Prayer really works. I prayed each day that God would help me desire and hunger for His Word instead of wanting to reach for my phone & He heard my prayers. He made me desire to read His Word.
Smartphones and social media are designed to steal our time from us. Many people work every day on making it even more attractive and convenient. That's a huge business and we are their main source of profit as consumers. So of course it is very hard to deal with this addiction when it's designed to make people addicts. But we must not forget that the life outside this small screen is too short and too beautiful to waste it like that. I totally support you on this challenge, Ash ❤
My challenge then was to put the phone down and pick up the Bible. I substituted social media with Christian based content on UA-cam to help with Bible studies etc (which is how I found your channel btw) 🤗🤗 Proverbs 4:23 literally helped me with my fast.
I CAN'T get off the internet (Facebook, yes, but not the internet altogether). Even though I have an NLT physical Bible, I do 100% of my reading on Bible Gateway so I can read the "Easy to Read" version I like substituting social media with Christian-based content though (which I do by watching Christian movies and the Gaithers almost every night). Not sure I can do it completely though since I love my 50's-70's sitcoms and gameshow too much (I wish rI didn't, but I KNOW I watch UA-cam over half of the day). But still I'd like to see how far I can with that for the month of January
I also struggle with phone addiction/UA-cam addiction and God has been calling me to cut my phone usage by 75% . I'm so grateful that God led me to this video
I have phone addiction and tv addiction too, I can’t fall asleep without my tv being on. It’s mostly because I fear the dark and the tv brings me comfort when I hear other peoples voices in the background.
I have a flip phone and have been using it since July. I love it a ton and it is much better than having a smart phone. The distractions were terrible.
People everywhere are waking up to their phone addiction. I have not owned a social media account in 10 years. I still use phone too much by obsessively checking for fresh UA-cam uploads and emails. I also find myself reading Reddit and news stories too much. So yes, we all have differing levels of phone addiction we need to be aware of and work to resist! I am proud of you for challenging yourself to stop these behaviors, as they do keep us from enjoying life to its fullest.
I don't have a phone addiction thank the Lord. In fact I don't like talking on the phone or playing on it at all. I have a simple flip phone and it's mostly for emergencies. I still have a land line. Yes I know I'm living in the dark ages but I don't care. I can't understand why people want to stay on their phones so much. You're right Ashley...it's an IDOL! My cousins are the same way....they rarely get on their phones. I'm visiting them until the 29th and it does me good to see how they and their grown kids handle their phones. We could all take lessons from them!
I absolutely agree that society as a whole has become too dependent on our devices. I started by getting rid of all social media (except for UA-cam). I would eventually like to switch to a “dumb phone” option.
Thank you for this! I am replacing my phone/screen time with Bible time by carrying a pocket Bible with me instead of my phone. I pray God will break the chain of excessive and compulsive phone use from my life so I can have more peace!
Ashley, this post was so timely. I was preparing to do a social media detox in January. The Holy Spirit has been convicting me about the useless time I spend on Instagram instead with the Lord. I just bought your social media detox download and will be preparing my heart to seek the Lord more than social media.
So glad that you decided to do this video because, a lot of people do have this problem and it's awesome to be able to reach out and pray for each other and also to look for other ways to spend our time besides on the phone... A few of those things that you mentioned earlier, was going to a physical book, using our physical bibles, writing down the recipes or having magazines! Self will, is not enough because of the habits that we have established! Romans chapter 7 and 8
@@KristaBrewer-rq7mo I was referring to the platforms where people post the good part about their lives, and even the negativity that surrounds their post. I was also referring to scrolling down my timeline all day from those platforms. This was for me . I have a 4yr old beautiful wildflower .. I realize I have the idle of phone too, my daughter has been asking me to get off phone and I have but it was a wake up and I've been praying to God to break off what isn't for me and this video is what I find. 😳 God speaking to me
I’ve been debating if I should get rid of my iPhone. I didn’t realize I am not the only one feeling like this. Thank you for sharing Ashley. You’re so young and wise.
The way God literally spoke to me with seeing this video. I asked God for a confirmation that deleting my account was the right thing to do and I saw this in my subscriptions. I literally was thinking the same thing: I need to get away from social media for myself and my future family I hope to build one day. I don’t want my children to see their mom immersed behind a phone every day. I want to build such a strong relationship with Jesus and be in the real world with the people I hold close to my heart and get away from all the noise that social media brings. I’ve deleted it all and I’m not looking back!
I love this video!! The lord has been dealing with this same thing!! This has been a GOD WORD!! I’m 62 and I find myself so addicted to my life!! Lord help me!! I’m going to do this detox with you!!! Thank you!!
Hey I just was wondering, I purchase you detox 30 day challenge! Is this an actual book or is it a download? I don’t have any information in my email only the receipt where I purchased the material!!
So true; today is my last day of i guess free range with my phone. I plan to spend way less time with this device and more time with my family. So thankful God had you post this in this depth
I’m starting by deleting all social media apps off my phone including Pinterest and only having necessary apps on my phone to cut down on not just social media but also the constant stimulation of email notifications and other background notifications. Putting a book and a journal in my main spaces where I’d usually scroll: like kitchen, living room , bathroom, bedroom.
Im only 39 seconds into the video and i have to say that i am with you! Im 23 and have wanted a flip phone for the last few years now, but have seriously been struggling with that decision since i LOVE me some video chat, especially with my fiance🤣 and my fancy phone camera since im an "amateur photographer"(even tho i have a camera). I still want the simplicity of a flip phone and will still consider getting one for the future. I think im gonna test it out for 30 days like you and see how i feel, maybe even 60 days☺️. Im excited to live a simpler life in every way( i want to be a farm girl). Im happy for you Ashley. Thank you for sharing your revelation ❤
Yes girl, I had these exact same thoughts after having my baby girl. And my family really tried to get upset with me for not keeping my phone near because how they felt like I was being distant and I felt guilty but at the same time, close family can try to take initiative to come visit especially when you just had the baby and you're trying to give majority of your attention to your baby. It can be so complex but you are so on point, thank you for this video!! 🙏🏼❤
I’ve been convicted about the same thing, I’m pregnant with my 3rd in under 3 years & have used social media to escape my reality into a false one even though mine is such a blessing
I love this video ash! Thank you Jesus! I usually take time off my phone for a couple of days in the new year\ new month! Like now! I have a passion about this subject! Before I used to be addicted a lot on my phone but now since I fast etc with the scriptures its a lot better!
Love this! I feel like for me, social media is a on and off Journey. When I catch myself scrolling too much I delete the app, but then I also re download it again, take small breaks from it sometimes but then at times I do over due it a little 😢
I really don’t do social media but UA-cam certainly has taken a ton of my time. Reflecting back on 2024, I spent significantly more time in UA-cam than quiet time with God. It’s humbling to admit and I need to do better next year.
I'm doing this. I'm starting off with no phone after 7pm. I miss just going to sleep or reading a book before sleeping. I've been wanting to do this for a long time and you helped get me going. Thanks so much!

I quit all social media except UA-cam and I did really good for a while only going on UA-cam at certain times but now I’m on it a lot again. I think I struggle here because my kids both have hard behaviour issues, my husband is disconnected and doesn’t help me out much. I’m pretty much at home 24/7 I don’t have any friends at the moment so I fill the void with watching UA-cam. Instead of filling it with God, with hobbies that I enjoy, reading a good book etc.. Kudos to you for being so vulnerable posting this! I so feel you on this! I deleted all social media on December 22 and it’s been such a breath of fresh air! I genuinely don’t know if I’ll download again. I miss my recipes on TT too though! I thought about getting a flip phone and keeping my iPhone for business social media only but hate the thought of continuing to pay for an iPhone that I don’t use 😭
I wanna suggest getting an iPad possibly, that way it’s something that is technilogical, and it’s not small like a phone, it takes more work to hold it, have Johnny hold your iPhone, that way when your family or work needs you and you’re on the go you have it but don’t have DIRECT access to it, it’s an option!
To my understanding with social media every person one way or the other we have idol's TV,or our phone.. Ashley I think the best way is to pray or fast about it.i also try my best to stay away but God he is the only one who can help us..
God has put this on my heart months ago. Like summer time. And I have been desperately trying to put down the phone. It’s so hard because it’s all I’ve ever known. But I see it making my life worse. I want to be able to stop. My husband is military so we are on some base in the middle of nowhere and it’s extremely isolating. Zero family and friends. So I have gone to my phone for that. But my child doesn’t deserve that. I started writing scripture and studying it every morning and that was an hour or so less on my phone. But I always go back to watching UA-cam. I love to read books but my phone is too hard to put down some nights so I waste time on it. I hate that feeling of NEEDING to scroll or look things up. Online shopping as well. I’m just so over it. I might get a flip phone.
To me i personally dont think its the phone thats addicting it's the apps that are addicting. If you takw away the Facebook, twitter, youtube etc apps that should solve the problem
This has been a conviction of mine for a longgg time. I absolutely have a phone and UA-cam addiction and I've seen the negative affects of it. What I started doing this week is creating specific playlists on UA-cam that I can watch so I don't deviate to shorts and other stuff. It's a great plan, but I know this is going to ask me to die daily because it is something I've been doing for so long. Something I'd love to do is read more! Does anyone have book recommendations? Specifically Christian based or realistic fiction books. My goal is to also become a better writer so I may use my time away from UA-cam to practice writing again.
Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss. This is my all time favorite book, a Christian girl growing in her faith from age 16 to marriage and children, highly recommend.
For Christian fiction books, I’ve been loving Melissa Tagg books lately (specifically her Muir Harbor series). Tessa Afshar’s books are also really good!
The simplest thing to do is to find a "PURPOSE" in your life where you can creatively and passionately engage daily. Then distractions don't bother you - phone and social media being the topmost among all distractions!! All other things like family etc. happen as part of life, including God as sidekick..😂 Think of a doctor busy with the medical practice. Do they have time to waste on phone. Nope. This method always works and is the sure shot way to end all addictions!! 😊🙏
I read a great book called Digital Minalism by Cal Newport. Changed my use of digital media. It's wonderful you realize how this will affect your child. These devices and apps are designed to be addictive. You will be shocked how your baby will be drawn to it. I'm curious if you could rely on a laptop versus your iPhone for work? Great topic!
I am not sure how to do quiet time without my phone...? Please share some advice. I listen to worship music on it and follow devotionals. How do I change that?
Why did you start today (DECEMBER 26); If I had your workbook, I'd start the 30-day detox Jan 1 (or at least try to). I don't have credit cards for the internet (I'm sure many people don't), but it sounds like it might be a good idea if I had a book...... or at least something to go by on your page. Is there any way you can put it up or put up a link or something of that nature? Also, I don't have a phone, but I'm on UA-cam ALL the time. I actually NEED UA-cam for the Gaither's (which I watch almost every night), but I DO watch an AWFUL lot of 50's-70's shows.
What camera do you use please for video recording. I want to give up my smart phone but I’m afraid of not being able to take photos of my children and videos 😢
Ive been trying to quit this addiction. Ive gotten off all socia media but quickly got hooked on UA-cam so im not sure if i should just delete the app all altogether or just limit for christian content only ??? Any advice prayers are also really needed
That’s a good question. UA-cam can be addicting for me too. But I also enjoy a lot of content on UA-cam and that is not a bad thing. Give yourself a screen limit time for you too. Maybe 30 minutes a day? Or whatever is best for you.
You might want to change the description below, it says download your free workbook, but when you click you have to pay. Understandable, you work hard for it, but please don't write free if indeed it is not. Very confusing
What are some tips for someone that has counseling online, pays bills online, and some friends that all the contact I have right now is on Facebook? I go on the internet with good intentions and somehow end up scrolling UA-cam or Facebook. Sometimes I have a legitimate question for google and get "pulled away" by some notification; Someone could've sent me a video( which is mostly what happens.) and I go off hours later not realizing how much time has been wasted.
I scroll UA-cam even though it’s looking at Christian content I have found it’s distracting me away from reading the Bible for myself. Like you Ashley I’m trying to wing myself off. The devil knows his time is short and his tactic is distractions, anything that will take our attention away from THE LORD in these last days, is not from THE LORD, but the devil. The devil will do anything in these last days to draw us away from a personal relationship with THE LORD JESUS.
30 days??? You must be joking! A real media detox must be between 60 and 90 days to be effective and to cut the addiction. Come on, do it properly or don't do it at all.
Hey 😊. I purchased the social media detox journal and workbook and my download is not working. I’ve tried reaching out through email and Facebook messenger and haven’t heard anything. Not sure of the best way to reach you to get some help. Let me know. Thanks ❤

Those apps are very addictive!
Good plan! I don’t read many fiction books so I can’t help you with that. But does anyone else have any good fiction? Books can recommend below? ⬇️
@@coffeeandbibletime Doesn't just have to be fiction, but also Christian books!
Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss. This is my all time favorite book, a Christian girl growing in her faith from age 16 to marriage and children, highly recommend.
@@Readinforever Thank you!
I am so in!!
Hi all lovely friends how are you merry Christmas to you and I enjoy your channel and you all amazing supporter
Great message !! What Will We Let Go Of ?? God Bless~
The Holy Spirit has been convicting me about this for some time now.
Such a good and timely vid Ashley! Your song at the end of the video, what is it? I’ve been trying to find it haha
I have the same exact phone as me! Lol, but it is due to complex socioeconomic reasons
I enjoy the flip phone because of its simplicity. Do you like it? :)❤️
I got rid of facebook and instagram. Im checking my phone almost never. Social media needed to go.
So good to hear! Thanks for sharing friend!
So if we ween off the iPhone and get a flip what can you do with the flip, just make calls correct? I would love to get away from the iPhone.
Yeah - just calls on the flip phone and a little bit of text messaging too!
I know I struggle this is timely and my goal for 2025!
Pray that my mom understand the truth about secular music, and pray for her to understand the truth about cursed objects. Please and thank you.
You said, "Put the kids to bed"....foreshadowing, I see 😊😊😊
1 Peter 5:9-11 ❤
My pastor calls our phones a digital babylon
Question: how did you record video in your car (or anywhere) if you dont use your phone?
As always, thank you for sharing your heart.
I'm sure she has a professional camera
You might want to change the description below, it says download your free workbook, but when you click you have to pay. Understandable, you work hard for it, but please don't write free if indeed it is not. Very confusing
Hello! Sorry for that mistake! We did fix the description! Thank you! 😊
You can set time limits on certain apps. Hope that helps.
🙌🙌🙌
🙏🙏🙏
Can you FaceTime on your computer?
Yes! Good idea!
Is there a reason it says free and then after I click it’s $11.99?
:( I just now seen that myself)
So sorry for that! That was our mistake that is fixed now. It is $11.99 on our website. Thanks so much for your patience and grace! ❤️
Do a women of the bible study
❤❤❤
And I have discovered that there are no phone manners
Vb🎉
Thanks ❤
@@chelsiterry804 hello! I’m so sorry about that! Did you reach out to info@coffeeandbibletime.com ? We will send it to you ASAP!! You can also email Ashley.armijo@coffeeandbibletime.com and I can personally send it over!
@ hey girl! No worries at all. That is the email I used but I’ll resend it to your email as well. Thank you 😊
Ive been watching your channel since 2015. Ive seen you both grow and I’ve grown with ya’ll. I went through college, single hood, hardships, engagement, marriage with ya’ll and (one day) motherhood 🥲 I just want to say thank you 🖤 your channel has been hopeful, encouraging, helpful, a place of rest and a place where I could find godly advice from my sisters in the Lord. Thank you to all 3 of you. Please dont ever stop making content 🖤
Also im getting a flip phone too! 🥰 God bless you guys!
