    You have no idea how lovely and soothing this was.... I have spinal and hip arthritis, and a couple of days ago ended up having to change a tyre on my own. I'm now paying for it. I haven't slept in 2 nights because my hip is just aching, and I ran out of pain killers. This was something to take my mind off being uncomfortable, and fill in the time..... Lol I wish it was longer.

    Hello! Your channel has helped me so much in learning how to bookbind! This video is lovely! 😄
    I had a question about the sewing. I sewed all the pages of a book together using the method shown in the Medieval bookbinding video, and it holds, but the individual page sets (if that makes sense) are really loose. I’m wondering how I can try to tighten them to keep the pages more secure?
    Thank you! God bless you and your work! ✨

    • @FourKeysBookArts
      @FourKeysBookArts  Рік тому +4

      Ah yes, that was was sewn on cords, which can be tricky to get the tension right. It's important to make sure all of the stitches are pulled snug, but not too tight (which is hard to explain; like a nice hug rather than a bear-hug if that makes any sense). And when sewing on cords the thread should go all the way around the support cords and back into the signature through the same sewing hole. That gives maximum support. I hope that helps!

    I have a question: While was watching another channel of someone stitching the signatures, he prepped them by clamping them and using a hacksaw to score the signatures making the holes for threading easier; does this alternate way weaken the overall integrity of the signatures and what are the benefits of this technique, if any?

      @FourKeysBookArts hi, I'm pretty crafty but I a having the hardest time getting a 5 hole stitch correctly. I have watched some other people's videos on that but I am still confused because I can't sem to do the buttonhole stitch right. Do you have a video for a 5 stitch signatures? Most of the other ones just show 1 signature, which doesn't help at all.
