The Sad Reality About Xbox's VR Future #xbox #microsoft #VR
What would be the smartest thing for Microsoft to do right now imo is get into talks with Meta to get official Quest support on the Series. It would help boost Quest sales, allow Xbox to stay competitive in the VR space, all while reducing the costs and risks that are associated with it.
That would be dope. I would love to use my quest headset with the series X
@@NerfGamingNews Technically you already can in the form of Plutosphere! (Granted, it would be running in the edge browser and not natively, but this way you can have your Xbox act as your "gaming PC" in that sense!)
@@NerfGamingNews was thinking that if Microsoft waits too long to get in on VR, they may miss their chance to get a foothold like they did with Windows Phone. This way they can keep up with VR console games without losing out Sony.
yeah, though with the undeniable growing interest for VR, and it's inevitability as a "THE" game changer. I would not be surprised if they have repurposed and expanded their HoloLens team. Especially with AR and with apple jumping in , they may take Microsoft HoloLens lunch. They can't be in denial anymore about how big this will be
we need to fire phil spencer for this to even happen, hes the reason xbox isn't entering VR.
I'd honestly like to see them release a handheld.
Xbox handheld or an Xbox cloud handheld?
@@NerfGamingNews Both. I'm eyeballing the ROG Ally right now. It's some pretty pennies but it can play Game Pass PC natively as well as cloud.
They have.. Durface Duo
backbone? also handhelds suck
I’d like a vr headset for playing flight sim on my Xbox.
It sucks, but it makes sense. Facebook and Sony are the only two companies actively pushing for VR to be mainstream. And while they have seen their own success in one form or another, the fact that the most successful headset of all time (the Quest 2) has only sold 20 million units over its entire lifespan and has serious user retention issues is not good for long-term viability.
Do you think the retention issue is a content issue or something else?
@@NerfGamingNews I would say it's a mix between content issues, general consumer appeal, and the Quest system itself.
Facebook hasn't been investing nearly as much into its first party studios to produce content for them, and many games previously announced (like San Andreas VR) are still MIA.
Without a ton of compelling software and Facebook's lack of focus due to their metaverse stunt, the average consumer isn't regularly going back and buying games for it.
It has a niche community of diehards who'll play all the new games and try out all the new features (myself included), but their attempt at making the Quest 2 the "everything" headset seems to be alienating their original audience. Couple that with the fact that the Quest 2 OS can be super unpolished at times and you have a device that just kind of exists on the market at this point.
As much as I would like to see Xbox tackle VR as well, I could very easily see them fall into the same trap of focusing too little or too much on their VR side, alienating one or both of said audiences at the same time. Sony definitely had a big problem with that in the early years of the PSVR's lifespan.
With msfs 24 announced. Now is the time to get VR for xbox
The only company suitable for developing VR games is the only company not doing VR lol wild.
xbox vr along with kinect would be the perfect combo
oh that would have been so cool! Xbox could have created a really immersive experience with it.
Thats what I've been saying! Imagine full body tracking allowing one to move one's legs while playing in VR!
If they wait until there's a sizable market for them to enjoy...
the only markets will be those that already exist.
Kind of interesting prospect right? Xbox has open waters right now with VR, but if they wait too long they risk arriving when the market is already divided.
At this point it feels like WE are paying to beta test these products. I'm sure at some point "Ready Player One" will exist but maybe flush out the bugs and kinks before you release it. I'm willing to pay for a clunky product IF it has value. There isn't enough content or functionalities to these products at this point to justify paying $2k and up.
Focus on software. Develope practical content. Like vr theaters, floor seats to a bball game... etc
That's when ppl will flock to these products
As soon as Ready Player One is a reality goodbye real life. I may never leave!
@@NerfGamingNews straight up "inception" style. Like Leos wife.
Forza and Halo would go crazy in VR bro
I wanna play fallout 4 in fully vr
you forgot the biggest headset, Valve Index
If they could use their cloud tech to make a Vr cloud gaming headset that would be something. But that is something we are a little ways off from now
bruh look at stadia and that wasn't VR and it died within a matter of years. if cloud gaming can't handle current internet speed, then VR will absolutley not work with internet cloud gaming
Xbox cloud gaming is nice for trying a game out but it still doesn't feel good playing a flat shooter, let alone a VR one which needs 90 or 120 FPS minimum while rendering the game twice (one for each eye). This idea is still a loooong way off.
Waiting game for sure, Xbox players seem to stay behind everyone else, rather than being ahead.
edge browser plays VR just fine 😂
just wait, Nvidia will release something 10 years ahead of everything and it will be a cloud gaming PCVR android app that draws its power from Nvidia cloud. just like Geforce Now
xbox is going to be waiting for a while for the ratio of vr player sand pc players to be smaller.
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
Did you hear the news they are potentially rebranding stadia on the youtube platform.
Stadia already dead, googles is wasting there time trying to bring it back lol
Want 10+ million VR players? Quest 2 alone has sold 20 million units
I just dont like wearing a screan one in from my eyes
I think for gaming to be successful in future its needs to be on a blockchain where the fans control things. The suits always ruin everything.
I don't understand why Microsoft is turning their back on its devoted customers. I think Microsoft is doing itself a disfavor by flipping off it's devoted customers. Maybe it's time to sell my Xbox series x and buy the PlayStation 5 with a vr headset. Obviously Microsoft doesn't care about its customers like Sony does. Now I know why Sony is number one.
VR is still pretty niche, and a waste of resources.
Out of curiosity, have you played VR?
lol i hate it with you people who dislike VR, theres so many good games in VR. I wish to put all those people who think VR is niche, Into sword art online and leave them there for life.
VR is not niche, watch some VR News channels and you will discover that VR technology and VR gaming is constantly being improved. You have no idea how out of touch you are with the VR industry.
They'll just put an Xbox inside a VR headset and call it a day. It will revolutionize the industry.
I wonder if the zbox could run haly life alyx
That would be awesome to see!
totally possible 16GB is more than enough to run basic VR games
