Orangie is my favorite of those shown. It's why we tune in every week. After the accident, the climb out of the snow storm in Montana, and watching you tinker with it for years, I couldn't imagine watching without her in the show... although we did tune in weekly during the Defender's reign. Great episode as always and and thank you! 👍

Earth Roamer on a Gladiator chassis would be amazing. 👍🏻
We laughed out loud on your description of driving your Revel. Our 2018 Sprinter behaves the same way.

Love your videos, Chris. I look forward to them every week. Keep the Defender. I have a ‘77 F150 4x4 my grandpa bought new. I occasionally think about selling it, but I know I’d regret it the next day. Always something not perfect on it, but I love driving it, and just having it in the family. See you next week.

Loved seeing a video with a Jeep Earthroamer in it! We own XV-JP No5 here in the UK. Ours has a flysheet to go over the fabric for storms, which thus far has kept it pretty water tight, although as with any tent, a bit noisy when windy. The previous owners had also removed the cassette toilet, so we've fitted a composting type. It'll always be a work in progress I guess, but it's been generally enjoyable so far.

I loved the Jeep Earth Roamer and feel like they just introduced it too soon and at the wrong time. 2008-9 was the housing market/ financial crash and it would be a few years before overlanding was a “thing” and the economy recovered. Fast forward ten years and overlanding became mainstream. Manufacturers were asking, and getting outrageous prices for rigs, gear and accessories.

Thanks for putting together this aggregate of vehicles Chris. Even though I've watched your channel chronologically and entirely, hearing you show and compare the vehicles side by side really showcases the some of the pros and cons of different platforms (perhaps you could further explore more platforms in the future on your channel? I would really like to see you take out a Sportsmobile and compare it to your Reval). I also want to mention that you inspired me to get a Wrangler Rubicon with Ursa Minor. I've just had it since last December, but I love it! You once said on your channel that the Ursa Minor 'will help you to get out and explore more frequently" and you weren't kidding. Even though I'm a weekend warrior I've been able to expand my explorations ten fold this year and I've never before been able to get so far off into the backcountry (except when backpacking). With the Jeep I've been able to build upon your enhancements much faster than I might have had I been starting from scratch on my own. Thank you so much for making this channel and staying committed to it for so long! My jeep and this channel bring me joy every week!

Hope everything goes well with your foot and ankle. I broke my 5th metatarsal snowboarding in my early 30s. Fortunately it did not seperate, and no ankle issues. I will say I had an occasional twinge of pain in that bone for 2-5 years. So don't worry if you feel that with time after healing. I remember the boot😉

I completely agree on the romance and crawl performance of the old defenders. There is something about the way they track through the back roads that makes them seem indestructible. Simplistic perfection.
But since they were never really imported to the U.S. by Land Rover, the best thing we mere mortals get is the Jeep Wrangler. With the Jeep, however, we get parts availability, even better off road capability ( especially with the Rubicon) and freeway compatible speed, handling , and comfort. I get 23 mpg on the highway with my JKU.
So unless you want to spend $110,000 plus for a fully restored vintage LR, ( agreed they are awesome) the Jeep is the perfect choice.

Ursa minor really has missed a huge feature by not being able to push the bed platform up out of the way like all the troopy/defender conversions to make for more interior space!

I did not even know that Earthroamer made something for the Jeep Wrangler platform. IT looked pretty cool to me, but as Chris noted, it had its flaws and needed some more work to really hit that full time RVlife nail. It is cool to see that they tried, and like Chris, you can kinda lament that they never worked those details out. I would think, with the overlanding/camping/vanlife boom, that an Earthroamer Wrangler Rubicon would be a hot seller, if they had kept it in production past 2008, and into the 2020s.
I also liked that we got to see what a very young Mr Schontz looked like from the pics he showed while tooling around in that ER-ubicon. Plus all the other older footage he used, as though I watched all those other vids, I liked seeing them in place and in order here. Chris kind of reminds me of Superman/Clark Kent in that, his face changes to the point he actually looks noticeably different, when he wears glasses or has a robust beard or had shaved. I always thought it was silly that people could not tell Kent was superman just from putting on some glasses and adopting a slightly different hair style, but Chris shows us that while it is still silly to think no one would notice, a man can change his look drastically with a few minor aesthetic alterations, and look the same, yet a bit different with each iteration.
Lastly, it was cool seeing the OK4WD Taco with the Khaya and permanent campers again, as I really liked those adventures. Likewise, I had totally forgotten about the RAM 3500 adventure, so it was cool seeing that and my memory slowly filling in the blanks. I likewise hope he keeps that Land Rover, and finds some way to incorporate it into his travels as a fleet alternative in case he has problems with Orangy or that Revel, again. It would be super cool if Cole flew out to spend time with him again, and got to drive and live in the LR while out and about with his father and Shannon and Finnegan.

That ER jeep would be around 150k or more now. Almost 3 times the cost of the jeep itself. Still way to niche I believe.

The first and last vehicles are both inspiration for my build. I wanted a modern, reliable, short wheelbase high capacity single cab pickup for actual payload and capacity, and a back flip style roof tent camper system like the ER-JP that allowed for stand up space and simultaneous sleep space. I settled on the F-150 RCSB and a AT Habitat. Check you the build on my channel or Insta.

To be honest. We have a Jeep and an F150 which we used for overlanding. The Jeep had a Napier SUV tent attached to the back and the F150 has a bed rack and roof top set up. We know neither of these are a permanent solution. That Ram set up is about as close to a permanent solution as we can find as of yet!

Can you do another video on gps/finding camping? I’m from new England and struggle to find places to take my wrangler jlu rubicon. A lot of trails have gotten shut down and most of the camping is crowded. I love how you manage to get far away from everyone and want to be able to do it myself. Hope you read this and thanks for another great video

Well that was a good video that one Jeep there was ahead of its time not built up properly. If they restarted that it might be okay today but back in the day nobody's into it for that much. Yeah take your time on that foot. There's no rush. Let it heal properly before you go crazy. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦🩼
