What makes Kenichi so much more inspiring than a lot of Shonen heroes is that he wasn't a prodigy, nor does he have that natural raw talent that propels a lot of heroes forward. He gets by through pure effort!
Yeah unfortunately so many shonen try to portray their heroes like this but ultimately fail at this. Naruto for example was treated like an underdog but then we learn he has more chakra than anyone else, has the strongest tailed beast inside him, is the son of the Fourth Hokage, is a reincarnation of a god and was prophesied to change the Shinobi world.

Over the years I''ve been training Kyoushin Karate, Aikido, Capoeira, Silat, Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai, but toward the middle of last year I'd started to feel like I've lost my way and forgotten why I'm even doing this... and started getting lost in the 'spirit of competition' and chasing only how to score points instead of pursuing real 'Strength' and 'Discipline' and everything that I wanted from Martial Arts... Listening to this and rereading Kenichi made me remember when I first started training well over a decade ago, why I started training in the first place, and how far I've come. Thank you Matsuena Shun for giving us this amazing Manga, and thank you for making me the man I am today.
I feel you dude this anime is amazing I cried on the last episode it's showed kenichi smiling holding the ying yang badge then I realized how far kenichi has come I found out about this anime before the end of 2019 but I didn't know there were ovas I'm on episode 10 on ova I love the intro for it and everything I just don't want it to end again out of all the animes I've watched in my 13 year old body this was th e best yes even better than black clover and Dragon ball super because I watched all episodes of kenichi and there's like 50 episodes if I was watching Dragon ball super or black clover I would have gotten bored quick but I have to get back to watching the ovas 2020 dude out but I hope you keep looking up to this anime because I know i will ✌👍

No offense to people who liked them but its the truth. if u want some more great anime try Hajime no ippo which is a boxing anime and its awesome even though the first season is old. Also if u havnt allready heard of or seen One piece i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go and watch that. One piece is objectively one of the greatest shows of all time that will stick with you throughout life and its still going strong. Dont let the length deter you as it has lots of story

one of the few animes I've watched that actually thought me something I'd never forget. Even if your opponent has pure talent it doesn't mean its impossible to win. All it takes is a little determination and hard work.
My childhood! Here I come and enjoy you again. For real though, Kenchi is the only anime and manga that made me want to cry everytime I finish it or when I listen to the op. I just miss it so much! Hope we can see these beloved characters again in the new 008 manga

This was the first anime I ever watched, back when I was a little kid and I found it while flipping channels and it was on Funimation. Miss those days so much. One of my all time favorites.
Funimation Channel was such a blessing in the 2000's I think it was around 2009/10 that the station went off the air, that broke me entirely when I heard that the first time when I was 10/11.

For many years its been on the back of my mind, and for the life of me I couldn't remember what anime it was from, only that it was some sort of martial arts anime. So recently I was so fed up with not remembering that I went online and just typed "martial arts anime" into google and scrolled down every single one until I found this. At first (after listening to the first OP) I thought it wasn't the right one. Then I listened to this one, and a wave of memories came back all those years ago. Kenichi is by far my favorite anime. When I first started watching this I saw a little bit of my self in kenichi shirahama, the kid who got picked on and was weaker than the others around him. I've tried to workout and be better for myself but I always fall back into the same habits, but that doesn't mean I'll keep trying until I break those habits and better myself physically and mentally

@BluePlue Not necessarily, in the manga, Nijima, Sigfreid, and Thor(though it was a more circular version that Ma has) had used it later too. Admittedly though, Nijima is a master manipulator, tactician, and run away(er/ist? person that runs away).
IMMA START CRYING I LOVE THIS ANIME AND THE INTROS SO MUCH. It's been years since I first saw this and only about a year since I read the manga. If only the later arcs were animated.
