I used to HATE history. I used to think like many young kids, "Who cares?" But I read my first historical novel "Blood on the River" and fell in love with it. So I started reading many more historical novels and although many teens my age think I'm strange, it's a whole new world that they're missing out.
I have also realised that my favorit genre is historical fiction, for some odd reason I have come to love the 1920s. Eowyn Ivey's The Snow Child is a favorit.
Check out Allison Weir's new fiction series. A book foe each of Henry VIII's wives feom their perspective. Allison has some brilliant non- fiction books. Also Tracey Borman is good - although it is mainly non-fiction, but very readable. X
I’m wondering if you have to read Philippa’s books in order or if you can just pick up the one you’re interested in? I’m looking for some good books about Mary Queen of Scots. I am obsessed with Reign.
They're all written so they can be read as standalones, but you'll just have a greater understanding of all the characters/historical figures if you've read the other books in the series. Hope that helps! :)
