I was a Army Cadet from 71 - 75 in belleville Ontario with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment 2818 Army Cadets. Went through the Ranks finished as a Cadet Major.😊
Army cadets started for me in '76 (328 RCAMCC, Saskatoon). My fondest memories. I was fortunate enough to be selected for training at Banff camp, for master cadets. Made life long friends there.
I started my cadet career in the air cadets. I spent 2 years with the air cadets not once I was promoted or sent to summer camp then I quit them and then joined the army cadets with in a week I was promoted up one rank and was sent to veron ,B.C to the junior leaders course in 1985 then the following year I did a 6 week course in Winnipeg, Manitoba called the rifle coach course was in 1986. But within 2 weeks a bunch of us cadets got sick with food poisoning. I moved back home to Newfoundland in September of 86 and transferred over the army cadets in Newfoundland and from 87 to 89 I did cadet leader(cl) then the cadet leader instructor course(cli) in 88 then my last year in cadets I was picked for being a staff cadet at junior leader(Jl) course for the 7 weeks that summer. Then I was a civilian instructor(ci) with a local air cadets squadron in Alberta in the min 1990s😊
Probably 2 in 1000 cadets likely join the the Reserves or the Regular Force since the late 90’s because of some parent interference and people training that have no “real” Military experience at all…terrible loss of potential recruits for the reserves or the Regs.

Never knew the program had officer ranks. Promotions must’ve been every 2 months!

They took the “Army” out of Army Cadets in the late 80’s. Now they might as well come in line with cub scouts…tragic loss of an amazing organization!
Agreed!
100%

I don’t think this is Lloyd Robertson. The interviewer is referred to at the 1:38 mark as “Warren.”
Yeah, well they wouldn’t be allowed to call it that today…😂😂
