Just watched this video after taking a risk at Costco and grabbing a bottle of this for $99.99. Probably should have bought two! One question for the World’s Greatest Whiskey Taster: what numeric score would you assign to this one?
Just got a bottle. So good! Found it at Costco in SC. $109.99 ish… tons of tobacco for me. Love it.
The other day I went out to replace my Sagamore Double Oaked and it was all gone! So I decided I would finally grab the Calumet 15, but they were fresh out of that too!! So I grabbed the Calumet 14 and the neck pour was pretty ok for the price. I didn't feel like I found some hidden gem nor ripped off. It says it's a 108 buck bourbon and that's what it is. Now I do want to find the 15 because it seems that farm knows what it's doing. Thanks for the informative AND entertaining review(s).
My local Costco has the 15 now for a couple more weeks. Priced at 109. So they're still out there for sure.

I bought the 16 and then went to Costco and saw they have the 15. Haven't bought that one yet but probably will this weekend.

I just put side by side Sam Houston 14 vs Calumet Farm 15 and for me no big difference love both. still think dickel 15 way better value for similar profile.

One thing I have definitely learned from Matt is that if you aspire to be “The World’s Best Whsk(e)y Taster” then you need to describe yet to be discovered flavors like Australian Red Licorice and thimble berry. Repeat them loud and proud and everyone will just start nodding in agreement followed by “I can see that” 🙄. Loving your work Matt!

My issue with SH is the disparity of batches per state. With Calumet 15 u know the batch will be consistent. I wasn't a fan of 14 but most reviews of Cal 15 has been very good.

Calumet farms of any age does not compare to be same age of Sam Houston.
I “liked” the 14 year last year...not love at $115. For me it was a Cherry bomb, but the finish was very thin. Based on your description here, I think I’m a buyer this year...
How do you like this compared to the Doc Swensons 15?

Thimble berries are really a fruit. They can be found in the Keweenaw County in the northern most part of the upper peninsula of Michigan and on Isle Royale in Lake Superior.
Schnozzberries - I offer them to my kid every day. He looks at me like I'm insane.
Thimbleberrirs are amazing. They grow up in the mountains

Just got a couple of these. Can't agree more that it is schlamming delicious! Popped, poured and shared with a few enthusiasts at my bar and they all agreed! Had to have it shipped in but still got it MSRP. So glad I got 2 bottles! 1 will be put away for close friends around the fire. Cheers Matt!
