  • Large septic repair job including curtain drain repairs, additional cover soil, new lateral line and finish grading. During trenching I hit an unmarked gas line that threw a wrench into my plans!

Why wouldn't you compact the soil in the trench with the digger bucket??

I wanted to make sure to get all corners tight and make sure there would not be any leakage. I raked it in about 4" thick lifts and compacted with the hand tamper. This was the main cause of effluent leakage from the field to the ditch. So wanted to make sure that stopped. Thanks for the comment!

where did you get the teeth for the excavator bucket ?

Are you talking about the flared teeth on the 12" and 36" digging buckets? I get them from H&L tooth. They're great for trench bottoms! But when I dig for a tank I have to switch to my 30" bucket with pointed teeth for harder soils.

@@rngn2010 no problem! Just make sure you get the right kind of attachment style. Kubota uses x156 shanks. What kind of machine do you have?

@@rngn2010 nice that's an awesome machine. I filled in for another contractor to dig some 3 phase electrical utilities and used his 50g. It was a lot stronger and longer reach than my kx040
