You have no idea how lovely and soothing this was.... I have spinal and hip arthritis, and a couple of days ago ended up having to change a tyre on my own. I'm now paying for it. I haven't slept in 2 nights because my hip is just aching, and I ran out of pain killers. This was something to take my mind off being uncomfortable, and fill in the time..... Lol I wish it was longer.
Ive been learning the art of book binding for about a year now but its kinda hard to follow videos sometimes. I always found your explainations to be easy to follow and fun to watch. Take care of yourself, and great work!
@@FourKeysBookArtswhich is the best video to watch to hear to speak about this part of the binding process? What type of binding is it called when you use the strings/ribbons on the wooden device that holds the strings in place while you sew
This was amazing watching and drinking too. I've allways wonderd how books are constructed. And this was an experience to note. Thank you full heartly.
Ahhh Dennis, what a lovely book. I see you have given up on excellence again and gone for perfection 😉 still the only man on you tube that can do a weaver's knot. ☑️
I would love a video that discusses your journey… Complete with examples of your early work… The evolution of your tools… And if you had to start over today, how would you learn the craft?
I'd LOVE a video on your thoughts about tools. The progression of purchasing. What tools to buy QUALITY first. If one was willing to invest some money into quality gear (which increases the joy of the art), where would you recommend one to invest their dollars?
If only at age 16 my careers teacher had mentioned book binding, I could kill her for pointing me towards dentistry! 😂 am going to have a very amateur dabble though, thank you for the inspiration I hope it’s as relaxing for you as it looks.
What are the cloth pieces you incorporate while sewing. I have searched and just keep finding headbands which I am familiar with. Thanks so much. Wonderful video by the way
Please can you show a video on how to stitch the pages together step by step I am just learning and the other videos I've watched from other people are hard to see how to stitch. Please can you show this more clearly. Thank you.
Hello! Your channel has helped me so much in learning how to bookbind! This video is lovely! 😄 I had a question about the sewing. I sewed all the pages of a book together using the method shown in the Medieval bookbinding video, and it holds, but the individual page sets (if that makes sense) are really loose. I’m wondering how I can try to tighten them to keep the pages more secure? Thank you! God bless you and your work! ✨
Ah yes, that was was sewn on cords, which can be tricky to get the tension right. It's important to make sure all of the stitches are pulled snug, but not too tight (which is hard to explain; like a nice hug rather than a bear-hug if that makes any sense). And when sewing on cords the thread should go all the way around the support cords and back into the signature through the same sewing hole. That gives maximum support. I hope that helps!
hey I'm relatively new to bookbinding, ive made 3 complete books 200page and working on my 4th and 5th, id like to ask is there really any difference to waxing you own thread to using pre waxed?
When your binding a book when should you use binders tape? I love your videos! Congrats on the 100k! I think for your 100k video you should do a treasure binding! But I'd also love a video that explains which kind of stitching is appropriate for the kind of book your making.
I have a question: While was watching another channel of someone stitching the signatures, he prepped them by clamping them and using a hacksaw to score the signatures making the holes for threading easier; does this alternate way weaken the overall integrity of the signatures and what are the benefits of this technique, if any?
@FourKeysBookArts hi, I'm pretty crafty but I a having the hardest time getting a 5 hole stitch correctly. I have watched some other people's videos on that but I am still confused because I can't sem to do the buttonhole stitch right. Do you have a video for a 5 stitch signatures? Most of the other ones just show 1 signature, which doesn't help at all.

Watch the dungeons and dragons book series next time. It’s amazing. 😊
Hope you get well soon. Try asmr videos or turn down the sound, could help. 🙏
You can also scroll down the Playlist, the first 3 or 4 videos have no talking.

A deft weaver's knot in the middle! Play-by-play, this is delightful stuff... Thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome!
What a great video. Just a man, his work, and another amazing sweater.

I’m liking this mainly because of the no talking no music. How refreshing!

Oh thank you!
I've spent hours trying to do those - still end up with a tangled mess. One day!
Such precision. It looks so rewarding.
Ah! How joyous this was to watch. I totally relaxed it was so soothing. Thank you so much.

Congrats on hitting 100K subs my friend! Well deserved.
Here's to the next 100K. 🍻
I could not figure out how you attached the end papers?? Lots of fun to watch, even so!
Same, it makes me dying from curiousity ! Hope there is/will be an answer

The sound the awl makes when piercing the signatures just tickles *~that part~* of my brain
This kind of video helps me focus on my own work! Don’t know why or how but it does.
I like your videos, and also so relaxing specially the paper sound 😅 big like 👍🏻

@7:36 - What is this wizardry?!? A way of attaching thread to a needle such that it doesn't slip right off the first time you pull it through???
It's a weaver's knot - video tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/t0utbeyOLug/v-deo.html

What does the diagonal line on the signatures do?
It makes sure you are sampeling the pages in the right order, important with text pages and a good habit.
Do you have a video where you explain this stitching style for the signatures?
👏👏👏👏👏
The hole punch box you used what is it called and we’re con I buy one.?
Очень подробно показывается все, и можно делать вместе с автором, не спеша. Очень круто!

Hell yeah, we're playing five finger filet right out the gate
I just relearned how to thread a needle
How do you determine how many holes to put?
Not a fan of asmr content but showing the process in its length better gets the idea across.
How to emboss learher?
Are you setting the sessions down in between two paper-wrapped bricks?
I am. Bricks are low-key my most-used bookbinding tools.

25 мин делать два действие , на какого дауна рассчитывается , забыл они есть
5 мин показывать как ты отверстия делаешь ?
Yea, I don't really get ASMR. I watched to the end so YouBoob doesn't get onery, but it was not what I was hoping for.
Why wouldn't you cut the holes with a saw of all the gatherings at once? ua-cam.com/video/RBd67qQy96k/v-deo.html
Because I'm not recessing the cords as his is in that video.
@@FourKeysBookArts Oh, okay. I think I understand. This is all new to me but it's fascinating none the less.
