  • "Get Together", also known as "Let's Get Together" and "Everybody Get Together", is a song by American rock band the Youngbloods, originally included in their 1967 debut album The Youngbloods.
The song is an appeal for peace and brotherhood, presenting the polarity of love versus fear, and the choice to be made between them. It is best remembered for the impassioned plea in the lines of its refrain ("Come on people now/Smile on your brother/Everybody get together/Try to love one another right now"), which is repeated several times in succession to bring the song to its conclusion.

One of the most beautiful songs of my entire lifetime even since I was a kid. The beauty of the guitar , the melody and the words, all of it.

Debbie Blaylock I was a few years older 12 years old when it came out. Before that when I was 9 years old I rode my 20” stingray bike down the complete length of the Lower Niagara RiverGorge from what us local’s called the Shit Factory (was a pump house to send sewage to the water treatment plant) to the far end at Devil’s Hole State Park where I carried my bike up the steep stairs and rode my bike down Lewiston Road to Main Street to Portage Road and Stopped swinging my bike around to see a guy sitting 🪑 on a chair playing guitar 🎸 singing at the exit of a car wash , he placed his guitar 🎸 on the chair 🪑 asking me to keep my eyes 👀 on it till he finished wiping the water off the Caddy pulling out of the car wash. He picked his guitar 🎸 back up playing and singing again. I asked if he was famous and he replied”I wish”
I replied you will be someday your real good, years later I went home from high school for lunch and on the 12 o’clock news was a report of Jim Croce died in a plane ✈️ crash and his picture on tv was that guy at the carwash few years back, well Working at the car wash blues , Jim sings about that carwash I saw him at. It’s Capital Cleaners rear building these days

This song was written by Dino Valenti, the vocal leader of Quicksilver, Dino never received a cent in royalties, as he had to sell his songs, pay legal fees, etc., as he was arrested for possession of marijuana, used the stage name Chet Powers, that was the madness of the sixties Big Dino who wrote the song "what about me"

A lot of people don't grasp that some lyrics of this song refers to Jesus returning to earth. "When the one that left us here returns for us at last".

Listen close to all lyrics . He is saying Jesus can make the mountains ring and angels cry.
He’s talking to and about Jesus and what Jesus says all through this song.❤
