So proud to be a Walt Disney fan since the age of 2, from the Pixar classics to growing up with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, along with the Muppets, Tangled, Princess and the Frog❤️💕So proud to be a fan my entire life along with SpongeBob SquarePants. Happy 100 year anniversary Disney❤️☺️
I love this! It's so incredible to see behind the scenes in a detailed, respectful way. I also miss the days of classic animation - computer is fun, but there's a whole different vibe and energy. I also love all the exhibitions and the way things are kept, and hope that more museums around the world might have the chance to partner on exhibitions. I can't make it to Shanghai or Tokyo, but the US is more doable. I also agree Disney+ should have more content like this. Some of the documentary-type things are interesting, but others (like the behind-the-rides one) feel very much geared toward kids, with hokey voiceovers and less detail than fan youtube channels.
when I use studying to be an architect ... it was such a challenge for me to get the cuts right on foam core ... I was so drawn to that model and then when it cut to when Walt was showing off the model of Disneyland it warmed my heart ... how cool to see those drawings frame by frame today hit different ... ty for sharing
Fascinating and inspiring, thanks for creating an insightful piece on the legacy and the people caring for it. The preservation in physical and digital form looks.superb. I could easily watch a weekly show of behind the scenes stuff like this, all year round!
While I absolutely loved both parts 1 and 2 and almost brought a tear to my eye for nostalgic reasons, it also makes me sad that this style of animation is now pretty much relegated to the archives and vaults. It's sad that the computer generated behemoth has basically retired the pen/pencil to paper, paint to cell animation. While I like the computer Disney/Pixar films, in my opinion, it pales in comparison to the far superior, human physical process. While it warms my heart to see tribute being paid to everything that came before, it just makes me feel that my own thoughts and feelings on the subject belongs in the vault with all the incredibly amazing art itself.
They should make an ongoing series "Art From The ARL" on Disney+ , where they just show the scanned animation pencil tests and concept art, layout art, BG art from the various shorts and features. I would definitely re-subscribe to Disney+ (I let mine lapse) if they had serious, Walt Disney-centric material like this on the service.
Why is preserving this important? Why was it important for Jacques Jaujard to evacuate the Louvre at the start of WWII? To preserve the cultural heritage of humanity.
This is great but the host really dated himself when he said May Comes any. I think they have been out of business for at least 20 years. Maybe longer. They were bought by Macy’s a looooong time ago.
I wish Disney+ had more shows with this kind of content.
Totally agree. But I'm also grateful we got these two videos!
Prop Culture needs a second season
I agree

The art of Animation is something spectacular. Imagine what you wish and then make it all happen
I saw it in the Wallace Collection!
Highlight for me (I studied and worked as a 2D animator) was the original Cinderella dress transformation frames

Those aren’t animators drawings shown. They were clean-up’s drawings. The only ruff animators drawings were 2 of Glenn’s.
