What was so crazy about the BK. it became gang related in my area. When you put those shoes on you were pretty much disrepecting the other gang... sound stupid now but it was serious back then.. Crazy times..
Yep: “Blood Killas”, in SoCal. Could not wear them, back then. Our HS and Knotts Berry Farm banned them, due to the violence around them. (Knotts had 2 dance clubs in the 80’s that we all hit up on the weekends)
Do I remember them? I still buy them. I'm looking at a beautiful pair of Concorde white/off-white - white/red right now. For Chinese made shoes, they are no better or worse than Nikes. I love them. I get compliments from people my age that get it.

You wear what you want to wear, nobody will ever judge you for that. Whether we are in our 40s,50s or 60s, nobody calls us old people out for our fashion sense. Hell, you can wear tan shorts, tank tops, black tube socks and brown sandles and no one will say a thing! Thanks for sharing your memories
In my rural high school, some preppy kids had them. I had a pair and was not impressed. They were hard, not too comfy, and i thought they were cheesy up there with La Gear. I was a Nike and Converse guy 😅
I remember British Knights and I'm only 24. Not the shoes, but the brand in general. I even had a pair of British Knights shoes back then. I know that the brand went bankrupt at some point of time, and it relaunched a few years ago. Their new shoe styles either don't interest me or they are resorting to ripoffs now, as I have seen a Converse ripoff and maybe even a Stan Smith ripoff. Cannot put my finger to why are they called British Knights when they are American. Even Wikipedia doesn't provide a story on that.

They were worried that Japanese sounding names wouldn't sell in the American market, so companies used generic sounding names like Kenwood. Panasonic was originally called Matsushita Electronics.

Panasonic was one of the brand names used by them and it was the most well-known, I guess; since later on the whole company was renamed Panasonic Corporation and many other brand names were renamed as Panasonic. I think only Technics survived. But yeah, there are many cases like the one you mentioned. For example: Häagen-Dazs have a European sounding name (I guess Swedish or Danish or something like that) while the brand is 100% American. Etc, etc. There is literally a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to this phenomenon.

Outstanding quality stuff that still holds it's own today, and of course the SL-1200 turntable is the most legendary turntable of all time for a reason. Technics even made a few synthesizers, all of which were pretty decent. Matsushita also owned the old TV badge Quasar back in the 90's.

Quasar is actually American, it was owned by Motorola from 1967 to 1974, then it was sold to Panasonic which manufactured Quasar products from '74 to 2005, then this brand also went bust. It was resurrected in 2013. Interesting stories, how companies come and go, then come back.

Nike was not shoes of -of 80's Gen.. Nike 70's generation. So Nike was the shoe it is today.. I am going to buy a pair of retro BK's to show young Gen what's up 😂❤ lol
That's what I did, but with the J1 Chicago. I bought the first retro in 1994 and had them a few weeks before i got rid. Most uncomfortable shoe I'd ever worn. Still to this day it's the most uncomfortable. That's why i refuse to buy them. I'll buy any other Jordan, but not them.
They are decently comfy, if you can get them on, but they also give us short kings an extra 2 inches

The boots was it in NJ in the early 80s. They were casual shoes before sneakers.
