670th from July 68 to July 69. Wrecker operator for most of that time. If you broke down we picked you up. Many convoys back to back, short and long haul, and excitement on all of them. Always in the trail section we were always the last to get to our destination or RON site. Not much fun driving at night, going as fast as you could, dragging a truck and trailer who was out of gas or fuel. I will never forget my first recovery, that was retrieving a Truck and Trailer load of 105's, off a small bridge, in a mine field. I was one of the lucky guys that got 7 days of filling sandbags for not wearing a helmet. Provided by those who rode in wheel shocked M151A1 jeeps. Those roads had holes inside of holes, sliding in the mud during the monsoon rains on Ban Me Thuet mountain, or eating and snorting the agent orange dust during the dry season. I was there when we (mechanic's) lived on lizard hill then moved to the company area for what ever reason. Maybe so we could get more supervision and prevent the village girls from visiting. Great bunch of guys both in maintenance and drivers. I saw so much as the wrecker operator on those convoys, Ban Me Thuet, Baloc, Natrang, Phan Rang, Dalot, good and bad. Everyone remember the snakes, Rats, Body piles outside Villages, rubber tree plantations, Elephants, (Tiger on a pole, being carried by 6 VN)?. Biggest regret is I didn't take pictures. There was a driver during this time who was always taking pictures on the convoys. He must have quite a library of 670 Trans pics. I still have dreams of many of the events from my time in the 670th.
wonderful video and song. My uncle served as a truck driver at Cam Ranh Bay. Donald Pelkey..long shot but would be interested if anyone knew him or had a link to a vets page I could ask there as well. Never Forgotten!

Hi Bob, I have found 2 photos of myself in your slide show, it was great seeing your photos of all the guys again, in my 3min. movie you said you are in the last part let me know where you are in that movie, in my 3 min. movie I’m the guy standing by the boat marina sign. Leo (Guy) Carroll. Land O Lakes, Florida.
Thank you for sharing this video. I saw Joseph McGuckin in this video. He is the guy on the right sitting in a lawn chair. I was engaged to Joey and we were suppose to be married when he returned home but was KIA in 10/5/70 in Quang Ngai. Do you have anymore photos of him? Do you remember him and if so can you share with me what you remember? I have a photo of him with several of his friends and have been trying to locate them but haven't had any luck. Their names are Dave Louellen, Bruce Travis, Gary Hurley and Mike Holden. I would appreciate any information you can share with me. Thank you so very much for sharing this video on UA-cam. It means so very much.
I am the daughter of SSgt. Willie Van Vactor in the 670th. My dad now suffers from Parkinson's-Dementia in later stages. Can any of you remember him and help me to figure out what he is talking about. We have assessed he is in Vietnam and tells of a dog named "Pooch" or Pooh" can anybody help me? Was there a dog that you adopted over there?

@BOBOOSTER777 Hey Bob, lets get together for lunch..Guy from Land O Lakes..
I think you guys were the last normal "good people" generation. I'm 36 now and I'd be too mentally overrun to tough it out and be human about it.
