Absolute LEGEND of a man, Ted! As I've said before, just can't help but smile watching your creations. From a not-so-cool 47 year old, you're 100% the coolest 51 year old around. Keep it going my man 💪🏻
I love your term “flying camera” vs drone. Really gets to the root of differentiating a tool for creating art vs. a “gadget”.
Any day that begins with an authentic Ted Talk is a good day, thx Bro.
He needs to integrate the Kor N got the life instrumental into that walking down the tracks scene would be badAz
The ending is epic! You are the most inspirational UA-camr. The “T-Shirt”, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. Focus on lighting and composition. Time of day, location, subject. Just feeding back what I learn from you. Do Don’t Dream
Thank you!
Man...your are something special. Not only drones and cinematograhy, but also a great deal of life wisdom!
I totally agree with the excitement of discovering this. I have my drone (Air 2S) in my camera box so to speak, but I've always been trying to capture shots from the sky of scenery. Seeing how putting myself in the shot is kind of like framing a picture with branches in the foreground to add depth. It's a fundamental. And the whole notion of being able to put the camera anywhere I had been missing that aha moment. The comment that someone said it's just a drone, obviously doesn't get photography. Being able to put the camera anywhere at any angle and have it follow you. I've known that it can do this but I never realized that putting myself in the picture is going to add a dramatic effect. Haven't been this excited about a UA-cam video for a long time.
I love the ride you take us on in all of your videos, Ted. Thank you so much for bringing us along. Each creation strays within it from one path to another, and I don't know how you do it but it all fits together somehow, no matter how far apart the paths may become. You teach a lot through your messages and I think your excitement is an important part of it. //Tom
Agree. Every landscape or other scenic shot is made more interesting with a human subject and the most available human subject is usually yourself. And yes, a video that tells a story is better than one that is pointless. Good one
Charles I really appreciate you watching and commenting. I assume you replaced your Mini 3 after the crash/fly away?
@@TedNemeth Happy ending. The crash was not fatal. In fact, miraculously, my Mini 3 suffered barely a scratch and I was able to take off and fly immediately (after getting out of downtown Chicago)
I love that you’re excited! Great job!
Such a great message in well made video... just awesome!
ah man i appreciate it. I enjoyed making this episode. Thanks for letting me know u enjoyed it
Thank you Ted, always nice to watch
Thanks for bringing so much joy to this. It's contagious.
Love your enthusiasm, it’s truly infectious 🙌🏼
I love these videos. Thanks Ted.
❤ The love for what you do shines in all your videos. It helps me fully understand the subject. Thank you for your amazing content.
Ted, another great cinematography tip! I see your UA-cam channel growing and I'm so happy for you. You deserve to be more and more successful! Keep it up!
Love your mentality and approach in this video. Very admirable.
Love your originality, unique UA-cam channel! It's always a pleasure to watch you and also learn something new!
hey thanks i appreciate it. your hiking episodes are great. I only watched 2 so far, but wow that is a LOT of editing. You live in such a beautiful part of our amazing country. Need to spend more time down there. Be safe and welcome aboard sir.
Look at you, Ted! I miss a few months and you're blowing up on the subs. Great job, man! It's no doubt in part due to your happy, creative, inspired mind and wonderful attitude. Great vid good sir!
Awesome video as usual. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Really awesome episode, Ted! 🤩I rarely film myself, but it's a genius idea for the cinematography exercise ⭐
I play similar tricks with the light as you did with the shadows - returning again and again to some locations, seeking the great light.
You're truly an artist... 👨🏻🎨⭐
love your vids ted keep em a comin
Roger I truly do appreciate your support my friend. Thank you for watching & always leaving kind words.
Got my DJI mini 3 a few months ago. Absolutely love it. Your videos are amazing. I love the passion you have for photography. 🇨🇦👍
3rd video of yours I watched ever, and just started within this hour.
I think you just liberated me from overanalyzing hell with the drone.
I firmly believe "It's the driver, not the car"!
I feel the same way about computers, creative arts, and most other things!
Everyone who gets lost in technical stuff, never experience or create properly.
This is about making photo/video scenes.
The settings should never get in the way of the process!
yes! you said it perfectly. Theres so many dynamics with a flying camera that a static camera on a tripod just doesn’t have. Thanks for watching my friend.
Awesome video! I love your joyful enthusiasm! It makes your film fun to watch and super informative. 😎
Dude, you are so relaxing to watch and I am here just to hear you talk and it gives me peace.
@@TedNemeth I was born there but been here in the states since 02. Would love to catch up. Again thanks for all your contents!
Great video, and I will try some of the techniques you have suggested. You must be the happiest photographer I’ve ever seen on YT. Well done! 😊
Thanks sir for sharing.
Great video Ted. We were just discussing the importance of the time of day and lighting last night and I couldn't agree with you more. It makes all the difference in the world. As far as the rude comment goes, that person has never experienced the feeling of joy we get while flying. It's a feeling not everyone has experienced or understands. Thanks so much for sharing. I woke up to a notification that you released a new video and that made my morning more than my cup of coffee and morning reflection. I appreciate your passion.
Truly you have grown into one of the best drone channels Ted! Always inspirational and creative! Peace! 👍👍
Right on! thank you for the kind support good sir. Hey I just watched your RELAX episode from several weeks ago. Stunning footage mate.
Wow, another hit out of the park.
Enjoy your videos and the way you do it! Keep on going! Thank you, Ted
thank you! Man I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a kind word of support. Is your first name Pavel?
I loved your latest episode. Your passion for the outdoors is clear.
@@TedNemeth yes, I’m Pavel. Great talking to you and being in touch. Your drone passion inspires me to fly fine my mini 2.
Always inspiring
Ted, I love your insights and attitude. I have learned more about the WHY of drones from your channel than all the HOW of drones on the others. Keep going😉👍
Toby I really appreciate it man. You said it well. A few months ago I made a conscious decision to make a goal of my editing to get people to feel something, not just learn something. ChatGPT can teach anything you need. But ChatGPT can’t (yet) get people to feel emotions. So I made that a goal. And you confirmed it. I appreciate it. Reminds me of that amazing Maya Angelou quote: “I've learned that people will forget what you said, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Your videos are great Ted 👍👍
Love this! I've been filming myself as the subject a lot more with my drone and I'm loving the results so far.
Time to get out and create more!
brother I am a beginer and I am so happy that I found your channel!!!! YOU ARE KING
Great!!! I love your lessons so much
hey I’m super grateful for your support my friend. Glad to hear my playful little tutorials are helpful. Please let me know if there’s a specific topic you would like me to cover.
Love your videos man!! You inspire me a lot to go out and use my Mini3 Vs my FPV drones . I started this hobby 10 years ago and came across your channel it gave me inspiration to keep making content. Next step is to film myself!!!!!!!!❤❤❤
Charlie what a great comment man. Thank you. Dude you are an ORIGINAL drone gangster. Very cool. Loved your latest vid.
I LOVE this video!!!
That episode is soooo good. Very insightful Ted. You've really upped the game with your editing. Colours, cinematic bars, quick zoom in's. Brilliant. Loved the colours and shadows on the train tracks and that portrait silhouette at the start is awesome. Great ideas. ❤
i really appreciate having you in the gang here. Thanks for the support. Love your new promo bumper.
@@TedNemeth Thanks Boss. I sh1t you not, Ive watched this episode 5 times now. Really resonated with me
Hey Ted! Nice one, you continue to inspire us.
You've opened even more possibilities for my filming. I'll have to get some fancy clothes now!
ok...time to learn new trick....let's do itttttttttttttttttttttttttttt...............and honestly i love every second of the shooting style in this session...still needs tons of learning
A camera you can put anywhere in the 3D space... The perfect definition of a drone... Thank you for this video... 👍👍😉
Serge I truly appreciate your kind comments and being part of the community here. Thank you buddy.
ok...time to learn new trick....let's do itttttttttttttttttttttttttttt............... and honestly i love every second of the shooting style in this session...still needs tons of learning for me
Hi 🙋♂ you are so right ... a drone can do more than just film landscapes. 👍🎥🙋♂
We love you man! 😍
Charlie I really do appreciate your support. You’ve left a few very kind messages on my video. I bow to your good graces sir.
Wow that's really cool and awesome
Your goofy and fun attitude is what made me come back again and again after l found your first video. I am 62 years old, and l love golf, and l love riding my motorcycle, and l really enjoy flying my drone. I am like you in that way that l am not shy letting the boy in me come out to play when l am having fun. It makes things so much more fun, and l have often noticed on my children and friends that my childish happiness or enjoyment is more often contagious than not 😂 Keep up the good work, and please don't change 😀
how did i miss this?!?! you posted it last month. Man I am SUPER grateful for your kind words here. When I hit 50 years old is when I realized “playful” is actually a foundational trait to many aspects of life. I started noticing many HIGHLY accomplished people crediting “playfulness” as a major contributor to their progress in life. It cultivates curiosity, diminishes fear of failure & judgement by others.
The great indomitable Richard Feynman is probably the best example. Many say he was the smartest person to ever live with the greatest breadth of discoveries. His practical jokes are legendary. Always playful & comedic.
@TedNemeth your followers have more than trippled in the last few months, so l understand if you don't notice - or if you are not able to answer every comment you get. I hope your group of followers will continue to grow, even though that means you won't answer my every comment 😅 You really deserve it 😀
Right on, Ted! Dig the double strokes. Let your flying and photography inform your playing and you'll be composing music too.
Dude, I watched ONE of your vids and I am TOTALLY a fan of yours while passing a link to your site whenever I can. Keep truckin'!!!
Willie man I really appreciate it my RC friend. Wow you love all things radio controlled. I checked out your channel. Very cool. I used to race RC cars competitively. Man I miss it. Welcome aboard Willie.
@@TedNemeth Yeah, Ted, when I got back into the hobby after closing my photography studio and moving to GA I got with a bunch of guys who were doing it all, so I joined the party. I didn't know they had RC cars competition (sounds serious!!)
Thanks for sharing, buddy. 😁👍✌️🚶🤗🏞️🌅🌄🎼
I really enjoy your videos. I like the way you share your unique perspective on things The way your videos flow calm my mind.
what a super cool compliment. I truly appreciate it. I’m trying to my my playful episodes into a bit more than just a tutorial.
@@TedNemeth I completely understand what you mean. I just started doing the same with my videos.
I try to Inspire people with something I can do and then show them how to do it.
Keep up the good work! Maybe we can collaborate someday down the road!
I see the whole picture kinda wish I saw this earlier now I’ll plan my shots instead of flying aimlessly. Nice 👍🏼
My new favorite drone related channel. Looking forward to catching up.
Mark what an amazing compliment. I needed to hear that today actually.
Welcome aboard to our FLYING CAMERA CREW!
Thank you and you couldn't be more right about the whole exposure thing. On normal DSLR/Mirrorless cameras, it makes a lot of sense to go full manual, but on the drones, a different story. The seed was already planted for me with another good channel - Camera Conspiracies, but you drove the point home. I noticed he cared very little if he broke that sacred 180-degree shutter rule with his action cams, yet motion blur was essentially a non-issue.
My mini 2 sat on a shelf for a year while I researched a bunch of useless crap. It's so liberating now to not be focused on the latest gear and technical stuff and just focus on cinematic content.@@TedNemeth
Thank you Ted for your fun and inspiring guidance and tips. What editing software might you recommend?
hey David! Thank you for watching and the kind words of support. I do ally my video editing on LUMAFUSION. I absolutely love it.
What are you currently using?
Mate, great content and great communicator, congrats from Spain!
Spain. Very cool. I’m VERY excited to travel your country. Thank you for watching my flying filmmaker friend. Hello from New York (for now.)
It's very useful information. Thanks for sharing a nice video, my friend.🙂
Enjoy India Ted, I just discovered your channel and it’s big fun!!. Looking forward to your next posts.
Simple advice, not full of sponsors.. love it.
thank you sir! Loved your winery episode. Man I really need to explore that part of our amazing country. Hey what’s your first name? Welcome aboard sir.
@@TedNemeth They call me Leo :D there are a couple of nice wineries in this area with some different feels than in other parts of the US (and yes from coast to coast this country is varied, beautiful, and can feel like different countries wrapped up into one)
Thanks for reminding me to do more then just landscape. Even if I'm not sure I'm that creative! Well explained!!!
yeah my LI brother! Hey let’s schedule a summer drone meetup with all our Suffolk & Nassau members.
@@TedNemeth I'm sure we can find somewhere on the great south bay. I haven't posted my latest (not Nemeth quality-LOl) video from Lands End West Sayville. Another nice place in Babylon is the Piermont. Nice marines there as well. Let's show those guys in Florida we can do a meet up. What's your thoughts.
Wow! Pure unadulterated fun. Thanks for sharing.
ohh man what a fantastic kind supportive comment. I needed to hear that today. Truly thank you my friend.
and, Ted, watching this clip of yours reminded me of what (I believe) a very wise individual told me back in 1988 "Happiness is a choice, not a result!" I want to get that emblazoned on a T-Shirt for my next travel adventure methinks. And I'm also oddly reminded of something my grandma would say "Be likened unto a kettle - whistling while up to your neck in hot water". Just love your creative insights and that wonderful enthusiasm. There are a lot of naysayers in this world and a ton of people jealous of others talents. Best not allow them to bring us down, rather feel compassion for their sad plight. Namaste.@@TedNemeth
I love at the 6:14 minute mark where the person is walking by as your taking off your glasses the camera goes out of focus. Its like our vision is distorting in sync with you. If this was'nt done on purpose then its a fantastic "Happy Accident" as Bob Ross would say lol
that was a happy accident. and i love that you quoted Bob Ross. do you know how MASSIVELY popular he has become lately? He’s exploding. Its wild. He truly was the best storyteller and presenter. Last week i was watching an episode by one of the best UA-cam consultants….and he said….WATCH BOB ROSS episodes and learn. He is a master.
I'm not sure what this "tutorial" was about. But I loved it :)
That is the game mate I spend hrs waitin for the day to turn the light on hoping the guys line up the action and shoot and re shoot for that 3 second glimmer of awsome ahhh it’s gold cost only time and patience but tickles my brain parts just perfectly apon review, excellent vid my man hope your well cheers
chasing light. That’s all it is in the end. I like the cool reductionist view I heard someone describe it. Trent Park I think. The master.
Here’s another great video from Ted! And at the very end of it is my dream city of Kathmandu!
hey buddy. thank you for watching my friend. Kathmandu is pretty incredible. It’s possibly the ugliest city I’ve ever seen…..but the Nepalese people are undoubtably the nicest people in the world.
That country has MANY challenges. Those people have it TOUGH.
I think the human spirit needs some challenges to bring out it’s best.
It seems some people who have led a completely frictionless easy life….seem to not have a strong rudder in life.
Great video Ted - short, good message, and inspiring. Quick question though. How do you include the movie clip with without getting a copyright strike? Do you select "upload under creative commons license" when you're holding the video, it so you just do it normally? Is it the length of the clip the matters? Thanks!
Haha - who gets mad about someone else being happy and excited. I love it - keep the boil rolling man, I'm a big fan 👍
hey mate. thanks for watching. i truly appreciate it. You use a drone for your downhill biking?
@@TedNemeth Not so much - lots of tree cover in New Zealand and the tracking isn't that accurate (Air2 S) - my friend has a Skydio though and that thing is amazing for tracking. I mainly do landscape photography but you're convincing me I need to go have some fun with videography too.
If the film and tv industry were aware of how creative and stunning your drone shots are, surely you would be offered work as a consultant, or maybe as a cool ambassador for DJI 😃 ….though where you are right now, broke but happy is pretty damn good place to be.
Always enjoy your videos, please keep them coming my friend.
hey James thank you for the supportive words. I am very intentionally not looking for clients & traditional film work. I’m enjoying this UA-cam career more than any of my professional careers.
The creative freedom is incredible. The money will follow at some point. I TRULY pay no attention to it.
I will be in India next year for a documentary film, then perhaps decompress in Chiang Mai. I love it there. I’ll let you know.
Hey quick question…..does Thailand have the 249g weight rule for drones? I MIGHT have an Air3 next year.
On holidays i use my dslr and my flying campera. The perfect combination. Changing the subject. I love tour scends from NY. I have a great memories of my honeymoon. Regards from spain.
Alex. Your watchtower clip is beautiful. You should really post more. I subscribed to your channel. I am officially subscriber number 2. Now you need to post more! Welcome aboard to our FLYING CAMERA CREW.
@@TedNemeth Thanks You so much. Now i am travelling in the Basque country and have good stuff. I post something more in a few days.
Ted - Love your videos! I am new to flying drones and purchased the Mini 3. Is there a video editing software for Mac that you would recommend?
hey buddy! I’m actually making a video right now on editing & different programs. I tried them all and decided on LUMAFUSION.
thxx
Mixing a bit of a philosophical outlook with 'quadcopters'... there Ted!
My default, intentional framing is Stanley Kubrick. Get some Wes Anderson in, if you can. If those can't be had in the window of opportunity, capture it all in a variety of perspectives you can so you can choose the best later on.
ha! right on brother. And you got a pretty damn looking garage of motos. I’m a total gearhead greasemonkey. Riding moto for over 30 years. Love your Honda ST70.
Hey Ted, You inspired me on how to fly, having fun and be creative with my dji mini 2 "drone"! Oops!!! I mean my "flying camera" I love the term you call it a flying camera!!! I totally agree! I love also the way you talk and appear in your videos!! I is totally YOU and true!! No fancy stuff!!! Usually I don't comment on UA-cam or social media!! Keep it going!!!
Ioannis thank you for watching & commenting. Comments like this are very inspirational for me. Thank you for being part of the community here and welcome aboard to THE FLYING CAMERA CREW! Say hello to Athens for me.
Nemeth will Nemethise. Salute, my good Sir !
Haha, I remember commenting about the shadow between the rails at the time. 😁👍
Ted, what sets your channel apart from all the rest is that you create tutorials aimed at developing storytelling skills, rather than just gear or settings or transitions. If there's no story to engage the viewer, whether the content is a video or a still (or really any artistic medium), few people will care about it, regardless of how good the technique used to capture it.
Hi Ted... love your work and would like to replicate the shot along the pier when you suddenly appear... just wondering what transition you used for this effect..😊
hey Mark! Welcome aboard sir. That fade appear effect is SUPER easy. It requires the camera to be super stationary, no movement at all. take a few seconds of video where the subject is not in the shot. Then take a few seconds of footage with the subject entering the shot. Cut the entering shot so the subject is halfway into the scene. Then just put a fade transition between the 2 shots.
@@TedNemeth Hey Ted... thank you for your quick response... really appreciate it and will try it out soon... again love your work..
Cheers Mark
Thank you! I am your new follower and I learned a lot, I thought fly a Drone is just roaming flying and wasting batteries power. Keep it up brother, such an impacful content. 🙌
right on! thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It really means a lot. Please let m know if there’s any specific questions I can help with. Or topics for upcoming episodes.
Great work and your outro was brilliant! "Live Fast, Pet Dogs"!

thank you Thorsten. Much appreciated. Dude you are living THE LIFE down there. Congrats man. I might spend a few months in Costa Rica later this year before India next year.
@@TedNemeth Costa Rica is beautiful. Was there with my wife and friends in 2015. All the best buddy.
You’re one of my favorite reviewer‘s actually, you probably are my favorite drone reviewer. I was just filming a local event and had a sideways crash with a mini3pro where the controller would just not respond and flew right into a tree and in the pond so now I’m trying to save the money for the $250 replacement fee SMH this is one expensive hobby when you’re poor.
Lenny thank you for the amazing kind words of support. Welcome aboard to THE FLYING CAMERA CREW. But dang sorry to hear about the crash mate.
well done
ha thanks man. Dude I love the name DrunkTankFilms. So good. And congrats on hitting 1k subs.
Bro!!! Your cinematic content and all involved is damn near flawless... Buttt, You never mention the importance of your awesome "editing skills" that compliment and help present your footage sooo well... IJS... I've taken a bunch of good "shots/clips" , but they don't equate to much until I edit them in my preferred software (Davinci Resolve)... Thank you sooo much for your tips, tricks, and suggestions #Salute I appreciate you
ahh man thank you. I just checked out your hyperlapse video. Was fun to follow along. I need to try it.
I edit in LUMAFUSION. It’s SUPER fast & easy to use.
Davinci Resolve is too complicated for my simple videos. I’m not a big hollywood editor.
You are exactly right…i need to do a full editing episode.
I think people will be very surprised at how basic my editing skills are.
THE BIG TIP I always always give it…….learn to crop better.
Cropping is HUGELY underrated.
More to come. Thank you for watching and welcome aboard.
@@TedNemeth Well you know I'm Subscribed so I'll be waiting for that when you drop it! BTW, Yes, Davinci does have a steep learning curve, but there's soooo many GOOD tutorials to help guide new users for basic and advanced editing...as you may see some of those mixed concepts in myvarious videos...Plus I use the FREE version... But YOUR process works very well I see... I'm definitely interested.. #Salute

yesss! great seeing you here man. its been a while. thank you for stopping by.
A cliché, but the rude comment says more about that person than it does you. Hopefully one day they'll understand it all better. Great video!
Don't ever change, Ted. You're a tonic to all drone photographers and videographers. Thanks for this 'shot' ;)
Adrian I’ve never been called a tonic before. I’ll wear it proud brother. I bow to your good graces sir.
