    *From a business standpoint, your video is PRICELESS! Companies cannot buy promotion like this, your unabashed honestly and enthusiasm is what every advertising agency tries to replicate when they shoot commercials. I sure hope they see this video and read my comment because you deserve a sponsorship or something more than just an attaboy. Seriously, I have never ridden an MRP shock but, I can assure you the next fork I purchase will ship from 580 N Westgate Dr, Grand Junction, CO 81505! You are super nice and would never say this yourself but, I will..... Hey MRP, Sheyn needs a sponsorship!* ✊

    • @adchristian80
      @adchristian80 6 років тому +1

      Not worried about the extra weight. Just wondering which is the better option and if coil is worth the weight increase. Coil interests me due to less maintenance and not having to check air pressures and also not changing due to elevation changes and heat. Not that many good reviews on the coil ribbon so far. Cheers for the reply ;)

    • @TheCrashingDad
      @TheCrashingDad  6 років тому

      adchristian - for my gnarly trails, I LOVE the coil! I love not having to check my air pressures (positive and negative) all the time... And it's consistently buttery smooth... But with ramp control, it ramps up for the ending stroke -
      I think the air feels GREAT too... But it's my "tinkering" fork. I always have to (like to) adjust my pressures and play with the negative air pressure...
      If I were building a trail bike where I cared about weight, I would go with air... An "Enduro" style bike (like my Altitude) I would choose coil 🤷‍♂️
      Oh geeze... But the air would be so good too... 🤯 Don't make me choose! 😂

    Cool video, I'm in Australia so the whole local thing doesnt apply to me, but I'm loving my Ribbon coil (Nomad 4), it can feel a bit stictiony when just standing over the bike pushing down, but on the trail it is everything you could ever want a fork to be, super supportive, rides high in the travel, plush, you can adjust the bottom out and the small bump is amazing. MRP FTW.

      Have a go using a 20w oil with your next service(and a nice amount of slick honey around the wiper seals). It will transform the fork. I went from 5w to 20w and it is night and day how non stictiony the fork is now. I've done maybe 100km after changing to the 20w oil and they are still perfect no matter how you load them up.

    After seeing someone put an MRP coil shock on their HD5, I'm curious to see how that goes. I'm not totally sure about the progressive action, though. I like the linear feel of the DHX2 I demoed. This is mostly for comfort with my RA, though I would still love to try an MRP. That will be a while, if ever, to get a new shock.

    • @TheCrashingDad
      @TheCrashingDad  4 роки тому +1

      I haven't tried the coil shocks... But I'm seriously thinking about taking the fox 36 off and putting a Ribbon Coil up front... So linear and buttery. Changed my world! Lol
      Also makes me want to toss the dpx2 and go with a Hazzard coil in the rear....
      And I would just go with the standard linear springs...and if that doesn't suit me, THEN I'd spring for the progressive spring (which really is only progressive in the last bit of travel...linear in the first majority....from what I can tell looking at the progressive springs and how they're wound)
      Great to see you on that new HD5 🤘🏼

    0:04 Fo orks.
    Great stuff:-)
    I think I will get mrp fork, but not decided if I would go for coil or air. but I ride in hot summer & cold winter, I can definitely feel difference in harshness & softness, but it might be temperature affecting the oil. in the spring I can get a very harsh fork that suddenly gets plush after few climbs and descents and jumps, that's with Fox 32 evo.
    I have many few MRp chain guides, but I switched to Absolute Black / 77designz bashguide, better mud clearance. but their forks seem like a good idea, but I haven't tried one yet.
    I installed Cush Core on both wheels, with it I was able to drop suspension pressure by 20psi, 4 in the tyres.
    I am not sure about tuning option on my fork, which comes with a huge grey volume spacer already, but Cush Core made the setup feel pretty nice, I am sure Mrp Ramp control will feel great, I think I should build a new bike soon, I am still waiting for answer from Trek, I have been really bad lately so could not travel anywhere, it might take a while before Trek does anything, I am on the last hanger, so will probably be with only hardtail soon:-(.
    but my next bike will definitely have to have as good fork as MRP.

      @@TheCrashingDad Yeah shame really it only came out in 2017.You can see why people stick with the same companies when the little firms just stop making products in a short amount of time.

      @@onemoreriff7644 I can see that... But also, that fork only had 32mm stanchions...and for a DH oriented fork, that wouldn't cut it... So as a smaller operation, it was easier and quicker for them to be able to cut that and move on 🤷‍♂️ whereas a bigger company would have tons of inventory 🤷‍♂️

      Just me calling out a local MTB company that I think is awesome and does a great job 🤷‍♂️ I got to take a tour... So I made a video that I liked... Instead of just an hour of footage of me walking through and getting the backstory behind the company, with bad audio while machining is going on...
      Sorry if you didn't like it 🤷‍♂️
