- Today I'm unboxing the brand new TWINSTAR Ver. 3 450SM. This is the latest version of TWINSTAR's most premium LED light. I'm unboxing the 45 cm model with the fixed metal legs, hence the "450SM". I'll give you my first impressions of the light and I'll discuss what's new in this Ver. III model compared to the Ver. II light. I purchased this light with my own money.

Beautiful light 😊 it has a better spread than the small onf light which seems to be the biggest visual upgrade
The spread was my biggest issue with the tiny light. I was pushing the limits of it too much for a high energy layout like this

You can also trim more heavy on the right and transplant the cuttings into the LHS
With this new light the left side is catching up quick! But great tip nonetheless!

A really nice light 👍 but I can't believe that still to this day for the high asking price they can't include a dimmer in the box.
The lack of a dimmer is a bit confounding. The lower priced models have a built-in dimmer, so I'm a bit puzzled as to why this one doesn't. That aside, it's an incredible light!
can you post a video on how the results where from the past 1 year?
I've actually since upgraded to the v4 but I loved the light! Definitely recommend a dimmer though. v4 comes with one

Can this fit to a 15 gallon tank?
It's for a 45cm width tank so whip out that tape measurer and go from there. Twinstar also sells versions with extendable legs
You think jumping up from the E series on a 30cm to the S would have much impact on growth and coloration (making red plants more red)
E is 1000 lumen 16 watts
S is 1200 lumen 23 watts.
Yeah it makes a big difference. Adjust your intensity accordingly so you don't get algae right away
Thanks for the response Logan. I have the Twinstar dimmer so would you start at level 5 on the S for 8hrs since that’s what my plants are use to an 8hr schedule. I’m currently on level 7 with the E series light.
Wait is there no LED app control that lets you turn the red down?
Unfortunately no app integration out of the box with this light. I have a strong feeling the next version of TWINSTAR lights will be moving in that direction though
What one do they sell for a 80cm tank as can’t seem to find one
Your best bet is to get a suspended 900 made for a 90cm.
How do you control it?
