X just didn't seem like himself.
Yeah different take but least he’s back
This show is so good it should be nominated for best TV series at the next Emmys even if it's animated.
100% it is outstanding
Gladiator is so super, man
Think he was created as marvels version of superman to be fair
